The scene where Billie Piper’s character begs to be allowed to remember her child is one of the best pieces of acting I have ever seen. She is utterly amazing, and I never fail to have tears each time I watch that scene.
They had no interesting in writing the 3rd season, as obvious with their writing and them saying so. You don't write a character like Vanessa to be strong to then just give up.
They managed to put so much beauty into it too, just the moment where the creature offers Vanessa comfort and a flicker of light while he should have been the last person capable of seeing that light in the first place...
It's amazing how many different ways to tell Dracula's story depending on the author with this one could say he truly is immortal his story has outlived Bram stoker himself

It's such a shame John Logan was forced to say that it was always supposed to end after three seasons. Logan intended on five seasons altogether. Josh Hartnett had said Logan had told him season four was going to be mostly set in Egypt with him and the character of Ferdinand Lyle in tow. The cast and crew were told midway through shooting season three that Showtime had cancelled the show, hence why everything was so rushed as a lot had to be rewritten. So many new characters were introduced that went nowhere. Brilliant show though. Great video!

My late Mother and I when I was a child, would watch movies and TV shows (Dark Shadows) and I would read the books. I went to a very progressive school programs in NYC in the mid 60’s and 70’s😊. Thank you for covering this series. Just some random suggestions for vampire films or shows to review: -Thirst (by Chan Wook Park) -Only Lovers Left Alive -A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night -The Wisdom of Crocodiles -The Hunger -Byzantium -Dark Shadows (show might be better) -Nosferatu (1922) -Cronos (by Guillermo del Toro) -Blood Ties (this one is free to watch on RUclips, so here is that) -A Discovery of Witches -Dracula (NBC)(2013) -being human (UK and USA, both are great) -Shadow of the Vampire (about the creation of the film Nosferatu, with Willem Defoe and John Malkovich)
Love this show! They made the right call ending it when they did but i still wish they would have continued with spin offs (instead of city of angels which had nothing to do with the original show ). I love the idea of a shared universe of this classic victorian era gothic horror fiction characters Also, would you be willing to make a video about the other supernatural creatures in this show? Werewolves, witches ( day walkers and night comers) and the immortals created by dr. Frankenstein
*Timothy Dalton* had the most interesting character.. the show should’ve been about him - a man who’s daughter is taken as a bride of Dracula, so he uses his wealth and the servant he brought from his expedition to Africa - to hunt down Vampires with a vengeance.
Penny Dreadful was some seriously terrifying storytelling. I didn't even finish it. Dr Frankenstein was my favorite, and of course I recognized him in Mr.Mercedes. I *loved* THAT. Psychological horror is my vibe.
It's also a story about - who is a monster and who isn't. Vanessa - was the reincarnation of Amunet - at the same time she was Vanessa, NOT an evil character - fought her demons and died a hero. All of the characters had that "give into the darkness" conflict. VERY good story. I'm glad this popped up in my feed - it's a really watch I'm going to thoroughly enjoy.

Wow, I totally disagree. The UK version is incredible, especially when it was George and Annie era. I think when they first moved to Wales, that was the high point. The series that had the drunk zombie girl and the succubus school teacher? Bloody incredible!! Would 100% recommend. Also misfits, again, the earliest seasons are the best, but all really good. Plus the music on misfits...🖤🖤
I have never heard of this show, but I will definitely check it out after your great video!
this is an amazing video!I miss this show so much!Would you make other talking about the other monsters of the show please?
Please do the vampires from "Necroscope", I know it's a book but they are extremely interesting and have very unique abilities.
The Lumley novel vampires? I read his novels a long time ago....loved them.
@@3PercentNeanderthal yup, I've asked before but I'm still hoping he'll make the video
You say that as if its a bad thing... Like, please, i know its just a shitty book sir, but please wont you just once make an exception and ( ptughh, spit taste out ) review that lowest of forms, cringe, the written word?!
@@jeffwinkler1137 calm down lol I just said it like that because he only does visual media
@@cryptopsyrin4425 i know i just needed to stand up for ye olde printing press for a minute bc im tired of seeing comments about how wow man thats an ancient literary classic?! Cool i thought it was StarReavers 3 on PlayStation6!!
Chapelwaite is another great show about vampires based on the novel form Stephen King, I definitely recommend to watch!
You have a pretty cool channel here. I love indulging my interests in vampires and other supernatural beings with your channel. Thank you 🙂
Awesome break down!!
I loved this show so much.
Nearly cried when it was cancelled.
It was excellent.
They technically can bring it back! If they have to wait for her, I’d say that’s an awesome premise.
Thanks for a great video on one of my all-time favorite shows!
I was actually looking for something else to watch. Thank You.
It wasnt Vanessa's dark magic that banished the devil from her, it was Ethan speaking the word of God in Latin. One of the greatest scenes on TV ever imo
Fantastic summary. Thank you
Hey Love your videos .Sitting here binge watching your videos ? Have you considered covering the vampires and werewolves from the show The Originals ? That show was interesting too .
Perhaps do a video on the game Vampyr, if you haven't already.
And I absolutely love your videos so far
Penny Dreadful is a phenomenal series!!! It should have kept going!
Love these ytb subtitles: Insted of Amun Ra we have Almond Raw
Another great video. Amazing
This video has made me go and start watching the show, admittedly im only on episode three but I am enjoying it very much
I think the master vamps are directly created by Dracula. And the Master vamps create the lower vamps.
Absolutely love this series..can't count how many times I've watched it ...own the DVD series
Great video! Maybe Chaplewaite next?
Good 👍 show 👏 👌 I can't wait for the next episode 😍 🙌🎥
Penny Dreadful is definitely on my top 5 list of takes on the supernatural. But what impressed me most was the brilliant performance of the actors. And I mean all of them. Not only the actors but the people behind the camera as well.
I miss this show so much. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Love the vids and lore 🎉
Bond, a bond girl and an M1 6 operative .How could they not whip a few demons 😂😅
Just some random suggestions for vampire films or shows to review:
-Thirst (by Chan Wook Park)
-Only Lovers Left Alive
-A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night
-The Wisdom of Crocodiles
-The Hunger
-Byzantium
-Dark Shadows (show might be better)
-Nosferatu (1922)
-Cronos (by Guillermo del Toro)
-Blood Ties (this one is free to watch on RUclips, so here is that)
-A Discovery of Witches
-Dracula (NBC)(2013)
-being human (UK and USA, both are great)
-Shadow of the Vampire (about the creation of the film Nosferatu, with Willem Defoe and John Malkovich)
Another good vid kind sir. U should do Dylan Dog Dead of Night....plenty of vampires and werewolves in tht one
I know it would be a massive undertaking, but the original Dark Shadows was an amazing and groundbreaking supernatural soap opera.
The spoiler is quite aggravating. Alas, I thank you deeply for discovering this series for me.
I love this show. I've already rewatched it about 2 or 3 times. Kinda want to rewatch it again.
Where can I watch this show⁉️
Love this show! They made the right call ending it when they did but i still wish they would have continued with spin offs (instead of city of angels which had nothing to do with the original show ). I love the idea of a shared universe of this classic victorian era gothic horror fiction characters
Also, would you be willing to make a video about the other supernatural creatures in this show? Werewolves, witches ( day walkers and night comers) and the immortals created by dr. Frankenstein
*Timothy Dalton* had the most interesting character.. the show should’ve been about him - a man who’s daughter is taken as a bride of Dracula, so he uses his wealth and the servant he brought from his expedition to Africa - to hunt down Vampires with a vengeance.
Good insights great video.
