True. This is one thing HOTD has over GOT so far. There’s been less sex as of now, but the scenes we do get are much more tasteful and put women in positions of pleasure and control in Rhaenyra’s case.
@@madelinegarber7860 but that's not realistic for the time period this show portrays. You do understand that in those times Arya would've been assaulted way more than Sansa just for the simple fact she hung around nothing but men
Sansa rape is most definitely in the book it's just not her it's her best friend Jeyne Poole whose forced to pretend she's Arya Stark and the books depiction of her assault is FAR worse than the shows, Ramsey makes Theon "warm" her up for him by forcing Theon/Reek to eat her out and Ramsey let's his dog(s) have a turn. Burning Princess Shireen at the stake was just to much and I’ll never watch that scene again. Her screams for her mother and father and that last scream before she went silent….the hardest scene I ever watched.
It still pisses me off they wrote Stannis to do that since in the books it looks like Stannis would never do that to his daughter. Another Dumb and Dumber decision
Never understood why ARYA STARK would do that yell she did while trying to kill the night king stealth kills don't involve yelling in mid strike. Alerting your prey that your approaching doesn't make sense.
Khaleesi & Drogo's wedding night was also consensual in the book. The adage of rape & violence against women by the show writers is disturbing & frankly, very telling.
While I can’t truly speak for the writers of the show, I’d say that the change speaks more about the limitations that women suffered from during similar time periods. In the books, Daenerys is 13 and Drogo is around 30 so saying it was consenual is questionable in this day and age. Making it a rape makes viewers feel uncomfortable and angry to make sure we keep it unacceptable in modern society.
It's these Hollywood types that need controversy when there isn't any. They jump at the chance that something bad has happened. Look at how many people were immediately willing to believe the Duke volleyball player. And when it is proven to be false, they have nothing to say.
It didn’t seem like rape to me, it was more like she didn’t know what was going on. Nobody took her what was going to happen. Sansa on the hand was terrible …
I will never forgive the writers for what they did to Jamie and his Lady Knight. Jamie had grown so much as a character. He had outgrown his feelings for Cersei. Arya killing the Night King was an insult to fans and proof Dan and Dave were hacks. Rarely was I on Cersei's side, but what she did to Ellaria and her daughter was justice. They both had a hand in killing Cersei's daughter, who was one of the truly innocent people on the show.
Greeneyelove outgrew his feelings for a woman he shared a womb with, loved since he was a child, had three kids with, mourned their deaths with, and was currently pregnant with his fourth? Hate to break it to ya mate but you're delusional if you really thought someone could throw away that much history and connection with another person.
I can disagree with that sentiment towards Arya. If you go back a few seasons earlier when she first encountered the Red Women. The Red Women prophesied that she would close 3 eyes forever, one of them being blue. This was a very good foreshadowing, and the fact that she used the dagger that was meant to kill her brother was quite fitting. Now, albeit, the last few seasons felt rushed, and was missing depth such as the first few seasons... But that's what happens when you lack creativity. Look at the murderous job that Amazon did with Tolkien's works with over a $1 billion budget with the Rings of Power, it's definitely not Tolkien... When they were writing the shows based off of the Books from Martin, they started off doing a very good job. When they ran out of source material to work with you can begin to tell that the creativity of Martin's writing was no longer there... So I can see where you are coming from in regards to that...
That’s why you need to read the books too. No way Jaime was going to stay with Brienne and abandon Cersei. And I’m positive Arya was always slated to kill the Night King. Another heavily foreshadowed moment, both in the show and the books. For one final reminder, I’ll throw in a quote from Ramsay: “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”
@@greeneyelove2003 He didn't love Brianne. He loved Cersei knowing what she was and wouldn't stop. In the books he loves her too but things are different there but I could see him end up with her at the end there too.
Many of these were deeply disturbing, but there is one moment on this list that I have no problem with. Cersei's walk of shame is EXACTLY what she deserved. Just like Tyrion said, her one redeeming quality is that she loves her children (and her cheekbones). Once they were dead, she became even more of a monster than she already was. Up until HotD, she was the character I hated the most, but then I was introduced to Ser "Crispin" Cole and Aegon the R*pist.
The point of the walk was Cerise was not shamed but was frightened, angered and dedicated to paying the church back for the insult. The acting was superb. The nudity was not erotic at all.
