Can you make a video about counter punches, blocks and defense all types.
I would appreciate.
Hello can you make a video ,on how to improve your weaker hand or drills which could help, I just got into boxing by watching your videos
Tony Jeffries thanks a lot, your videos are excellent! Cheers from France
Any tips on fighting taller and bigger opponents? .
How to fight short range fight
I was sparring with pressure fighter today, I was feinting with footwork and he was all the time and he was wondering in which direction try to cut my movements while I was throwing jabs all the time, in last round he was tired and no more able to chase me like before and I landed my best shots, thanks Tony! I will keep practicing it!
Interesting, cool. I currently practice karate which obviously has more to it, but was curious because I was sparring with a guy who is mostly a boxer, and we do light contact at first, so he was punching fast and I was blocking most of his stuff with just one arm. But then I was able to sneak in a few kicks.
@@kbanghart if you can block with 1 arm, he is doing something wrong.
@@yagzyalcntas553 we don't do full contact (yet).
@@kbanghart still, even if he is doing lightly even with simple combos you cant block with single hand or just some feints, imagine doing jab feint and doing a left hook, the most common thing to do against someone who tries to reach out for opponents punches.
@@kbanghart “obviously has more to it” what 😂😂😂😂
As a taller fighter(for my weight category) I literally was just trying to find a video like this, wow!
Ooooo.. He needs to do videos about fighting at a height advantage / disadvantage
@@josesammut9396 That would be extremely useful, to have something in mind to work on before sparring sessions.
Glad this was helpful mate..
Same here!
@@gangbang8347 as a measly 6’0 guy in the heavyweight devision this video was perfect. I desperately need to learn how to shut down pressure 😂
Tip number 3.5: hit their guard really hard.
The first thing I try to do when I am dealing with a short pressure fighter is as soon as he is in range, Ill throw in a very hard one two on their guard.
I do this to make him weary of stepping in. He'll feel the punches through the guard, reminding him that he is the one stepping into a lions den.
Great Tip mate thanks for sharing!
Ye also underhand clinches and vision blocking
would love see a video with footwork moves and dodging during pad work
as a pressure fighter myself, knowing my own weaknesses (on top of me being rather inexperienced) really helps. Thanks Tony!
came here for the same reason myself brother
Have struggled with opponents that just come out swinging and moving forward.
I know I have to pivot and counter, but very difficult for me. I cover up and get smashed.
I have much to learn.
Thank you for this video.
I will practice these moves for sure!
Wouldn’t the jab work
Or a couple slips and a roll or something might help too
@@jamal4931 agreed but once you get rocked real hard then it's hard to roll and slip because of the pressure
This is an old comment so I’m sure you’re way better than when you left this but I feel you bro it hits different when you do what everyone is saying like jab & pivot 3 times in a row and here comes rocky still in my plate.. I also cover up & get smashed lol and we both ended up on RUclips trying to get extra help 😂😂 My boy who got me into all this just tells me to keep sparring & you’ll eventually figure it out
Hope everything is much better now since you have more experience and confidence!!! (With the time that has past) 👊🙏🔥
As a pressure fighter, I appreciate the information! Usually, against taller opponents, I will maneuver them into a tight spot, clamp up my guard, and charge in when they're "cornered" to render their superior range irrelevant, then I...put on the pressure.
I would like some respect in the ring though! I'm always respectful, and reciprocity is appreciated! :)
Until a tall person does it to you and you get caught in a vortex of never ending slender man arm hooks.
@@giomakethemniggasrun6717 Been there! Not pretty! And they weren't all that tall either!
@@giomakethemniggasrun6717 😂💀

