If you ask me I don't think for long as south korea is becoming more like japan and innovation is high in developing countries like china + japan is also rapidly investing in semiconductors and manufacturing of high end products recently + japan has a big advantage over others as it has been an industrial powerhouse for over 100 years

@@tiefblau2780 btw what do you think about that as South korea is ageing very quickly + it is facing very high competition from China and developing countries + ship building is a labour intensive job as most people don't want to do it and high wages will also lead to lose its competitiveness
I think that it would transform into a service based economy with a significant manufacturing like Germany and Japan

During the Korean War, Korea lost all industrial facilities. All of them were destroyed. Like Africa, there was nothing. All the buildings were destroyed. It was education that such a country developed like this. And the reason why the people did well in that education is that Korea valued education for thousands of years.

It is true that Korea has made tremendous progress over the past 70 years, and there has been a history of 36 years of colonial rule, but there are 2,000 years of recorded history before that.
It had a centralized state for nearly 500 years and was an advanced country with a systematic state system. Korea's current advancement is a return to the past, not growth from a zero base.
Korea was the first country in the world to invent metal type and was an advanced country in the East that introduced advanced technology and culture from China.

Actually, most people only know Korea's 20th century history, but Korea is actually a country with a recorded history of more than 2,500 years. And it has a history of more than 4,000 years, considering legends. Korea has been a country with a fairly rich economy and culture throughout its history, except for the late Joseon Dynasty, the 20th century, and the period of great disaster. Particularly interesting to Korean history is the development of a centralized political system for a long time, which has solidified the state system. It is unique compared to Japan and a very stable and precise political system compared to any other country in the world at the same time. However, mistakes made in the late Joseon Dynasty and tragedies in the 20th century made Korea difficult, but they eventually showed the potential to reoccur in the 20th century

japanese imperialism and the korean war ravaged koreas economy in the 20th century, but people mistakenly view korea as always having been some poor primitive society that modernized out of nowhere. yes, it struggled immensely during japanese rule, but it had been a successful, innovative civilization for centuries before then. just look back at the various dynasties like joseon and goryeo that were so rich of history and culture. this miracle growth over the last few decades was possible because korea already had a longstanding culture of intense education and hard work founded upon confucian values. koreas prowess was simply able to showcase itself once again after imperialism ended

One thing that really surprised me when I went to bookstores in Japan was the fact that each bookstore has a separate section for hate books (books with content that hate Korea), and hate books are sold in huge numbers, The Japanese colonized Korea (1910-1945), looted, plundered, killed a lot of people, forced 200,000 young Korean girls to become sex slaves for the Japanese army, and brought 3 millions of Koreans to Japan to work as forced labor.
It's shocking that people from the perpetrator country like books that hate, dislike, and condemn the victim country and its people.
The irony of history is that Japan, the Axis power that committed countless such atrocities in Asian countries and pacific islands including Korea, eventually lost World War II in 1945, but the Korean War in 1950 led to a tremendous economic revival (factories were built in Japan to produce war supplies for the U.S. and U.N. troops), and the country has been prosperous ever since.😮

During Hideyoshi's invasion of Korea in the 16th century, total strength of the Japanese army at that time was 600,000 soldiers, and only a portion of them were sent to the small country of Korea. Approximately 150,000 Japanese troops captured Seoul in three weeks, and most of the cities, including Pyongyang, in two months, even though they were across the ocean, and captured the Korean prince. The pitiful king of China's vassal state ran away from the Japanese army in tears and sought help from his suzerain, his great father, the Ming Dynasty. This war was a battle between Japan, which had an emperor, and China, which had an emperor, and the small countries merely provided a stage for the great powers to dance

Before Baekje taught Yamato letters, the Japanese did not have a writing system until the 5th century, so they walked barefoot and ate food with their hands, according to the Sui Dynasty's historical records. During the Goryeo Dynasty, Goryeo and Yuan tried to invade Japan, and in Japan, they were afraid, so they created the word "mukuri kokuri", which was used to refer to something scary. Let's talk about China. There is a record of Goryeo's envoys ridiculing the Chinese for being unwashed and dirty. The Chinese characters are the characters of the Shang Dynasty, a Dongyi people who have no relation to the Han people. The Han people were slaves to the Mongols, Xianbei, Khitans, Manchus, and Huns for thousands of years. Since ancient times, the civilized countries of East Asia were China and the Korean Peninsula, and the only Asians who could make porcelain, an ancient semiconductor, were the Chinese, Koreans. Since China has been conquered by foreign peoples for over 3,000 years, it is unclear how much of China's history is Chinese, but the Han, Song, and Ming dynasties can be clearly seen as Chinese history. Ancient India, unlike today, had hundreds of kingdoms divided into, but it was definitely a civilized region that spread Buddhism, and Thailand and Cambodia were also centralized civilized countries ruled by kings. Although Japan received advanced civilization from the Korean Peninsula and China, Japan was an isolated island that had not been exposed to continental civilization until the 1400s, and when Portugal and Spain opened their ports, it was able to absorb Western civilization and awaken, and using that power, it invaded the Korean Peninsula, which had been a leading country for generations, and even dreamed of conquering China and India. I think the rapid changes in GDP of China, S.Korea, and India are the process of countries that had been wealthy civilized countries since ancient times but temporarily became impoverished after experiencing colonies and wars regaining their original positions.