Sansa didn’t mean it made her better person. She meant it made her stronger and harder for her to trust people. That she grew out of the “naivety” she had when she was “little dove”. I completely dislike her character beginning to end but turning her trauma into her strength was a massive positive into her character and keeping the north independent like they wanted all along. Shireen could be #1😢😢😢😢
16:57 Daenerys burning King’s Landing is actually number one for me. Burning millions of innocent people in a fit of rage completely crossed the line for me and made me “rage-quit” on her being one of my favorite characters! I can sympathize with her losing everything, but that’s still no excuse for what she did! And seeing my all time favorite female character Arya being the ONLY survivor of the carnage after she tried to save people’s lives regardless of what side they were on, because it was the right thing to do, was the “final nail in the coffin.” Every time I see those scenes I’m so seething mad I have to have something in my hands or else my fingernails dig so deep into my skin they draw blood NO LIE!!!
@@haselbasil2488 I used to feel the same way, that Dany's arc made no sense, but then I went back and watched the series from the beginning. There have been very subtle hints, even as early as the pilot episode, that Dany would go mad. They're hard to spot, but they're there. Season 8 was handled poorly, her descent into madness happened way too fast, but her becoming the Mad Queen was always the ending planned for her. Had they stretched it out over a few more seasons, made her descent more gradual, it would've been much easier to swallow. But they crammed too much into too few episodes, so it felt very forced.
I’d love to see prequels of the show e.g House of Lannister could show Cersei and her siblings growing up and how her relationship with Jamie developed and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion. House of stark could show Ned growing up with his sister, seeing the death of his father and brother by the mad king, his friendship with Robert and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion House of targarean with Rhager and his dragons and the mad kings descent into madness and his death by Jamie Lannister, rhagers relationship with lyana and the deaths of his Dornish wife and his death , deanarys and viserys being smuggled away to safety and again showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion House of Tully that could show Caitlin growing up with littlefinger and meating ned and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion House of Baratheon seeing Robert, Stannis and renly growing up and Robert falling in love with lyana, his friendship with Ned, lyanas death and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion. A spin-off about aegon the conqueror taking kings landing with his dragons and establishing the targarean dynasty. A spin off about the first men and the war with the white walkers, the children, the first men and giants! There could be some really good spin-offs to be made, it could be like a marvel universe!
I think there can be too much of a good thing. And there are a few things I NEVER want to see. Cersei and Jaime's "love" story falls squarely on that list. It's toxic as fuck and I saw more than enough of it in the OG series, thanks.
@@giggle_snort yeah I understand what u mean. N yh I no their relationship was weird and creepy and just plain wrong but I’d be intrigued to see how it actually started and basically what the fuck was going through their heads to think that it was ok lol. N I’d like to see their mum being alive and her death after the birth of Tyrion and see how the relationships play out after that between Cersei, Jamie and their dad. It will never happen and I don’t think we will get any prequels, i heard their doing a spin off show about Jon snow and what he does after season 8, apparently it’s got the green light and it’s been confirmed but I’m not sure if it’s just rumours or not.?
Burning Princess Shireen was far worse than what happened to Sansa. Even what happened to Jeyne Poole in the books, in which Sansa took her storyline, is worse than what happened to Sansa in the show.
I think they are different types of horror. What makes Shireen dying so horrible is that she's one of the only people that are truly good in that world and it was for nothing... The poor girl did not deserve it 🥺
@@ponk2072With a name like "Ponk", though, are we surprised? Ever notice how there's never any debate in these critique comments? Only declarations, like changing the end of the book's story so that the unfinished books can never be corrected. That wasn't the ending of that book, which itself is in the MIDDLE of a thousand-year-long story. The Seven Year Waste Of Time.
Same. Though I’ve seriously considered inviting a bunch of GOT fans to my future wedding and having that song play at some point so I can watch everyone shudder. Then have it lead to something awesome.
Top 3 (In my opinion): 1. What happens to Sansa on her wedding night 2. Jaime's actions towards Cersei following Joffrey's death 3. The fate of Shireen Baratheon When you guys explained the behind the scenes of Sansa's torture, I was also like "WHAT!?!". I almost felt like Jaime's actions would've been number 1 even if it was in the story that scene happened, but apparently the Sansa scene story says it all. I also felt like Shireen's fate was worse than the burning King's Landing because we happened to get in touch and know more about Shireen which makes her death so brutal and hard to watch.
Nope.... Cersei's walk of atonement was completely satisfying. They definitely did not go too far with her. She's crying like a little ***** yet she's ordered the deaths of so many people and was in cahoots with Jaime in the attempted murder of Bran Stark. I don't feel one bit sorry for her at all.
