Such an inspirational message. We do need to take a second look/be more understanding in all situations before we go off. No one knows the cross another is carrying. Let’s be more careful of our actions especially in these trying climate
Wonderful points about being mindful... stepping outside ourselves to see people and the world objectively so we can understand and connect with others. If we are lucky, we can bring them along this journey of learning and existing more comfortably together.
I was sitting in an AA Meeting feeling sick,, shaky,, anxious and depressed.. a well dressed clean young man sat beside me.. I told him my name and asked for his it turns out he had just been released from prison and his nerves were bad.. I learned a lesson that things are sometimes not what they seem.. it was a good lesson...
Super insightful talk! It's great advice to take a step back and consider what you don't know in a given situation. It's way too easy/natural to conjure a story to explain away problems, challenges, the behavior of others, etc. Allowing yourself to indulge in a false sense of certainty indeed can lead to misunderstanding, miscommunication and missed opportunities! Tough to remember when you're in the thick of it, but so critical to living a healthy and mindful life! Thank you for the great content, Keren!
Yeah she looked out the window for a brief moment and not the whole duration of the flight, she would rather be preoccupied with the baby who also did not get a window seat.
Of course I know that I don’t know what I don’t know. It’s a no brainer. Obviously if I know what I don’t know then I know what I previously did not know.
Yes, but if we know certain truths, which are logically incompatible with the hypothetical unknowns, then this is sufficient to exclude the unknowns. The argument that ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’ doesn’t stand up if they can be logically discounted
You don’t know what you don’t know, that’s true. In your story her husband left her and that translated into a positive message. The opposite can also be true where in a situation where you are positive and made certain decisions based on that but the positive ness was not warranted. Then that decision was in fact an incorrect decision.
Dear Sir, D-K indeed would have been very ironic as it is in itself a form of cognitive bias AND the total opposite of the whole point conveyed in this talk. I made that statement - as many others - as a joke - and one that made the audience laugh, though it was not audible. I am sorry this did not land, and so appreciate your taking the time to watch and to comment. No matter, I hope you appreciate my taking the time to reply to you, too. I wish you all the best.
Keren Eldad dear Keren, thank you for taking the time to reply. Clearly, my radar for self-deprecating humour was not good enough to detect yours that day. So I politely withdraw my unfair comment, and wish you many good days and all the best!
What is the opposite of the condition she is talking about? Like if someone over-challenges what they think they know? That you dont only "see one way out of this" but unlimited ways out of this, to the point that a choice becomes almost impossible?
Speaking of mothers, Has she done a video on the Israeli soldiers using unarmed pregnant Palestinian women for target practice? Seriously, I would like to see it.
Maybe you should tell people what it means to enter God's temple. I know the who what when where why and how. If you are not talking about prayer, you know nothing.
Why can't you just avoid the mother with the small child? Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Also, the Jewish stereotypes got very boring, very quickly.
Moving from problem focus to solution focus

Love this, and Coach Keren. Too often we jump to conclusions and pass judgement without the full picture

Needed this today. So true. We don’t know what we don’t know. Trying to be more positive about our future at large. Great Ted talk!

You should fly less and roadtrip more.
I think she had a moment of clarity!
Yeah she looked out the window for a brief moment and not the whole duration of the flight, she would rather be preoccupied with the baby who also did not get a window seat.
Thank you for this. This is very good. I hope many people around the United States and around the world see this. It could do a lot of good I think.
Great talk! And a perfect reminder to approach everything in life with neverending curiosity...
I know enough to see what your doing.
One of my favorite Coach Keren talks to-date. Everyone should watch and take note!

Yet I know what I know , but I fail to know what I don't know. So therefore, I dont know what I know.

Also could of ask the mother if she need help
‘... two other brilliant israelis.’ Implying that she is also brilliant... ironically high on the Dunning-Kruger curve!