Now we're not talking about 'quality of individual lives', but about the economic power or industrial capacity of the country as a whole.
Of course, true that there are many positive signs for sk as the center of global industry is shifting from manufacturing to the digital industry, and the turning point of 'unification of the korean peninsula' still remains.
However, jp still has one of the most stable economic models in the world. Let's suppose what it would have been like if the great recession, also known as the "Lost 30 years," had occurred in sk or any other country. It would have been “national collapse” rather than “lost 30 years.”
If sk truly wants to turn jp around, it should stop focusing on trivial indicators and focus on investing and nurturing talent in the digital industry. No realistic way other than turning the situation around through digital industries that have greater added value than manufacturing.

According to Wikipedia's population of the world's countries in the 16th century(1500), Japan (Ashikaga) was 9th, and Korea (Joseon) was 10th. Since the population of pre-modern societies is based on productivity, we can see that Korea's (Joseon) economic ranking at that time was not much different from now. After that, Korea (Joseon) was invaded by Japan and China in the 17th century and went down the path of decline, and in the 20th century, it fell to the world's poorest country through the tragic history of Japanese invasion and colonial rule, the Korean War, etc. However, it can be understood that it overcame this in the 21st century because the legacy of 500 years ago remained.

Not much they can do about energy, but I could see Seoul becoming a major international banking center. Also, the Korean people and their culture don't get enough credit.

In terms of the company's economic mentality, they were once in the top 10 in the world that threaten US hegemony. Korea has historically had a large number of knowledge-based personnel. During the Joseon Dynasty, people took the civil service examination to select bureaucrats. So people took the civil service examination from an early age by studying and teaching in each field. However, there were many restrictions because it was a Confucian culture. This historical knowledge tradition is still alive in modern society, which is one of the basic assets for Korea to grow rapidly.

The Sui Dynasty invaded Goguryeo and was destroyed, and Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty lost an eye in a war with Goguryeo and was defeated by Silla and driven out. First, Korea was destroyed by war at the time, but its per capita income was only a few hundred dollars lower than that of Japan, and the exchange rate collapsed. Even in the 19th century, when the Korean dynasty was falling, it was the world's 13th largest country in GDP. Second, the cause of the development of the Korean economy should not simply be seen at that time, but tradition and history should be seen. Lastly, no other country will be able to learn about Korea. This is because economic development and industry must be made in accordance with the times. It will be difficult for a country that has developed like Korea to come out because the times of globalization and rapid growth of the global economy have passed. The same is true even in Eastern Europe, a member of European civilization

If you want to understand how inferior Korea is, just look at Yi Sun-sin, who is hailed as the greatest hero in Korean history. In reality, during the Imjin War, the Korean army did nothing. The fact that Seoul fell in just three weeks, the crown prince was abducted by the Japanese within two months, and most cities, including Pyongyang, were handed over to Japan is utterly ridiculous. In any case, this war was essentially fought between Japan, led by the Emperor, and China, led by its own Emperor, on Korean territory, which served as a buffer zone. From beginning to end, Korea was merely at the mercy of its suzerain state, China.
The most interesting part is that only one daimyo died in the battle, and the only daimyo who was killed was a minor lord with a domain worth 14,000 koku. For reference, a daimyo is defined as a samurai who possesses a domain of over 10,000 koku. Oda Nobunaga had more than 7.5 million koku, Toyotomi Hideyoshi had 2.6 million, Tokugawa Ieyasu had 2.56 million, while others like Kato Kiyomasa had 500,000, Konishi Yukinaga had 150,000, and Kurushima had 14,000. One Kurushima equals the entire Korean army, including Yi Sun-sin🤣🤣🙈🙈ftukghj

Of course, there are many advantages and disadvantages due to rapid growth, but there are also many disadvantages. The suicide rate is high and the low birth rate is a serious problem. However, I love my country, and Korea is a country I want to be born again next time. Thank you for making such an informative video🕺☺️💓😇🎵

Koreans were able to become an advanced country by eliminating the inefficiency and corruption of the country because they achieved democracy and advanced or advanced it by their own efforts. Asian countries should also know that only by becoming democratized can they develop. Without democracy, there is no development. And education is important. Korea is required by law to use 20% of the government budget for education.