Jaime fucked up when he left Brienne. He should have stuck with her. Straight up. She was a good woman and more than he deserved, regardless of his character development
Sansa's wedding night was definitely horrifying, but it did not go too far. There is almost no nudity and no onscreen violence at all. We understand what is happening, but it would be completely out of character for Ramsey to do a Khal Drogo and suddenly turn in to a kind and caring husband. Of course, it's sickening and infuriating what happens, but anything else would be out of place with a monster like Ramsey. Given how unsettling the idea of Sansa being r*ped by Ramsey is, it was very tastefully shot, leaving almost all to our imagination. Finally, credit must be given to Alfie Allen for his acting. The look on his face as he watches is what truly drives the scene home.
@@madelinegarber7860 And they almost convinced us it was a normal, pain-free wedding. Almost. Up till Ser "Crispin" went ape-shit and beat that guy to death.
When Oberyn met his horrific death, even fans who read the books and knew what was going to happen were so traumatized that it was like they didn't even predict it at all.
Game of Thrones never went too far. If anyone thinks it did, they most likely had no understanding of the storyline and the time in history or were watching a show expecting unicorns in every other shot.
Roose was not equally as terrible as Ramsey. He was cold and vicious sure, but not a remorseless monster like Ramsey. he didn’t do terrible things simply for the pleasure of it. He did terrible things for political means
Dany should've been #1. Her killing innocent men, women, and children after she goes completely insane is incredibly horrific. #2 should be Shireen. Sansa's experience, though incredibly traumatic, made her stronger and she is no longer a little bird. Her statement is truthful and many women who have survived abuse/SA/DV would agree. You have to be strong in order to survive. Sansa survived which was the whole point to her statement.
Consensual incest next to the body of the oldest resulting offspring is horrific in its own right. However, IMHO, making the encounter non-consensual *does* make it worse! Both scenarios are dreadfully repulsive & not in competition.
I still don't see how the top 2 are worse than burning your daughter alive, feeding a mother and her child to dogs, or murdering thousands of people with dragon fire.
The worst scene for me is the killing of Shireen poor little Angel got burned alive... would like to say more about that , but if i do i might get barred from you tube...
The "Black Dread" roast HarrenHal castle for an entire night and it's still liveable,,,, Drogon does a few fly bys of the Red Keep and all of King's Landing disintegrates and melts away like candle wax
#1 most disturbing scene is not even in the list, it should have been beheading Robb Stark and replacing his head with his wolf's head while shouting "The king in the north",all of these scenes in the list were disturbing but this man left me really traumatised, and the fact that Arya witnessed all this is a whole other story.
Again I only remember a few scenes when it comes to GOT, but I know an Irish family who knows Jack Gleeson and the scene discussed he watched it with his mother very awkward.
Sometimes, even zig or zagging will walk or run into which you are trying to get away from...but dang it looks way cooler if at least you look like you want to live! That is my say this morning
I will NEVER forget GoT Season 8 writers for DEMOLISHING Jaime Lannister’s character arc. EVER. And Cersei should’ve died in 1 of 3 ways: 1. Danaerys demolishes the top of the keep, faces directly toward Cersei and simply says, “Dracarys.” 2. Jaime HIMSELF kills her. 3. Arya disguises herself as Jaime and kills her.
9:25 is a scene I ALWAYS have to skip entirely! I’m such a huge animal lover that seeing something like that makes me sob my eyes out! That’s why I also skip the ending of Season 1 Episode 2 when Eddard kills Sansa’s wolf Lady and I also have to look away when they show it again during the episode 3 recap
Okay so number one isn't 100% accurate. It's true that Ramsay doesn't marry Sansa in the books, but he does marry her best friend, Jeyne Poole, who is disguised by the Lannisters and Littlefinger as Arya Stark. Theon is a part of it, and is forced to... prepare her sexually... before Ramsay SAs her. He has to do more in the books than just watch like he does in the show. The options they had were to use Sansa's character, which already had assumed a fair number of Jeyne's characteristics from the books, or write another character into multiple episodes across multiple seasons. The Lannisters needed a Stark marriage to cement Bolton control over the North, which is a fairly important plot point in the show. Theon grew up with both Sansa and Jeyne. It would have been equally cruel to have him there with either one. The only difference for us as viewers, is whether it's to a character we know and love, or one that would have been written in solely for that purpose. Either way, it still wasn't as awful as what was done to Shireen, imo.
Rickon was such a wasted character. His death honestly didn’t even need to happen. He literally disappeared. And then suddenly reappeared just to kill him off. When I saw that I was like 🤯😐😒🙄. Like why you know? So stupid 🤦♂️
Stannis would never willingly allow Shireen to perish. This is well established in the show, so it doesn't make sense when that scene plays out. They did my boy dirty.
