For us non book readers I would say the red wedding was the most shocking, Ramsey's and Joffrey's deaths were the most satisfying, blood and cheese was the most disturbing, but Shireen's death just hits different 😢
That's what we call a recency bias... Redwedding and stannis daughter's death>>> if they visually showed head cutting scene then it would have been 1st
I don’t know why you think it has to be recency bias. It could be just the fact that watchmojo simply thought it was the worst one. The top 3 picks had to do with killing children. i think the fact that killing the targaryen kid was not public and more intimate made it more brutal
@@sitomejia9620 ??? there was no resistance, no acting by the victim we can only imagine what happened they didn't show on the other hand red wedding had brutally knife stabs into the pregnant lady's belly top notch acting better music.... stannis's daughter screaming for life is just too brutal there is no way blood and cheese ( show version) us no where near their brutality
I hate when book-readers criticise it but play coy and don't reveal how it was reportedly her BFF (who only appeared in pilot episode but was a minor character in books) who was raped and faced much worse torturing than Sansa. As if it's OK if that happens to someone else as long as not main character
@@JamesHightower18 technically there are a few you don't see, none of them had the severe impact an ramifications as Ned Starks beheading.......first season they kill off the MAIN character I was like no way!!!!
I've seen every episode multiple times. There are only 2 scenes I can not watch. One being Shireen Baratheon. However, the worst for me wasn't on this list... When Ramsey sets his dogs on the poor Frey girl & her newborn. I legit can't stomach or bear it.
I think it's so hard to watch not just because it's brutal & sickeningly cruel, but bc they are so innocent & defenseless as well. Lady Walda was kind & sweet (despite being a Frey) & everything about her story broke my heart.
WatchMojo: We create lists. Me: Interesting lists. WatchMojo: More fascinating lists. Me: C'mon, now you're just scraping the barrel. WatchMojo: You will want to see this incredibly specific list. Me: I really don't want to! WatchMojo: Here are some honorable mentions.
Red Wedding should have been the easy #1. It was THE iconic Game of Thrones moment that has countless reaction compilations. Absolutely no one reacted to House of the Dragon like that scene
There are 2 scenes I struggle to watch. Oberyn's death and Aemma's death. I always cringe but end laughing with Oberyn because it is entertainingly gruesome but there is something about Aemma that is just too much to handle. It's the only scene in pretty much anything that I skip every time.
Shireen's sacrifice was worse, in my opinion. Yes, the red wedding was brutal and sad. However, Robb was at war, and at war terrible things happen. Shireen was a sweet, innocent girl and it was for nothing! Not to mention the fact that her parents were there and allowed it to happen
Only right answers for #1 and #2 are Shireen and the Red Wedding. I personally put Shireen being burned above the Red Wedding cuz of her screams and just yeah, she was pure. But I'll accept anyone who thinks the Red Wedding was worst. Red Wedding was more shocking than anything. You knew they were considering burning Shireen but you just thought they wouldn't go there. But they did.
Red Wedding should be #1 or Ned's death or Shireen, etc. Blood and Cheese show version was a joke. Actually all scenes from HOTD should be on the lower half of the list because those scenes have been small fry compared to GOT. GOT's shocking scenes made a huge impact on pop culture and had the world talking which is something HOTD hasn't really done. HOTD isn't a watercooler show in the way GOT was.
Nothing, and I do mean nothing, has ever made me more sick than Oberyn's eye gouge/head smash. I legit had to take Tums and watch videos of puppies to try and get over it. Sickening.
The Red Wedding should be no. 1. It was just a wholesale slaughter of the Northerners. The corpse of Robb Stark being paraded with Grey Wind's head is a scene that'll give nightmares. No mention of the Boltons? Ramsay flayed at least 5 characters on the show. The Mountain was brutal too, as well as his minions like Tickler and Weasel.
I didn’t read the books, so I consider myself shocked when Blood and Cheese executed their attack. Prince Jaehaerys, still too young to understand how dangerous the world is, for all the “fun” he had at that council meeting, couldn’t have anticipated what happened that night.
