Friends, there are some mistakes in the video that I've noticed later on. It wasn't really my day of filming, I had a little bit of a bad day since I did like two cars before the Maserati. First mistake was I said it is a Gran Turismo, which is not true, it's a Quattroporte, and it was also the Quattroporte Automatica and the Quattroporte S. Then I said it is belt-driven, which is wrong, it's a chain drive, like all Ferraris. From that age. The third mistake I did was saying the codename of the engine was F156, which is not true, it's an F136. I apologize, but since I bought the car, I will correct the review again.
I have a 2013 year model. I bought it used. Everything works. It just makes me a little mad after I replaced all the shocks due to age and the valve cover gaskets myself. Tons of stuffs had to be removed to complete those tasks. Not to mention how mad I was when I did the engine and transmission mounts. But listening the engine rumble while driving it, makes up for all of the above.
As a 2017 Maserati Granturismo owner, I can promise you that all of these electrical issues you're having can be rectified by installing a new battery and then plugging it into a trickle charger every night. Everything that you mentioned are common issues with Maserati's and easily solvable. I hope this helps.
how much does it on average cost to own though? they seem to be generally solid but thats if you maintain it well and maintaining it is quite costly especially given how far they depreciate and people go into em thinking "got it for 35k, itll be similarly ok to maintain"
Aziz i love your videos you’re describing cars straight to the point no ”this is just my opinion” you are saying it straight to the point. Good channel 👍👍👍
I'm obviously biased but you just love the emotion, no rational human being should buy it but everyone that has even the slightest passion for cars will go absolutely mental the minute they step inside and fire up the engine!
My 2009(i'v owned since new) 4.7 Executive GT is still amazing n i get good bumps every time i drive it. 💖👍 I installed a 30-pin-to-bluetooth ($80.00) n now i listen to my iphone music. I also replaced the speakers, amp for clean sound but never over power the BEAUTIFUL EXHAUST💖. Replaced 3 engine mounts, suspension bushings, connecting rod bushings, variator...yes, i love my Maserati!
I have the 2011 QP 4.7S and like many I purchased it used 3 years ago with 50K miles on the clock. There were a few quirks with it but all those were taken care of. My engine light will come on and stay lit for a couple of days and go off. This year I had the brakes, rotors, and calipers replaced for $3500, but knowing that I only drive it about 4K miles a year, it will be 10 years before they will need to be replaced. Oil changed at the beginning of Spring every year and a through go through by the mechanic keeps the car sharp. Yes the radio is quirky but was informed by the dealer, what ever you do DO NOT change the radio! So next month the car will go to the dealer to have the radio, CD player and CD changer looked at, setting aside $3k for the work. Other than that I love this car! By the way, Hagerty Insurance is a great money saver!
as a lover of an Italian car... for almost 16 years old and so many km it looks like new. The little things you also have with other brands BMW, Mercedes... but with Italian cars it is mentioned as standard...
A wise genius of a man once said "owning this car is like having a 2 year old child- its really annoying a lot of the time but if someone tried to take it from you, youd kill them"
Just buy it, great car, super enjoyable on longer road trips, immensely satisfying to wring that V8 out at high speeds on the German autobahn. It looks lowered to me or the wheels are too big, ride will be much better with original tyres sizes from a premium brand. The Nexens are good in general, but don't work well on heavy cars like this. The QP5 is also very sensitive when it comes to alignment. Reliability is not an issue, these type of cars are intended for people that have multiple cars anyway ;) About all the small stuff that breaks, yeah, you are right, it's true, but don't forget they made very very few of them compared to the germans and these are all more or less hand built. Greetings from a fellow QP5 owner ;)
IF: I thought I could afford a second car that requires the expensive maintenance this one does, I’d have one myself. Everything about it is simply gorgeous. Except the cost of ownership. I’m old and way too practical. So I’ll just admire them from afar.
The dash lights don't come on with the headlights unless it's dark, they are controlled by a light sensor on the dash. I thought my instrument lights were broken until I drove under some trees and they came on. Also, the Quattroporte should handle well for a 2 tonne car, so maybe yours has some wear in the steering or suspension.
10:10 the elictric window has broken in every car model ever made(not every car)...... even new 200+k cars e windows break.... I buy cars to drive with feling and joy not for moving ass or for tech.
Love this car it is a classic a real masterpiece piece . I much prefer this over the new version . I would definitely consider buying one now that I could actually afford because no way can I afford a new one . Of coarse I would be realistic and expect not all will be perfect and prepare for some expensive repairs
Great review, good attitude. Small detail though; I think the engine differs from the Ferrari application - Maseratis version doesn't have a Flat Plane crank... But I might be wrong. Anyhow - real nice Channel 👍
I choose Maserati at first because of Ferrari engine and ZF transmission, come on man this is a beautiful combination and one of the great achievement of human race, but now? I choose Maserati because of poltrona frau’s leather and mahogani wood interior, it is so emotionaly satisfying. It is beautiful car