Umm no. Stannis would sacrifice anything for the “greater good” that’s what Shireens death is, if Renlys death would have been explicitly from Stannis the exact thing that happened after Shireen would have happened
One time when my lizard was shedding his skin and there was an entire area of skin that he was trying to get off, I helped him. At first, I thought it would feel like stripping loose paint but instead it felt like the scene with Samwell and Jorah.
Based on the fanbase's love for the show though - I don't think they ever went to far. They gave the audience what they wanted. At any moment they could have protested by choosing not to watch, instead they made it one of the most successful franchises ever.

When Ned had to Kill Sansa’s direwolf lady was an awful scene
Never understood why ARYA STARK would do that yell she did while trying to kill the night king stealth kills don't involve yelling in mid strike. Alerting your prey that your approaching doesn't make sense.

Screaming increases your power by 150%. you should try it.
@@eternalmemes plus, sound can be used as a weapon. Clearly this guy has never read or watched “Dune.”
@@irritatedasian yep
@@abongilezolanipeterson5588 Hate to break it to you, but people throw away history with another every day.
I'm a bit surprised that Cersei blowing up the Sept failed to make this list.
With the gorgeous queen and an abundance of other far more innocent people inside. That was rough.
or torturing septa unella
Sansa didn’t mean it made her better person. She meant it made her stronger and harder for her to trust people. That she grew out of the “naivety” she had when she was “little dove”. I completely dislike her character beginning to end but turning her trauma into her strength was a massive positive into her character and keeping the north independent like they wanted all along. Shireen could be #1😢😢😢😢
I mean I’m surprised that the slaughter of Robert’s bastards weren’t on this list.
Yes this that shit was so disturbing to me.
The transition from Sir Jorah's grey scale removal to soldier picking a soup with spoon was so well done I almost puked watching it 😈
That one was absolutely disgusting.
Me 2 lol
That made me cringe and shudder as well.
That scene was enough to ruin clam chowder for me lol.
The Jorah Grey scale scene was disgusting because of how it ended. They cut to a scene of someone eating pie. Made me feel 🤢🤮
Or the scene of Sam emptying chamber pots and it cuts to stew or soup made me want to pule as well.
This was the comment I was looking for. I literally had to pause and process that sick transition.
You know when it didn't go far enough? When they decided it wouldn't go past 8 seasons.
Best it didnt
How could you mention Peeling the Greyscale without mentioning that pie transition? 🤣
I knoww what was that, it was a very good transition tho
I hate what they did to Dany's character at the end, complete betrayal of who she was, it made no sense.
The death of princess Shireen was the hardest scene in the whole show.
I’d love to see prequels of the show e.g
House of Lannister could show Cersei and her siblings growing up and how her relationship with Jamie developed and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion.
House of stark could show Ned growing up with his sister, seeing the death of his father and brother by the mad king, his friendship with Robert and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion
House of targarean with Rhager and his dragons and the mad kings descent into madness and his death by Jamie Lannister, rhagers relationship with lyana and the deaths of his Dornish wife and his death , deanarys and viserys being smuggled away to safety and again showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion
House of Tully that could show Caitlin growing up with littlefinger and meating ned and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion
House of Baratheon seeing Robert, Stannis and renly growing up and Robert falling in love with lyana, his friendship with Ned, lyanas death and showing what it was like on their side during the rebellion.
And more of the dragons 🎉❤😊
Burning Princess Shireen was far worse than what happened to Sansa. Even what happened to Jeyne Poole in the books, in which Sansa took her storyline, is worse than what happened to Sansa in the show.
I think they are different types of horror. What makes Shireen dying so horrible is that she's one of the only people that are truly good in that world and it was for nothing... The poor girl did not deserve it 🥺
Agreed and if memory serves, he made Theon participate in the books too. It’s awful!
I could never watch the death of Shireen again. That was way too far for me. She was an innocent girl. Everything else? Eh.
My personal choices:
1. Sansa's rape.
2. Shireen's death.
3. Theon's torture.
4. Oberyn's death.
5. The Red Wedding.
Theon deserved it tho

Top 3 (In my opinion):
1. What happens to Sansa on her wedding night
2. Jaime's actions towards Cersei following Joffrey's death
3. The fate of Shireen Baratheon
When you guys explained the behind the scenes of Sansa's torture, I was also like "WHAT!?!".