In the book, it's almost worse. They force Helaena to choose which of her sons will be killed (by threatening to brutally r@pe her and her daughter), then kill the non-chosen one.
In Viserys's defense of the awful scene in HotD; he was told flat-out Aemma was going to dye. The maesters suggested the c-section, with the belief that BOTH of them were going to die if they didn't intervene. At least with the c-section, the child MIGHT live, but at that point, Aemma was already a dead woman and there was no way to save her, let alone her and the baby. Horrific as it is, I understand the logic and why Viserys chose that. He didn't want to lose them both; when Aemma was effectively at this point giving up her life to try and birth this child. It's a shame they weren't able to help Aemma at least in some other way, or at least TALK TO HER about it, and I think those choices were really messed up. But I at least get the reasoning because why Viserys and the maesters did what they did. It just sucks a lot.
8:33 Talking about literally punching someone’s head in! I’ve heard some people warn others by saying “I’ll punch your head in” but Ser Criston literally punches Joffrey’s head in!
this is recency bias. I can mention 20 brutal moments from game of thrones alone. how is the Blackwood and bracken fight that we only see 2 seconds of more brutal than Theon beheading that man, or even more brutal than Jamie losing his hand
How the hell did Joffrey from HoD make it on this list with just a brief mention of one of the most satisfying deaths in all of GoT, prince/king Joffrey's death. Just don't get the way this list was structured (the place each event was on the list) as well as how they were even selected. I think that it would have played out better to section into houses and talk about the most brutal deaths in each major house from both GoT and HoD. Joffrey, and particularly Myrcella and Tomen's death were more sad and shocking than some of the entries on this list, so lumping houses together means a more robust and complete list. Just my opinion though.
For such a big dragon Vhagar has twice so far come out of nowhere to attack and kill two dragons and their riders. For a dragon that’s meant to be 260ft long with a wingspan of 500ft you’d think Vhagar would be easy to see coming and a sneak attack would be impossible! Goes to show in nearly 200yrs of living and multiple wars Vhagar has learned a few things about war and fighting over the years, you sneaky old girl.
Theon’s torture was from birth, he rarely had a moment to his own mind. He is one of the truly tragic characters of this series. I’m not defending his betrayal of the Starks, just acknowledging the events that led up to it
A lot of people are gonna complain that Blood and Cheese made #1. A common complaint after that episode was they wanted the child murder to be more dark and brutal like it was in the book
I would say this list is clearly not made by someone that actually watches the shows, except they left neds death off the list but mentioned it anyways like the freaking crab feeder dying off screen that no one cared about at all was at 20 and Ned (along with many others) didn’t get a spot
You say the Mountain showed poor sportsmanship by killing his horse but you say nothing about Loras knowingly using a mare that was in heat to fuck with Gregor’s stallion.
Daemon supporter here… Not only will I defend him I will also say he would have been the best Targaryen king ever. The right amount of violence and intelligence plus caraxes 🔥 viserys should of knelt to his lil bro and built his valerian free hold legos in peace
That Jaherys scene could have been so much worse / better depending on how you see it. It was bad for how they wrote it and scenes it but good it terms of what it represents in the storyline.
there are a few brutal scenes in GOT, but nothing haunts me like Theon getting the bone pulled out of his damn finger! After what was probably weeks strapped to a cross, getting mutilated by someone who feels no remorse or pity, in the form of a "game" no less! Ramsay got off easy.........He deserved nothing less than being skinned alive!
uhhh....logically if you think about it....a prideful man would commit suicide rather than live without his precious!! soooo, in game of thrones, when theon took a bath and "looked down and smiled" it told me everything :)
Also you don’t have rights to a dragon. Just because Vhagar was Laena’s mount doesn’t mean she automatically passes to her child. Thats not how dragon bonding works. While it was a dick move to claim her on the same night as her funeral Aemond did nothing wrong to that point.

The fact that Catelyn Stark knew something was up when the rains of Castamere song began to play and Rob didn't was more disturbing.

I know it's just a minor character's death. But the rat bucket torture from season 2 of game of thrones was pretty brutal.
Yes! It was the stuff of nightmares.
That was an actual method of torture in medieval England.
