Even with that little half step, I agree! I remember hearing this on the Beat Tour 1982. Another great version of Red in the Philly area. DGM released the entire show.
Fantastic sound. I remember the first show and some comment about how Danny was just a grunge drummer over his head. This is the finest group on tour currently imo. Thanks for sharing this great Band.
Someone said that about carey? Oh my word. Personally i feel that he is playing on his level. He has given so much to drumming its off the charts in league with bruford bozzio and peart. Some of his stuff has never been done before. His main band waxes and wanes for me but clearly beat is great. I saw some skepticism for vai too. Vai is awesome. I love that stuff. I love beat. Bb.
@@marvelherman419 Someone always has to criticize. People just should relax and enjoy the music. Of course Bruford and Fripp are not there but that is not the point. And Fripp gave Vai his blessing and the members of KC have interacted with Tool in the past and met Carey.
@@DanielBlockMD yeah its a very special band. I know this. I feel its a sign. I feel them worthy of each other and casting a new light on the songs renders them quite distinguishable. I saw tool with crimson at red rocks amphitheatre. I havent thought of that in a while. Phenomenal band that beat. I get so thrilled watching them.
I hope they return to the south. I had some issues this tour and had to unload my tickets. I am living the Beat vicariously through these wonderfully recorded audio/video captures!!! Thank you so much for sharing! Thank you Beat/Fripp for allowing the recording. *tension and release* ;)
Thanks for the wonderful music it's epic, sounds like Radiohead took "INSPIRATION" from this for JUST , in the same way they took "INSPIRATION" for CREEP from THE HOLLIES the air that I breathe MMM MAKES YOU THINK 🤔🤔 . HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND AND PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
There will be an inevitable live album, which I cannot wait for. I wonder though. Would they consider making an actual album? As a KC project? This band is more than a covers band. It feels like it could take on a life of its own if given a chance.
I saw a performance of this the other day from earlier in the tour and it was appalling with Adrian completely fluffing the intro, the guitars getting out of tune and a poor ending. It was disappointing. However, this is great!
It was a little rough in places for sure in the beginning. I could sense the desire for greatness focus and passion. they kept at it. Not an easy task for anyone. They got better and better better. I love beat.
I've seen a few performances from this arrangement and Vai always looks like he's out of place as he tries to sneak small bits of acrobatics into his playing mid song or struggles to harmonize with Adrian or play some of the Fripp parts.
I think Stevie did a great job playing Robert. Vai has been working with Fripp for months preparing to play the pieces and discussing techniques, while still maintaining a bit of Stevie in there.
Me me me!!! I saw Crimson in '82. Don't get me wrong, Carey's great but Bruford had that SOUND I crave and was able to dominate while hardly breaking a sweat. He's planning his return to the music stage now and I can hardly wait to see what he has up his sleeve. I'm glad Belew and Levin are back together again and playing great music with great players, but like the last years of King Crimson, Beat is looking back and not forward. Long live new music!
I was there too and it was indeed an incredible show. So much energy and Adrian Belew's joy is infectious. I was really impressed with Danny Carey.I am not a Tool fan but damn he took it to another level. Tony Levin is so consistently amazing that nothing surprises me when he is on stage. I saw him with Stick Men in August at a small venue and they were great. Steve Vai brought his own interpretation to the music and added to it, especially on Sheltering Sky.
Saw 2 shows so far.....BEAT is a gift that is so incredible!
Looking forward to number 3 before the tour ends.
Thanks guys!!! Please do it again!!!!
R.I.P. John Wetton
Special mention
🌞thank you🍀
Wetton’s bass sounds on Crimson have been massively inspirational to my playing, and that voice! Sorely missed.
On the 50th anniversary (10/6/74) of Red. Thank you. Amazing!
Very interesting note thank you🌞🍀✌️
watched fripp at daryls house do this, that was crazy, this is superb.
Thank you so much for capturing this footage. I was there.
I've seen/listened to many versions of "Red," both in-person and on recordings, since 1981 -- and this is one of the best.
Even with that little half step, I agree! I remember hearing this on the Beat Tour 1982. Another great version of Red in the Philly area. DGM released the entire show.
Vai hitting his stride, getting better and better as the tour progresses 👍🏻
This trajectory of music had a massive effect on my way of life thanks guys
Mine too...
DITTO!
Red (album) is a 10/10 album. So frigging awesome.
Masterpiece
that put a huge smile on my face! Danny is sounding awesome!
They're having fun and the music speaks for itself. There it is.
Beat has found its' groove!

@@DanielBlockMD Yes. Fripp has made guest appearances onstage with Tool. Why anybody would bang on Danny Carey like that is incomprehensible to me.
@@andyharman3022 Danny Carey played on Adrian Belew’s Side One album
One of the great harmonized guitar rock riffs of all time!
I saw them Friday 11/1 in Chicago & Sunday 11/3 in Madison, WI. Incredible shows!
Chicago show was amazing.
It’s so refreshing to see the Maestro on the left make a, shall we say, 'wrong call' at the very end. Now I appreciate him even more. :-)
Clam Crimsonesque
Don't tell Fripp about it!
Steve fit like a glove i.m.h.o. bravo VIP Clearwater Fl
Tony Levin and that iconic yellow Music Man bass killin' it!
That's a gig I would have enjoyed...a lot
Thanks for sharing...very nice video.
Great music and performance. I love this band. Fun seeing musicians being free and stuck on a beat track. The music and musicians are real!
This sounds amazing.
Could have mentioned John Wetton also.
Not 81-84.
@guitarista67 exactly, he didn't talk about the trilogy lineup from 72 to 74, just the 81 to 84 lineup
Why the fuck would he have done that. Brufors wasnt in the band at the time, dumbass.
The dreaded tritone. Musical sorcery.
An absolute jewel🌞
Nice!
F yeah! Man, I really wish I had gotten tickets for this tour. Awesome!

The original has a very dark vibe, this is more cheerful.
John Wetton's bass.
Me love you
very many’s BK🌼
Thk U 🌞
I saw day 2 in Napa and I agree that they look more relaxed and they’re gelling better. They look like they’re finally having fun
Nice camera work by the way. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful, thank you.
Genial,!!
DAMN DAMN DAMN AMAZZZZZING !!!!!!
THIS IS NOT A COVER BAND = THIS IS KING CRIMSON !!!!!
holy cripes boys leave some for the rest of us
The arrangement that transported me to the thin space when I first heard it live. Beautiful. Heavenly.
Vai is hatless for a change!
Dwoaj wielcy na scenie (gitarzysci)❤

Fripp, Wetton, Bruford can’t be matched in my book
tony levin is a bass beast

What Brand of metronome do you use?
It's called a Steve Vai!
I've seen a few performances from this arrangement and Vai always looks like he's out of place as he tries to sneak small bits of acrobatics into his playing mid song or struggles to harmonize with Adrian or play some of the Fripp parts.

Not the first time Danny drags so far behind the beat. He did it playing the Rush song.
BETTER than King Crimson
Who needs Bruford?
Or prefers him?
This band does.......

@@henrycow203 Saw Crimson in '72 with Bruford and Jamie Muir spitting blood and swinging chains. Nobody like them. Sorry.
Kidding right? Danny on drums is just okay, he could have actually learned some of the parts, everyone else did
So out of tune haha
this drummer is having a tough time .... ouch
AMEN.
