Before you do the final bosses in boletaria, go to the next fog gate in boletaria but dont go in - instead go back and explore 1-1 more. And defeat the red eyed knight guarding the church door. Behind that door you will - if you choose - find one of the toughest fights of the game. And now you know where Malenia’s rot comes from.

It depends on which ending you choose. But I don’t think you’re still a villain if you choose the good ending. If you do, you still remain as an Antihero
Speaking of voice actors who played multiple roles, the voice actor for Patches also voiced Knight Lautrec of Carim in Dark Souls which is ironically perfect.
From Storm King to Yhorm to Rykard - it took Fromsoft a little too long to realize the key to making these bosses good is to have them actually be a boss fight that you have to dodge.
You need to get the mausoleum key from ostrava, then go back to world 1-1 amd open the door to old king Doran. Can get a weapon and if you can beat him get his armor
100% this. Its not that the remake version is bad per se on its own, but it very much does *not* hit the same emotional depth. The addition of the choir/orchestral arrangement actually takes away the somber, repeatedly pleading tone that the original really hammers home with its instrumentation. It really makes it feel like your lust for demon's souls is actually the villain here.
Maiden Astraea is one of the best FromSoft bosses artistically. The reason I said to do this second to last is because it makes you question killing demons after you went so far to the point where you only have one demon left to kill. Also in the OG, the music in the Nexus changes after you kill her/ she kills herself (the music doesn’t change in the remake). I can’t wait to see you play the OG version. The ost of that one is iconic to the point where people say the new one is disappointing.

@@namirakira7138 It’s because they changed the focus of the track, its Gal Vinland's last stand now, that's why it’s more heroic and why it only starts playing when you engage him and stops when he dies, changing to the new tune they created for Astrea herself.

Not sure why but the Knight in the Astrea fight usually has some dialogue as he's fighting you, makes the whole fight a bit more emotional lol. Might just be because it was your 2nd attempt that you actually reached him.

Ahh Storm King. This entire game is worth it just for this boss. I absolutely love how epic getting Storm Ruler is. The music gets more epic after you pick it up. Up until the King of Puppets in Lies of P this was my favorite cutscene of all time. Also, that area is a great place to farm for souls after he’s gone. Take the Storm Ruler in there and let it rip. You get like 18k souls for each of the rays.
If you have Pure White World Tendency in world 1: go back to the very first Arch Stone, and on that bridge, go left the moment you can (it's right before the first enemies you encounter) There's an entire area there that's only openable if you have Pure White World Tendency (or Pure Black iirc)
In the original PS3 version of Demon's Souls, you only had to wear the fat-official hat to get the ladder lowered. Actually, the hat was the only piece of the fat-official's outfit there was in the PS3 version. The remake adds the entire fat-official set, and the need to wear it for that ladder-lowering puzzle.

Only Astraea has achieved making us all feel sorry and guilty for fighting against a boss. Maybe the big doggo from DS1, but just because it was a furry one. Demon's Souls was a great exploration of mechanics and emotions in a videogame and the remaster nailed it. State of the art game.
I love the Astreae theme. Some people dislike it because it's different from the original and they're nostalgic, but the remake's theme is an objectively sick piece of music.
RIP Astraea. That sinking feeling? That's a critical hit right to the Feels. The Knight was moving a bit funny because he is acting purely in defense, he doesn't chase you beyond that chokepoint. If you were to have gotten behind him, he would have made chase and continued actively attacking you. If you sneak by Garl Vinland without killing him, Astraea will defend herself when you get close, but as soon as you kill her beloved knight, the will to live is gone. Boss Souls don't really have descriptions in Demon's Souls, if there is lore about the boss, it is usually mentioned on the weapon or spell which the soul creates. You can look also those up on a Demon's Souls wiki after you finish the game.
The guy you killed and got the armor was named Yurt. If you didnt kill him he slowly starts killing the npcs in the hub. You made the correct decision.