German reliability is why in the US you can pick up a SL600 Merc for $4k. They are so plagued with electrical and engine issues no one wants them. As for BMW, they go straight to salvage after 100k miles. Even Alpinas aren't worth the bother.
So much wrong with this review. It’s an executive saloon, I’m not sure why you assume it would be in any way faster than it is. Compare it to the same generation a8, s class and 7 series then get back to me on running costs. So many of the complaints mentioned are quite uncalled for a 15 year old car… and the engine code is f136 and chain driven not belt.
Man that wasn’t really my day filming to be honest i did a couple of mistakes on that day which im sorry for. First i said granturismo instead of quattroporte, then i said f156 instead f136 and i said belt instead of chain which is really dumb. Obviously i knew it i reviewed it but we filmed like 3 cars that day so sorry for that. By the way i bought it so im officially in the club and a bunch more reviews are coming.
Who cares about acceleration numbers anymore? An electric Kia or Huyndai is fast. Who loves them? Old air cooled Porsches aren't that fast by today's standards but they cost a fortune and are among the most desirable cars you can buy. It's not about those numbers at all. Enjoy your beautiful car man.
BMW brakes after 10 years, even sooner (plastic engines)! Mercedes is not what it used to be, and Audi is a case of its own, and so on, so Maserati is still an icon, just regular maintenance it will work for years (changing oil is not that expensive)!
You are wrong! It is the F136Y Engine, there is no F156 Engine from Ferrari at all. The next would be the F154 but it is turbocharged and not in this Car! You‘ve got no idea. Every Car Guy would know this. I have the GranTurismo with that Engine (but in the 460 PS Version) and it is the much better Car indeed. Everything works like new. Yes, you‘ll need a fat Pocket to replace all the Maintenance but nothing got broken in the past 6 Years, when i bought it new.
Sorry about that i said f156 meaning to say f136 i noticed it when it was to late and i also said granturismo instead of quattroporte. We had a Granturismo kn tje review and i confused it. My bad

So you are mad because the windows don’t work, you know what also didn’t work. The radio, blown fuse had to replace it. The cupholders broke too, have to replace them also.
I am not mad...when you make a review about a car you have to talk about how the car feels when you are driving it...not for what is broken and the owner hasn't fixed...you mention the right window that didn't 10 times...what do you want...to humiliate the car? you can't!
I like this car to. Due to its complicated and sensitive technology in combination with a Ferrari engine, you must have a well-filled wallet to continue to maintain it. the parts are also a problem and very expensive. The timing chain must be replaced every 20,000 km, which is also an expensive job. Electronics is a drama with these cars, so you can have it better as a second car.
Of course things would break down after many years, what did you expect? Unbreakable car? Things get worn out. You just need to replace those parts. I think he is dumb that doesn't understand it.
😂😂everybody wants this kind of Exhaust sound but nobody buy this maserati because it has awful driveshaft and gearbox (if you buy manuel it s OK) AND also engine designed for just only 100K miles after the limit you have to buy new engine. In my country this kind of cars called " mushroom s cars " because it s always bought by persons who dont understand the car technology

The Quattroporte with ZF gearbox is pretty reliable, I owned 1 for 3 years and, despite the costly standard maintenance, you can use it without fear
