As a South African I don't see any legitimate strategy in this talk. My advice to my government would be to start investing in our military. Long gone are the days of Nelson Mandela, it's time to beef up our military, as we now leaving in a volatile world. We live in a time when leaders go to war over emotions. Why would you want to fight Rwanda in a Congo jungle that you have no military intelligence about, a backyard of M23 and Rwanda. Military leadership decisions are not for emotional people, who have the strongman syndrome. My advice to my president whether I agree with him or not is to stand down, think logically and not emotionally. Rebuild your military strategically and wait for the strongman of this world to implode, 'cause they alway do. One thing you can admire about China is no matter how confrontational the west is, they never change their posture and act tough. They continue with their way of life, while no doubt behind the scenes you can be sure their are building strategically where it matters most. Now that's what South Africa should emulate. If they call you a coward, let them and be better for it but never allow emotions to take the lead. Wars are vampires to any countries economy, and foolish people never think that far.

South Africa also has thermal/ infrared imaging, which means their is no hiding. They can attach this to various aircraft or vehicles. Don't forget besides their standing military their are numerus PMC armies in South Africa that can can call upon. In terms of logistics and manufacture, South Africa has the capability to manufacture ammunition, rockets, aircraft, tanks etc. So as much as a good hit and run can work, they ( SA) have the capability to do advanced recon and the power to pack a punch. Lets say god forbid, that this war broke out and South Africa used the Congo as ground platform to launch attacks into Rwanda, even if Rwanda used hit and run, scored causalities etc, they would suffer a greater price, in terms of resources and manpower, not to mention the bombing of infrastructure and other targets. It is not a war they want to get into. This a war that neither country should get involved in, needless death. As much as people would say that SA and it's military is in neglect, they are still capable and do have very capable leadership.

Ok, Rwandans, you wouldn't survive a week with SANDF. SA is better resourced, however SA lacks the political reason to fight Rwanda except to assuage the ego of its President.
Kagame is a professional troll and he knows that he can embarass SA and get away with it because it would be a political disaster if SA were to attempt to fight Rwanda. Kagame can posture and honk all he likes, SA will never have enough reasons to march to Kigali.

But still, there would still be no reason for SA doing that except for ego.
