In 2015 Amsterdam based composer Joep Beving composed and recorded his debut solo album “Solipsism” at home in the still of night. The album is filled with introspective and often filmic piano compositions. Beving’s sound could be described as the opposite to over-produced and complexly layered music styles. His ambition for “Solipsism” is to keep the music stripped back to its essence: simple sounds to express complex emotions. It represents a quest for essence and beauty, expressed in a neo-classical vocabulary.
“Solipsism” refers to the philosophical idea that reality only exists in one’s mind. Everything outside of it, the external world and the minds of others, cannot truly be known and hence does not exist. Beving’s music is an experiment in existential communication, a belief in an absolute aesthetic, to prove that a universal and metaphysical reality does exist.
The production and release of the album (digital & vinyl) is completely independent.
In this video Joep Beving is playing "Midwayer" at his album release on 19 March 2015.

I know I'm kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good website to stream newly released movies online?
i live for these things.
Maybe these things live for you.
This is song of my life. Pure perfection. I want it to play on my funeral. For sure.
Reminds me of my late friend David Tong who was a prodigal pianist and tragically crashed a plane delivering food to remote villages in PNG.
This music touch my soul
I Can't Explain How Beautiful This Is...
You don't have to ;)
This is just perfect. The balance between light and dark is immense. Bravo...
1. Open two RUclips tabs
2. put Joep Beiving in one tab and sounds of thunderstorm in the other
3. listen
4. Profit

I owe you a drink/smoke/whatever the hell your poison may be.

In these insane times when Covid makes you feel helpless, such pieces help me to still find some reason…
I wish that you can compose for a romantic movie one day. You create a heart warming music.
My gosh, so beautiful and romantic yet somber and haunting.
I'm a violinist (who wishes they could play piano haha) and i just really love all your pieces!
Heel erg mooi, als ik mag vergelijken, ik hoor Satie, Chopin, Einaudi, Tierssen. Eén nieuwe aanwinst in pianoland.
Reminds me of what was and what could have been. Beautiful
I listen to thy music, therefore I am.
I feel like I'm floating, thank you so much for creating this album!
This is the sound of heart of art. And so amazing. Bravo
I heard it first in the Sydney Opera House and it touched my soul.
Wow
I just saw this guy in a dutch talk show and i was blown away xD
Awh 1:55 he starts to get so nervous, misses a beat, and his fingers are shaking so much. It's beautiful to see someone so timid at that age.
You’re wrong it’s part of the song
@@daviddewacht If you compare it to the original, there is almost certainly a skipped beat. It's not speaking against his ability. In fact, the organic process of live performances and adapting to a hiccup like that is very beautiful.
Harlequin Grim yeah that’s right tho
are you on crack, sir?
@@wernervonhurtsaug Always.
There's kind of an irony in this for me, how screamo metal makes me calm but this makes me cry. Beautiful thank you
Metal music, rap music, epic music, everyone has that genre of music they seek in order to calm their anger, disappointments, feelings while music like this, plays with your soul, your inner core and removes our ego, pride, vengeance and turn it into nothing but a pure picture of what humans truly want, harmony.
amazing!! i can see so much talent here .
Ongelofelijk Mooi Gespeeld..!! "Balm for the Soul'
the depth of the melody is striking
I had the good fortune to see Joep's return to Toronto last Friday (front row!) and he was kind enough to meet and greet with fans afterwards, for FREE. So many bands/performers are charging fans for that opportunity these days, it was wonderful of him to give us the chance to say hello and thank him for his amazing music.

Is that a cloth in between the hammers and the strings to dampen the sound?
I've never heard of that tactic before. is that a thing?
Alexander Lee yes it is
Is it felt perhaps?
check the felt piano from Nils Frahm, same technique i thing
Thomas Jr its also a feature on my piano, I use it if i want to play but don’t want to disturb my neighbors. My piano is like 50 years old so I been a thing for a long time

Hier gaan we nog veel van horen!
This piece of music is just gorgeous! Is there any way i could find the sheet?
Thank you for creating such a great artistic content!
There is no sheet out there now. Only of sleeping lotus. But he will right down sheets soon (:
There is also a sheet for "The light she brings" +Dogus Yaycioglu
and for the Etude :)
Is there anyone who is able to transform the music into sheet music? Ofcourse I am willing to pay. I just want to learn this particular song very badly. Please send a pm or reply.
The sheets of etude are on scripd.
Cuando dejas de hacer lo que estas haciendo, solo para escuchar y disfrutar.
4:45... C'est le piano qui convient. Et rien de plus...
... ... ... .......
I really dont like thr distorted piano sound I jave to put tje volume up way to high for comfort
Different, but I much prefer the power, subtlety, and everything in between that the Steinway D has to offer. As for the music, I would become bored soon enough.
