Cole as a storm spotter for the NWS myself, I'm thoroughly impressed by how much you've educated yourself! Bravo! Only 2 things I've noticed, 1) those clouds that are bouncing is called skud. Those can organize into a wall cloud. 2) the long rope look cloud that spans the storm is the shelf cloud but yes that's the wind moving in. Other than those 2, GREAT JOB!!! Glad you guys are safe!

Been through several Tornado watches and warnings since I moved to Texas. It's not something I think I can really get used to. If we had a storm shelter, they wouldn't be as bad, but right now we are renting a 2 story house made out of toothpicks. There is literally nowhere safe in this neighborhood if a tornado hits.

I've been in three tornadoes and that's three too many. Thank God where I was didn't take direct hits. One roared past my parents house. It took off part of the chimney and the hail trashed the siding. It was less than a football field away. The brick church across the street took a direct hit. There was nothing left except the cement pad. No sign of any part of the building, it was just gone. This twister went right through the heart of the city, three people died. My older sister, a nurse, was in the downtown ICU. It's built like a lighthouse. Giant glass structure, even the inner walls were glass so the critical patients could be easily monitored. It was perched atop the eight story hospital. She had a clear view of the funnel snaking towards the building. Fortunately it went down the other side of the main street. No one who lived here then will ever forget it. It was decades ago but every memory is etched in our minds forever. My son lives in Oklahoma city, tornado alley. I watch his weather and do a lot of praying. God bless you all and keep you safe.

Really love seeing you and Cole in your natural habitat, lol..my husband and I used to go sit and watch the storms roll in when we were dating. I grew up terrified of thunder and lightening it literally would paralyz me in my bed I couldn’t even cry out to my parents, it was truly a horrible experience. When I told my then boyfriend about my fear he explained how storms are created and I began to see them differently. Of course they can be extremely dangerous and we must always put caution and safety ahead of any interest to see too much of a storm when we should be taking shelter, but sitting and watching storms that were further off in the distance with my now husband, was something we both really loved to do.
Now we have one little boy who is almost 10, we’ve made every effort to help him understand how these storms are created and that he doesn’t have to be afraid. I love watching him run to the window and push the blinds up so he can see the storm and count 🐘 elephants between the clap of the thunder and the lightening. We use the word elephant to help count off the seconds, so if you count 15 elephant 🐘 between the thunder and the lightening you know that the storm is 3 miles out ( take the # of seconds and devised by 5) .
Praying there wasn’t any major damage to th crops ...also, maybe time to look into gettting a generator for the house for those times when the power goes out, we just bought one, I a man looking forward to getting it hooked up as we loose power about once a week.

I used to live in Tornado Alley. One hot muggy night a twister came down on us. Debris was flying everywhere. I saw a surfboard coming toward me so I jumped on it. Got to ride that twister for what seemed like hours. Went high up into the funnel where I saw cattle, a staircase, and neighbors unmet. I finally pointed the surfboard downward toward the ground and exited the tornado.
Had to walk 50 miles to get back home. Left the surfboard for another Nadosurfter. True story.

Great show today but a little bit scary.
Is one of your projects going to be to set up the basement to be a safe and comfortable storm shelter which would also be connected to a backup generator so you will have power when the power goes out from bad weather ?

If your ears didn’t pop, it wasn’t “that” close. Ask me how I know? Survived a tornado in the Nashville area last year. The first thing I would do if I still lived in a tornado prone area, is build an actual storm shelter.

I’ve lived thru many tornados. A basement is safe and Cole has a basement in his house.

@@joevano the S.W corner thing has been debunked for years... best place is below ground underneath reinforced shelter.

Remember when Parkersburg got hit a few years back? A person was killed IN THE BASEMENT when a pickup landed on them!!!
Tornadoes are nothing to joke about, they can develop very quickly!