14:58 this door was a huge mystery when the remake first released and it took the community a while to figure out. It's not really a spoiler because you 100% would not figure it out yourself but I won't spoil too much cause Vaati made a really good video about it. demon souls is SUCH a masterpiece. it has some weird gimmicky bosses, but it was such a groundbreaking game! it's been a delight watching your playthrough!
Man I gotta say, watching you play through all the soulsborn games made me go back and restart all of them from start to end. Started with Demons, DS1-3, BB, Sekiro (my least favorite but still great as a spiritual Tenchu game) and ER. Such a great time playing those while watching you play through them as well lol.
The whole thing about only wearing the hat is the PS3 Demon's Souls. They added the armor, gloves and boots to the remake and made the full outfit mandatory to trigger that.
We were kinda the bad guy in Bloodborne too. Even in ds3 the lords knew using them wouldn't fix the world, so we killed them and took their heads anyway lol
My first comment on your channel. I just want to say that I love your vibes dude. Thanks for taking the time to make all these videos. As some have said, don't feel too bad about killing Astraea. She turned her back on her church and God to embrace the demon power the Old One, a being actively trying to end the world and all reality. If you talk to that one magic user (I think?) sitting on the ground in the Nexus, he tells you that miracles and soul arts are two sides of the same coin. The Soul arts are frowned upon (were once previously banned), whilst miracles are seen to have come from God. However, all power comes from the Old One, most are just oblivious to it. Astraea turned her back on her 'God', only to unknowingly serve it anyways. A truly tragic tale. Also, once you get the mausoleum key, don't forget to visit the first red spear knight that kicked your ass all the way back in 1-1. There's a special door that needs opening.
Now you have a proper sword and do proper damage. Still have work to be done. Don't forget to get the red eyes knight that gave you a lot of problems and what he protects. I'm loving the new look of Sir Gilbert the Tarnished, but why not level up the necessary stat and use the armour. I bet it rocks. Glad to know you're fully recovered, brother. Umbasa.

Hey, just enjoing this videos, I am now playing Dark Souls 1 and every time pass through some new area I watch your playthrough to if you had same suffering as i did haha. Its been lots of fun!
Before you enter the endgame, you’ll know it when you see it, make sure to revisit and exhaust all the dialogue of the NPCs in the Nexus before you take the plunge. You will hear a lot of crucial lore and it might illuminate something you might not have thought of as a possibility.
Glad you liked the Storm King, most cinematic boss in the series, aside from maybe Radan. Now for some lore: Don't feel too bad about Astraea, her salvation is to take away memories and instincts. Those in the Valley of Defilement are madmen because of her, and they don't even fully understand why they worship her. Not to say you shouldn't reverse what you feel, she did it all for a good purpose, she just chose the wrong method.

Mati, if you want to try some other Soulslikes after Demon's Souls, I've got a few ones i think are worth trying. Obviously finish Hollow Knight Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant 2 are an amazing twist on the formula. Lords of the Fallen (2023, not 2014, dont torture yourself, lmao) Blasphemous 1 and 2 Nioh 1 and 2 Salt and Sanctuary There are a few decent ones I left out but these ones stand out to me.

If you fought Garl Vinland in human form instead of phantom he would've had additional dialogue when you walk up to him, too bad the evil fetuses killed you. Storm King's sound design is godly! I've always wished you can refight bosses like in Sekiro or bonfire ascetics, there's some bosses I'd love to experience again without having to go through the entire game again. At least FS games have high replayability.
Great video!!! Here's a fun tip you can farm the flying guys with the storm ruler for easy souls!! And to use magic you have to unlock a magic slot to put magic on, anyway keep up the good vibes man!
To get the full experience you should go into pure white tendency in all areas and the change into black tendency in all areas. You can always do that in another playthrough. Might be a good idea to reaf up on it not to make any mistakes. BTW Biorr are the guy people told you not the free before the Penetrator. He shows up for the fight and totally destroys The Penetrator like The Onion Knight destroyed Yhorm. So the comparison are not so far off. The knight you freed from the cage and killed would have gone to The Nexus and started killing people

RIP Astrea, I know you are finding this game easy with your souls experience, but this destyroed me back in the day, Storm King is up there in top boss in all souls game. Remember it's the first game and they refined it for later games.

