If those are indeed resonant chambers (if they are hollow inside), they will serve to reduce induction noise. The general rule is to get the as close to the capacity of the engine to balance out resonance. Have a look at Lexus and how Yamaha tuned their intake to completely silence the car. The volume of the resonant chambers is exactly the same as the capacity as the engine and this is achieved through the use of multiple resonant chambers, some close to the intake and some further down the track closer to the filter and even some pre-filter. The different locations no doubt help cancel out the different Hz at different loads and rpms. I don't know if the ones closer to the intake cancel the high Hz or low Hz. Removing the ones furthest from the intake pre-filter revealed that idle can be felt and smoothness at idle deteriorated. Removing middle one revealed no difference at low-load but increased mid-range roar at full-throttle idle to red-line sweep. I have not removed the one closest to the intake. Using this logic we can conclude that the resonant chamber is to reduce noise however I can't say at what parameter (Hz, load, rpm etc.) as these are very small volume and very close to the intake. Personally, if you wanted the full intake induction roar, all resonant chambers should be removed. I would also agree that removing them would also smooth the air-flow path. If anything, making the chambers bigger would simply reduce intake resonance generally. I do suspect that Maserati kept them as minimal as possible to keep the intake roar but cancel out the V8 rumble from the cross-plane crank design as much as feasible while still keeping the roar.
I think it needs to be combined with upgraded air intake too, to make the sound deeper. Perhaps little difference can be felt in 4.7 qp or Granturizmo with oval exhaust, but on 4.2 it'll definitely be a deeper growl...
video audio hard to do justice. Plus its not loud as you thought it would be. it is just slight sound equally in the cabin at high rev. but for normal driving there's no different.
I watched this video over several times, just hoping that I could convince myself that there was some difference. Man, they sound exactly the same. That sucks.
I found them going for a reasonable price in eBay but like everyone else here despite the affordable price, it was hard, however not impossible, to perceive the difference. Couple of Questions my friends, (And of course I have one of these cars it's why I'm even here) what are these things originally for? (What do they actually do?) and What would happen if they were removed completely?
they are there to producing more deep throttle rev. it is not a significant difference just slightly. is it worth the money? it's all depending on you and how you love your car and like to mod here and there. personally, i like the way it looks than the OEM, secondly, I just feel its slightly deep throttle in the cabinet. So its all depend. hope that help. The truth, is i do not get any commission so i am not asking you to click here or punch the keyword. its a user to a user
They are also their incase your engine back fires some of the pressure has a plce to go without blowing off intake hoses alot of cars have these but different design
Why would anyone replace those with larger ones??? I would immediately remove the stock ones and cap the ends. Those “sound chambers” do nothing but rob airflow..
There isn't supposed to be a difference.. Its like the "electric supercharger".. I simply replaced the whole piece with a 4" to 3.5" intake tube which just delete those baffles all together. Now that sounds NICEEE to compliment the exhaust. This set up doesn't un-muffle the sound enough to be worth it. Literally what you are paying for is the tool to remove the clamps that it comes with.
I was sarcastic. Cause you know, even with earphones I can't notice any difference at all. Maybe you should have use a hifi microphone or anything that can demonstrate the benefit of buying a new sound chamber.
Bought them...love them! 2014 Gran Cabrio.

Okay well all that sounds good and complicated but all I know is it made my gran turismo sound better and deeper! And I have the 4.7.
it sounds ....exactly the same
lol
I guess it is kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to stream newly released series online?
@Randy Fisher flixportal =)
@Dangelo Terrance thanks, I went there and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it!!
@Randy Fisher no problem :)
I replaced mine as well on my MC Sportline. Not much difference. The main changes came with the Urutu x pipe and induction kit.
What changes did you notice and is it a worthwhile purchase ? Thanks

I noticed the difference in sound in my 4.7 when I switched.
Probably need a better mic to pickup any change. I listened with quality headphones and could barely hear a change.
Dont hear any difference

I bought this and I didn't hear any difference between stock are the custom.
Same
Why Not Exhaust Clip From Behind?
I watched this video over several times, just hoping that I could convince myself that there was some difference. Man, they sound exactly the same. That sucks.
In person you hear a slight difference. I changed them on my 4.7.

Just to show off emblems looks cool when hood is opened that's it think about it at the intake come on maybe at exhaust could make a difference
Not much of a performance more of cosmetic
They are also their incase your engine back fires some of the pressure has a plce to go without blowing off intake hoses alot of cars have these but different design
Anything you’d like to change doesn’t help if the sound is already perfect enough.
Just for showing off Maserati emblem that's it has no other use just looks cool when opening hood
Why would anyone replace those with larger ones??? I would immediately remove the stock ones and cap the ends. Those “sound chambers” do nothing but rob airflow..
i was thinking the same
Hello. Are you still selling these? I bought them from you some years ago and wondering if you still make them or have some leftover stock.
I got them from Julan, great great to do business with -JULIANNINO@comcast.net just mention referred from TQP9999
It does nothing
Whats this?? How does it help or wth is sound chamber?? Blow off valce or some ????????
sound champer just making the throttle rev slightly deeper than oem
it's a really really tiny difference from the upgrade
Somebody call Jaime Sommers
What is that will do

And after, what sound it makes?
just a slightly deeper throttle not a lot just a hint
I was sarcastic. Cause you know, even with earphones I can't notice any difference at all. Maybe you should have use a hifi microphone or anything that can demonstrate the benefit of buying a new sound chamber.
Anything for Ghibli induction
Is it just me or does it sound the exact same
Waste of money...
Yes it is..
Same thing, no difference
Where can I buy this product ??
www.ebay.com/itm/Maserati-GranTurismo-Quattroporte-upgraded-sound-chambers-free-clamp-tool/292270901792 - mention "TQP" and he should take care of you
I really want to buy this
A waste of the three min it took to install
tbh the before sounded better to me
lol , c'est comme la trape a essence ca
This is a joke, right?
Huuuum not convinced pal.
