I bought these Hankook Ion EVO All Season tires made specifically for EV's which now come in the factory Model Y 20" wheels size. These along with the Lightweight UP03 Unplugged performance wheels make my model Y efficient and light weight.

UPDATE: I am still loving these tires and you can get them on Amazon: amzn.to/3xWiHOP
I recently installed Hankook ion I*cept winter tires on my Tesla Model 3 RWD, and they have significantly outperformed the original tires. They're noticeably quieter and offer superior grip, especially in winter conditions. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable winter tires.
Oh really? Thanks
What about range ? Less ?
I went with the Sailun ERange EV Touring "18 on my 3, literally half the price at $150 each at the Walmart, with 40k warranty. I would say they're quieter and softer rolling than the stocks.
I just got these and They're amazing. LOVE THEM!
Have you noticed efficiency improvements?.. also sound?
Thanks for the video, recently put on the Hancock EVO all season on my model Y, 3 months in and 1 road trip, I really like these tires, much better than the original tires. Tire design is nice. Haven’t judged yet what it’s done for range. But warranty is much better than the Michelin EV tire. which is roughly the same cost. Car brakes really good even when charging compared to my other model Y with 10k on factory tire.
Noise?
I just purchased the Model Y Performance Quicksilver White interior. Ordered quite a few accessories on Tesmanian, Tparts (used GJEEBS code) and Vion (used GJEEBS code). Ordered UP rear adjustable arms with Kirk and mentioned you during our conversation. My Model Y came with the 21' Hankook ION EVOs.
I saw they are shipping them with the Hankook ION evo's. Pretty cool!
Bruh this guy saves me so much money by testing out so many things thanks a ton!!
Losing 44lbs of reciprocating weight should make your model y feel about 370lbs lighter.
The car will stop, accelerate and handle better. Your testing proves this to be true.
Yea it's pretty crazy
@@Gjeebs AJ’s cold brew has a similar effect on me.
All this talk about unsprung weight has me clearly sprung.
👀
🫦
just got it. wow it was softer and quieter than the original worn F1s
Yea it's crazy how much of a difference it makes
I have the Goodyear Eagle F1s and thinking about making the switch. Currently my range at 100% on my 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range is 315 miles.
Did you see a change in range when you switch to these tires? If so, what were the mile ranges before and after? Did you keep original wheels?
How do these compare to the Pilot sport all season 4 when it comes to driving dynamics and grip
What app were you using to get your acceleration times? I've tried a few but they were useless.
Those UP03 wheels look incredible on your Y and they are Pike's Peak proven, too.
Def gonna look into these once I run thru my stock ones. Thanks Gjeebs DA GOAT!
Thank you very much. Your review helped cement my decision in choosing Hankook over other tires.
Yea you will be very happy with these
Thanks for the review. I've been curious about these Hankooks and if they were any good.
I just drove a Model Y for 2 weeks in July. 19 inch standard wheels and seems Tesla has fitted Goodyear ElectricDrive as standard tires on Model Y's. All I can say is, compared to my 2020 Model 3 SR on Michelin Pilot Sport 5, the Goodyear tires are silent! Significantly quieter to the point that i don't hear any tire noise at all! I think you should consider the Goodyear ElectricDrive as another alternative. After all, Tesla is using them as standard on Model Y.
Dang just the topic I was looking into atm lol, well done sir
Thanks for the review, but I'll stick to my Goodyear Eagles F1 for EVs. Love these tires. They're quiet and grip like a tiger. I've had Hankooks which means Korea in their language before and those things slid all over the place in the rain.
How do they compare to the Michelin Pilot Sport EVs? Currently torn between the Hankooks and the Michelins.
Michelin's are Noisy! I have the Pilot Sport 5 and have also driven the Pilot sport EV on a Model Y. Both have very apparent tire noise. Then I drove a Model Y with 19 inch standards for 2 weeks with Goodyear Electric Drive. Couldn't hear a thing from the tires! Comfort is great too!
New AZ sub. Just purchased a Model Y LR. 🎉🎉.
Thank you and congrats on the Y!
love the transition to sponsor :)
How much of the improvements were actually from the new wheels with less unsprung weight?
Question for ya. I’ve seen other blogs saying upsizing tires can void the warranty, is this true? They tout on the Y performance upsizing the tires in front to 275s and rears to 295s.
do the tesla center caps fit into the up03 wheels?
How do you run your car while the tires are sent to Hankook for determination of your warranty coverage??
For the model Y, I have the 20-in induction wheels and did you get the hankook ion EV or the Hancock ion EV SUV tires? 2022 model Y long range 20 inch induction wheels
Can anyone comment on overall comparison of Hancook Ion Evos ($258 at Tire Rack/Discount Tire) to Michelin CrossClimate2 ($305 at Tire Rack/Discount Tire) for those of us living in northern climates with 2-3 months of snow?