The Old Monk is a one of a kind experience. I think you just got a really bad and underleveled player. Plus Demon’s Souls pvp is way more balanced compared to Dark Souls 3, so that makes it way better than Halflight.
Hey Mati, I urge you to check out Lords of the Fallen for the next game of the channel. It's absolutely been patched into a fantastic state and I can't recommend it enough right now. Other suggestions would be the Jedi games, Fallen Order and Survivor, which are both incredible and have a lot of Sekiro/Soulslike elements to them. Thanks man!
Manta Ray was actually the correct nomenclature! It was From who got it wrong this time. Sting Rays are smaller and obviously have a stinger. Whereas Mantas are much larger and do not.

Yeah Storm Ruler is the same exact sword as the Storm Ruler from Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 3 had tons of references to Demon's Souls in it

The Soul arts are frowned upon (were once previously banned), whilst miracles are seen to have come from God. However, all power comes from the Old One, most are just oblivious to it. Astraea turned her back on her 'God', only to unknowingly serve it anyways. A truly tragic tale.
Also, once you get the mausoleum key, don't forget to visit the first red spear knight that kicked your ass all the way back in 1-1. There's a special door that needs opening.
Now you have a proper sword and do proper damage. Still have work to be done. Don't forget to get the red eyes knight that gave you a lot of problems and what he protects. I'm loving the new look of Sir Gilbert the Tarnished, but why not level up the necessary stat and use the armour. I bet it rocks. Glad to know you're fully recovered, brother. Umbasa.

Before you enter the endgame, you’ll know it when you see it, make sure to revisit and exhaust all the dialogue of the NPCs in the Nexus before you take the plunge. You will hear a lot of crucial lore and it might illuminate something you might not have thought of as a possibility.

Now for some lore: Don't feel too bad about Astraea, her salvation is to take away memories and instincts. Those in the Valley of Defilement are madmen because of her, and they don't even fully understand why they worship her.
Not to say you shouldn't reverse what you feel, she did it all for a good purpose, she just chose the wrong method.

If you fought Garl Vinland in human form instead of phantom he would've had additional dialogue when you walk up to him, too bad the evil fetuses killed you. Storm King's sound design is godly! I've always wished you can refight bosses like in Sekiro or bonfire ascetics, there's some bosses I'd love to experience again without having to go through the entire game again. At least FS games have high replayability.

Great video!!! Here's a fun tip you can farm the flying guys with the storm ruler for easy souls!! And to use magic you have to unlock a magic slot to put magic on, anyway keep up the good vibes man!
To get the full experience you should go into pure white tendency in all areas and the change into black tendency in all areas. You can always do that in another playthrough. Might be a good idea to reaf up on it not to make any mistakes.
BTW Biorr are the guy people told you not the free before the Penetrator. He shows up for the fight and totally destroys The Penetrator like The Onion Knight destroyed Yhorm. So the comparison are not so far off.
The knight you freed from the cage and killed would have gone to The Nexus and started killing people

RIP Astrea, I know you are finding this game easy with your souls experience, but this destyroed me back in the day, Storm King is up there in top boss in all souls game. Remember it's the first game and they refined it for later games.
Been enjoying Ser Gilbert’s Saga a lot since chapter one, but Storm King made me crank up those watts in my stereo waay up. Epic in every aspect.

The Old Monk is a one of a kind experience. I think you just got a really bad and underleveled player.
Plus Demon’s Souls pvp is way more balanced compared to Dark Souls 3, so that makes it way better than Halflight.
In the original DS you only had to wear the Fat Official's hat, they've changed it for the remake.

I urge you to check out Lords of the Fallen for the next game of the channel. It's absolutely been patched into a fantastic state and I can't recommend it enough right now.
Other suggestions would be the Jedi games, Fallen Order and Survivor, which are both incredible and have a lot of Sekiro/Soulslike elements to them.

Manta Ray was actually the correct nomenclature! It was From who got it wrong this time. Sting Rays are smaller and obviously have a stinger. Whereas Mantas are much larger and do not.
If you get a chance, try to see the backstab animation for katanas