Having Stannis the Mannis burn his daughter alive was too far. Complete betrayal of his character
I’m fairly sure that’s going to happen in Winds
@@Matt-bg5wg lol no. If you actually paid attention to his character in the books, that's certainly opposite from the show.
@@isiaharellano3789 You Stannis stans are delusional. Stannis burning Shireen is totally within his character and will probably happen in the books
Turning Dany into ‘the Mad Queen’ was a total disservice to her character
Not really, she showed signs of cracking for a while.
That had been happening since she got pregnant with Drogo’s child. It was NOT a sudden character change. Wake up.
"Hard to watch" would have been a much better title than "went too far"
The tween breastfeeding went too far. No " needed. XD
Even if Game of Thrones (2011 - 2019) have many moments that went too far, it's still one of my top 10 favorites of ALL-TIME and still is to this day.
To this day!!!
Jaime fucked up when he left Brienne. He should have stuck with her. Straight up. She was a good woman and more than he deserved, regardless of his character development
Before the battle of the bastard I had completely forgot about Rickon. The writers didn't give him nothing to work with
Sansa's wedding night was definitely horrifying, but it did not go too far.
14:53 Everytime I hear The Rains of Castamere I sweat a lil bit
Me too yo. I was on edge during the whole wedding feast scene in HOTD ep5.

#1 should better be the whole 8th season...
Funny story: My stepmother was tellin' me I should watch GoT, even said I'd probably like it, and then #4 happened. 😑
Roose was not equally as terrible as Ramsey. He was cold and vicious sure, but not a remorseless monster like Ramsey. he didn’t do terrible things simply for the pleasure of it. He did terrible things for political means
14:53 I still get chills hearing that song.
SA is not a learning experience and doesn’t make you stronger. Learning how to live afterwards is not the same as growing BECAUSE of it
Agree as a former DV survivor, I hate the stronger trope. It really doesn't make every person stronger. Most people learn to cope with it
I'm still pissed they omitted lady Stoneheart!
Same!!!! I was just waiting for her to meet up with brienne
Good job WatchMojo! I believe that you definitely got all the ickiest moments! Although, I would have added the hanging at the White wall by Jon Snow.
That was heart wrenching, but they were all traitors and murderers. Even Oly. Doesn't make it fun to watch. 😭
I never felt so much pain in my heart hearing Shireen shrieks go loudly as her father watches... and stops.
Game of thrones from Season 1- 4 was the dream. The deaths were horrific but, they were important to the story development.
I have a question. What ever happened to the babies that were turned into the blue eyed dead babies?
The worst scene for me is the killing of Shireen poor little Angel got burned alive... would like to say more about that , but if i do i might get barred from you tube...
That mormont girls death by the giant 😭
The moment the bards start playling Rains of Castamere and you can see how Catelyn resignates breaks me every time
The "Black Dread" roast HarrenHal castle for an entire night and it's still liveable,,,, Drogon does a few fly bys of the Red Keep and all of King's Landing disintegrates and melts away like candle wax
Man why didn't Rickon, zigzag when he ran!! Don't run in a straight line🤦♂️
Rickon wasn't the sharpest tool in the Stark's shed. It was very obvious.
Sometimes, even zig or zagging will walk or run into which you are trying to get away from...but dang it looks way cooler if at least you look like you want to live! That is my say this morning
Sansa’s reflection in the show always, ALWAYS made me angry beyond words.
I will NEVER forget GoT Season 8 writers for DEMOLISHING Jaime Lannister’s character arc. EVER.
And Cersei should’ve died in 1 of 3 ways:
1. Danaerys demolishes the top of the keep, faces directly toward Cersei and simply says, “Dracarys.”
2. Jaime HIMSELF kills her.
3. Arya disguises herself as Jaime and kills her.
The burning of a Pokémon adventure age little girl alive, is far more disturbing, then a non consensual, spicy no no scene.
You can think one is more disturbing than the other but calling a rape scene "a non consensual spicy no no scene" is downplaying it to an extreme.
Denaris being told by her brother he'd sell her for an army. That was the most triggering scene for me.
In hindsight, Daenerys was always a bit violent, but i still felt it misplaced the way she burned down kings landing.
I really hope the new HBO show of Oberon taking care of Lady Mormont while fighting walkers will be good.
Agreed! Can’t wait to see the two of them in their new show!

The Season 8 would be considered Game of Thrones gone too far....... Such a huge disappointment even the cast members felt that way
The noise Roose Bolton makes when he gets stabbed is the most hilarious thing I've ever heard.