It might be tough get some real world experience with the Hancook's with how new they are, but everyone in Minnesota loves the CrossClimate's. They actually have the 3 peak mountain snowflake rating so I would guess they would be better in snow, but with a slight range hit vs the possible boost the Hancook's might provide.
I called Hankook US HQ in Nashville last week. I asked if the Hankook ION FlexClimate (with 3 Peak certification) launched in Europe last Fall would be available in US later this year. Unfortunately, the answer was no.😩
Hoping you test tires for model 3 now that you have access to the model 3
My golf instructor said my swing was too flat. Should I tell him to adjust my camber arms for a neutral swing path?
@gjeebs, are these Hankook ION EV AS or Hankook ION EV AS SUV? Debating if I should get the SUV version or not. I live in SoCal with trips to mountains often during winter for snowboarding and am a spirited driver during the summer so I’d like to have as much performance as possible out of these all season.
These are the SUV version
@@Gjeebs looks like the stock size for the 20s only come in SUV anyways. Thanks!
@@warrior15r I should have a dedicated video out on these Thursday with real data
Hey, I am super interested in fixing the negative camber on my 2023 Tesla Y LR. Did you change the camber yourself? Did you change them for the front and rears? What camber did you buy and from where?
I cover all of this in this video: ruclips.net/video/E8kTOMhXPvs/видео.html
What do they do for you while they send your tires in for analysis?
Another great video.
Thought this video was about tires, it seams it about what he did to his car.
Can I use these on a non ev car ?
Alignments for Tesla are a big problem as they require special equipment. What retail tire companies do Tesla alignments. IE Tire Kingdom. Firstone, etc and do they sell hankook Evo;s????
Are they available for the 19 genini tires?
Yea here is my amazon link for them: amzn.to/3xWiHOP
Hi Gjeebs, would you say a camber kit is needed for the Model Y?
It's not needed just helps with tire wear
You know talk is talk. You have a horn in your car and you can save that uphill driving video footage just by pressing the horn... But thanks for the video, helped me on my tire development process.
Too much fluff in this video. So much time on the Unplugged Performance wheels instead of the tires.
Video begins at 3:32.
Efficiency charts at 5:17.
Noise/Decibel test 8:35.
0-60s: 7:00.
Where did you get the camber arms and who installed them? (I’m also in AZ)
I got them from unplugged performance and they installed them but plaid performance (Luca is the owner) will install them in AZ
@@Gjeebs thank you!!!
Love unplugged stuff but I find it a bit too expensive unfortunately.
Where did you buy them? Dead ends trying to find them here in NC.
Discount Tire. Have you tried Tire Rack? They will ship right to you for free
Optiwatt vs. Tessie?
It’s light in its loafers
what tire pressure are you running?
42psi
A Performance tire is going to affect high speed handling/cornering/braking, get sticky when hot..
Any tire that doesn't break loose will give you a good 0-60.
Your improvements are most likely attributes to the decrease in rolling resistance of the smaller diameter tires and the weight loss of the sweet a** wheels
Fitz
Hey Ben: I can’t recommend these anymore. I’ve had them for 9K miles but just had a Flat on a highway in Florida. The Tire Shops here said can’t be patched because of the sound deadening foam inside the tire. So had to replace the tire. Really lousy. Don’t think I’m buying these again until Hankook can figure out how these can be patched.
They can be patched, and so can any other tire with the sound deadening foam. The tire shops are screwing you over.
Vee Quiva getting a butt hurt lol
⚡️
Just installed the iON EVO AS SUV on my Model X (staggered 20's), and holy crap these are QUIET and SMOOTH compared to the Contisilent I replaced. Range has slightly improved as well, but mostly it's a comfort and sound level improvement. Let's hope they last.. I got about 40,000mi on the Continentals so I'm shooting for 50k on these..
I know it incredible! they have a 50,000 mile warranty so if they wear prematurely then you get a credit toward your next set.
Put them on my LR RWD 3 a couple of months ago. Paired with aero wheels and different covers i've lowered my WH/Mi ...
Did you say more range than primacy stock tire? How long did stock tires last?
@@brhutchi I got 26K in 2 years on the OG 18's. I switched to some T-Sportline wheels and Michelin AS4's for the next 3 years and I got 34K on them. Range had dropped a good bit. After just over 2k miles on the Hankook I've brought my range up a decent amount.
Ev tires are more rigid than regular Tyres to accommodate the extra weights , so they bend less under pressure like in acceleration or hard breaking ,so it's not surprising they beat a regular uhp tyre in an acceleration test.
You apparently have never seen a true drag racing tire sidewall wrinkling at the drag strip. For street tires, you actually reduce tire pressure to better traction.
@@2be1withU you reduce them but you also warm them so the psi goes up to fit optimal performance , on the road you don't reach that level of warm .
No dragster tires deform a ton during acceleration@@sbtgn75
You got butthurt about not being allowed to use someone else's private property
🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Very strange suggestion to test tyre performance by accelerating 0-60?
