This is an "alternate version" as in "alternate take". They performed Sylvia followed by Hocus Pocus (seen here) as a medley. They performed two takes. This is the alternate take that was not aired, the other take was aired and released. This is the alternate take never before seen until now. This is the raw unaired footage, very rare.
Everybody remembers where they were and what they were doing when they first heard it.

I bought this in 1971 I think, old age is setting In now. I was 9 at the time and I bought it for my elder Sister's birthday in November. When I found out a couple of year's later that she did'nt like it, it went into my at the time very small collection of 45's, where it still sit's along with a slightly larger collection these day's. 4 very talented musician's. We were so lucky to have that generation of group's in the 60's and 70's.

I saw the first time they did this on OGWT in the UK. Parents were upstairs in bed so I dared to raise the TV volume! Superb ! Never regretted staying up so late having to be at college so early the next day!
Magnificent drumming,he makes it look easy,guitar and bass off the charts loved them the first time I heard them in 1973.
The Dutch drummer is a real one, !!!! He is always using a single base pedal and the rest .... is only his drumming TALENT - that's all !!!! Unbelievable !!!!

There's plenty of current prog music on RUclips that is exciting and fun. One of my favs is the Ozric Tentacles "Pixel Dream" from Live at the Pongmaster's Ball. Absolutely amazing musicianship. The guitar solos are other worldly. Intense is an understatement.

Having seen Focus live 4 times I since 2000's they are still an excellent live show - Thijs doesnt quite do the high yodelling, but makes up for it musically ! Pierre must sleep in a box, the guy doesnt seem to age, not al teast behind the drums - phenominal player. I really hope there is a tour in 2022, I need my hocus pocus !

I went on a binge one day and found 4 or 5 live versions of this on RUclips, and its amazing how different they all are.... I mean the same, but different! I had not seen this one as it's clearly a rehearsal or a blown take.

What happened to whispering Bob Harris, the Whistle Test was the greatest live band show ever. I don’t think any vocals today could compare with Thijs van Leer, incredible.

I watched a jan Ackerman interview and originally this song was longer but not sure what tv program it was but he they had a time limit to play the song so they actually went and played it faster than the original way it was written