@@Tony_Jeffries always coach ❤️
Blitz his body up rib shots gon break em down but yeah wait for his vid too
@@Tony_Jeffries Thank you for all the time you expend on us
I REALLY HOPE HE DOESNT😂😂😂
Thanks Tony
As a taller boxer with long range I today got in the ring with a more experienced shorter boxer. Thinking it was a light warm up round I decided use my jab to keep it long but didn’t get enough behind it. I got bit of a shock when he started walking me down landing hooks. Really didn’t know what to do. He just kept coming forward and walking through my jabs. Was really disheartening.
Fake a jab let him get some hooks next time give him uppercuts and crosses
@@voiceswithacause7994 I tried that against a tanky short guy and he was just taking all of my hits and counter punching
@@whiterunguard1706 need to make em miss b4 u can make em pay. Aim is to make em more reluctant to engage. Every time they miss make sure u hit em HARD.
the lighter the sparring, the more it helps the shorter pressure fighters cos they can just eat your soft 16oz jabs til they get in. its nowhere near as easy in an actual fight but hey ho
@@manfrombritain6816 I think this is very important. There is a shorter pressure fighter in my gym that would get inside my jab easier in light sparring sessions. During hard sparring I have him retreating most of the time.
As a coach I have had some success with having my fighters fold ( head is outside the pocket and low). So fold, then close quickly , bump them up with your shoulder then throw a body shot. You can use it if you are being pressured against the ropes. Blade the body also on the fold, and you can come back with an uppercut off the bump. Bump him up and take his power away. The ref might call you for bumping him at times, so be strategic when to do it.
It’s hard tho
Can make one for how to deal with counter punchers, ones who just sits there and waits for you to act? Thx
Go for a more a faint heavy approach and try to counter the counters
Or shell.up and get close
@@ethanwertz3251 ye I would say feinting would be the best way
Just throw very light high volume combos so that he doesn’t have a clear shot to counter and the up the power at the end of the combo
Another thing to consider is that to rely on hard counter punches, they have to set their feet, so keep the opponent off balanced or moving on the back foot if you can.
The Best video I've seen from you! I always got in troble when I face pressuare fighters, even when they're less experienced than me. I'll take and practice this lesson, particularly the 3 and 4 topics! Thanks! 🥊
Man this dude his boxing tips amazing

Thank you coach, I needed this especially the bully part.
It's always been difficult for me to deal with the rush. Especially when the guy is stronger because I'm not the strongest guy. It's overwhelming to my nervous system and it's one of my weaknesses.
Cheers Tony for all your videos - love the channel with all your experience and knowledge.
Excellent tips! If only I'd found this channel before I stepped in the ring. Watching your channel has made me realise that my trainer put me in completely unprepared and I suspect was just concerned with getting paid for getting bodies into the show. Thanks Tony.
you should search for my 10 sparring tips mate - search it on youtube sparring tips tony jeffries
Thank you Tony! Another great tips with a very good explanations.
Good stuff . This I feel is great to learn Bc whether your in a ring or self defense situation whether u faced a trained or un trained fighter many have this style . Hard hits is the key to keeping them off you . If they don’t respect your power there gonna come in on u and u have to work even harder to keep em off u or to defend or counter
Beautiful advice from a master of the craft! Needed advice on fighting a pressure fighter and this hit everything right on!

Thank you Mr M, means a lot
Excellent skills and tips, thank you, sir.
My son loves your videos he forwards them to me constantly he’s a tall long armed 80 lb 11 year old boxer. Short pressure fighters give him a lot of trouble. This is by far his favorite of your videos.
Amazing insight! It would be great if you made videos about matchups. As in tactics to employ dealing with different styles, whether it be southpaw vs orthodox, boxer vs brawler, etc.
Cheers, thanks again.
Also want to say, I save vids like these in a certain folder for exercises, I would want to like 'm, but that way I cannot keep it organized.
Thank you this is very helpful

Great advice man. My biggest problem I think is getting too macho and thinking I need to brawl with this guy as well and inadvertently end up fighting his fight. I need to keep my guard up as well.
Very Helpful Info 💪👍🥊

Thanks for the tips Man, would you mind doing a clip on how to deal with boxers who dont throw much combination but love to stalk and load power punches on you with high accuracy ? these type of boxers really give not just me, but many others, alot of troubles !

I'm a southpaw, I've been training for 2 years and I've never had a problem like this. Another southpaw started training just a month ago. He is taller and, although he lacks skill, he is a great pressure fighter. On low contact I was cornered and used a lot of dodge, but I couldn't get out of range. I'm going to put these tips of yours up to date.
