- Let me show you what software engineers actually do and what it’s like traveling the world while working remotely! Cape Town has been full of surprises so far, from animals ruling the roads to stunning beaches and wine tasting - this place has it all. Today I am working from my AirBnb in Sea Point and am tackling pull request reviews, coding features and learning new programming skills. Not without getting stuck of course ;) Watch til the end to see the most magical place to watch the sunset!

Hi Iris. Glad you see you posting again and still traveling the world. SA looks very beautiful where you are staying. Good luck and stay safe.
Hi there! Thanks for coming back to watch 😁☀️
Wow, this is so cool! It's amazing to see how technology allows us to work from anywhere. What's your favorite thing about working remotely in South Africa?
Hi Maria! Thanks for commenting, I’m glad you enjoyed the video ☺️ I’d say my favourite thing is the nice weather! Have you been there? If yes, what’s your favourite? ☀️

Hey girl ❤ Love the vlog ❤ i wanted to adk where do you find remote jobs as a software developer?
Long time no sea.. 😄 Awesome views
Hi there,
I'm also looking for this type of SE job can you make a video of roadmap for remote SE jobs .
You're video motivate me for keep looking for remote work i also wanted to travel the world while working
🙈 great video! Such a beautiful place! Hey I would really suggest using an external keyboard, using your hands in that angle can't be good for you 😛
Hi, thanks for your comment and also the recommendation! I actually have an external keyboard but most of the time I'm just too lazy to use it 😝😅🙈 Definitely need to use it more often!
🙈just realized with this video that I also need to travel and work outside of Europe or at least outside Germany, although I just moved to the Baltic Sea to work remotely from a place at seaside.
🙈 Another great video, Iris! ❤
aaaw thank you Vilde!! ☺️💕 means a lot
🐒 - It looks like a beautiful place!
Thank you for the inspiring video
thank you so much for commenting, it means a lot to me 🤗🤗
Prima! SA ist schön!.. What technologies do u mainly work on rn?
Wow that's awesome ❤.
I would like to ask how does one get such opportunities please ?
Hi there 🤗 check out my other videos, I created some informative Q&As where I explain how to find jobs like this!!
How cool is that!🙈
🙈 Amazing view!
What type of interview questions should we expect when applying for the remote jobs,🙉
Hi there - thanks for commenting! I'm planning to do a more in-dept video about the application process soon and will keep your question in mind! ☺️
🙈 Does it get difficult working in different time zones? Love you journey can’t wait for the next video!
Hi there! 😊 It takes a while to get used to because not everyone is available right away, but that's just how it is. Most of the time if I'm stuck I just reach out to someone in my team who is also in my time zone and since the developer team consists of 15 people there is always someone around.
I really enjoy working independently and having the option to travel, so for me it's not a big issue 😊 Hope that answers your question!
Do you work for an American company? How do you work abroad without your company knowing?
hi there :) yes, I work for a company in the US. They know that I’m traveling 😉 the whole company is fully remote which means everyone can work from wherever they want in the world 🏝️
@@iris-tabea do you pay american taxes and use like a American address for your mail with an American bank account? I'm asking cuz I want to do the same thing when I get my first web dev job
I found the answer on this channel lol.
Hi can you recommend a website where I can apply for software developer remote jobs I’m based in Johannesburg
Hi there 😊 I recently posted a video where I list all the websites that I used for my remote job search, you can check it out here:

Using a keyboard in that position must hurt after a while.
I like to switch it up every now and then and change my keyboard position because the laptop screen is higher this way, but yeah staying like this the whole day would definitely become uncomfortable after a while 😜 Traveling with all your gear definitely limits you a bit in this regard and I haven't found the perfect laptop stand yet...

Great video! I have a question. I just met some people from South Africa who mentioned there are a lot of power outages on a regular (almost daily) basis. How do you deal with that?
Hi there :) thanks for commenting! Yes, that is true, at the moment there are power outages multiple times per day which can be tough - I was lucky to stay in Airbnbs or Hotels with a generator so they weren’t affected as much. But for the times when we didn’t have one I had to check the outage times (there is a timetable online that shows which area is affected during which times) and then I made sure I had my laptop fully charged before so I had enough power to work. I often also worked from coffee shops that had internet during those times so I was able to attend my meetings. It definitely requires some planning. But I knew about the situation beforehand so it wasn’t a big surprise for me when I arrived. Hope this answers your question :)
Thanks for answering :)
heyy Iris are you a java developer?
Hi there! Yes, I am :)
Please, get back to making videos again. I study English with them :)
Aww thank you for letting me know, this is amazing! I have been super busy with work but new videos are coming soon 🥳 All the best for your language learning journey!!
@@iris-tabea thanks :)