@@motherearth667 Pizza originates from Italy. Pasta originates from Italy. And Korea has never claimed anything like the China does. Koreans from the ancient 3 kingdom era migrated to Japan, and established a civilization in Japan. Present-day Japanese can be represented as a mixture of Koreans (91%) with a limited genetic heritage from a basal East Asian lineage related to Jomon. Korea and Japan share the most similar genetic heritage in the world, and the difference between the two nations is smaller than the towns in a European country. So it does makes sense that Korea was a strong nation before the 19th century. It was strong enough to not be absorbed by the Mongols and Chinese empires. But I heard China claimed even English to be theirs? lol. You like listening to CCP propaganda fake news where it says China is the best country in the world? You know, no one likes China, even the Chinese don't like China. Get over yourself.

But China claims Ghengis Khan to be Chinese? Covid originates from China. And cultural revolution and public defecation is a tradition in China. Assh$le foreign policies and history revisionism and human rights violations also belong to China. Bat eating, cat eating, and mice eating also originate from China. Japanese history only appears in East Asia after the Azuchi Momoyama Period in the 16th century.

There are also Chinese historical data that Japan was composed of many small countries (tribes) during that period.

S Koreans worked harder than Japanese. Under president Park Jung Hee came up with 5 year plans in multiple stages to develop its industry. US helped mostly during Korea War but aid quickly stopped after the war. Most US politicians didn't think S Korea would not able to recover from the war. Most aid for its industry came from Western European countries especially from UK and Germany thus even now S Koreans feel strong ties with them. Greece also helped S Korean ship manufacturing sector by placing first major ship orders trusting Hyundai will fill its obligation. S Korea doesn't recognize Macedonia and only recognize North Macedonia to align with Greece.

Japan is a country that earns money by exporting materials, parts, and equipment. However, just as ASML from the Netherlands creates far more value than Samsung, Korea's semiconductor companies generate significantly higher added value than Japan’s companies that export them.
Recently, it has become evident that investments made by U.S. and Taiwanese companies in Japan's semiconductor industry have failed. The reason for this is that Japan lacks the necessary workforce to invest in semiconductor operations. There have been cases where U.S. AI companies have entered the Japanese market recently, and this was an attempt to dominate the market. The simple fact is that Japan lacks the workforce to lead its own AI development, so when companies from countries with AI capabilities enter, they can easily take over. Currently, there are only three countries globally that are capable of leading in AI: the U.S., China, and Korea.
Many people still think of Japan as a well-developed country, remembering its peak in the 1990s, but the reality is quite different. Japan, which had colonized Korea for 36 years, is now, in a way, an IT colony of Korea. They lack their own platforms. The most used messenger app by Japanese citizens is 'Line,' a company co-owned by a Korean company (50% IT company) and a Japanese company (50% - Not an IT company but just an investment company). Recently, there was a customer information leak incident, and the Japanese government pressured the Korean company to sell its shares, but later withdrew this demand. The reason for it was that Japan currently lacks the capable workforce to run such a company on its own.
Japan’s reality is much more dire than most people imagine. It is nearly at the level of a developing country. If we exclude GDP (due to Japan’s larger population-about 120 million compared to Korea’s 52 million), Korea has already surpassed Japan in every major economic indices. Just as Europe is an IT colony of the U.S., Japan has become an IT colony of Korea. The amount the Japanese pay for using foreign platforms in their daily lives is almost same with the amount they spend on importing oil for producing and exporting their products.
One of Japan's most critical problems today is that wages have not increased. For decades, wages have stagnated.
The two fundamental reasons for Japan’s current state are:
    1. Confidence without any proof - For decades, they have lived in self-complacency, believing they were the best.
    2. Closed society - They have been reluctant to go abroad (especially to the U.S.) to learn, and this is still true today. During my three-day stay in Osaka, the only English speaking Japanese I met wasn’t even from Osaka, but from Tokyo.
Korea has already surpassed Japan, and Japan will never be able to overtake Korea again. This is because the most critical industry worldwide now is IT, particularly artificial intelligence. Countries that cannot lead in AI will inevitably fall behind. To lead in AI, we need three things: the semiconductor industry, data, and highly skilled workforce to manage these. Japan currently lacks all three, making it unlikely that they will succeed in this area.
In the 1970s, Korea modeled its economic development after Japan's and successfully grew its economy. China then followed Korea's model and has now either caught up with or surpassed Korea in almost all industries. So Korea needs to step up its efforts.

One Kurushima equals the entire Korean army, including Yi Sun-sin🤣🤣🙈🙈fjkfyuj
