      They should just give prize moneys, yes Takahashi didn't want to have prize money but that was in the 90's, for a game that you need to expend so much in the game to compete with a meta deck they should expect an actual reward for their time they invested in this game

    • @erichindy8688
      @erichindy8688 10 месяцев назад

      @@kauanjos3199this 100% . People that invest all this money into their decks just to possibly win a switch. Those people can simply buy themselves a switch lol the prize support is horrendous. If pokemon can offer cash prizing so can yugioh but Komoney is just stingy and cheap.

    • @djjorge87
      @djjorge87 10 месяцев назад +2

      According to this genius, prizing doesn't matter, so why do you even care? It's all about the prestige and how much adderall you take OBVI

    1. Spend time & $$ to play solitaire 2.0 for an average of 3 turns... Win closet souvenirs...donated by other companies.
    2. Wait 2-3 months for Konami to *gradually* chip away at player's investment into the new Boogeyman archetype's power only for them to replace it with another 2-3 right after. Look at that, format rotation hidden in plain sight!!
    3. If a game is so turn 1-reliant and only a handful of new cards matter, it's no wonder new sets don't sell well. The game's pacing doesn't give the majority of cards *time* to do their thing. The cards may not actually be bad in a slower paced environment. There would also be more things to build besides combo decks as well. The game's rules are *extremely* outdated. They're still using the same starting life point total from 2002.
    4. How can a game be around for over 20 years and only have one fully company-sanctioned format? I would think something like a pure archetype format (they sell them in every set) would exist after all of this time, but no. It would be the perfect avenue for card design for newer, smaller and older archetypes.

    • @IYIosefu
      @IYIosefu 10 месяцев назад +5

      Man, point 3 in particolar is something that i've been saying for a long time.
      There's very little design space when you power creep the game so much that every deck desperately wants to turbo everything as soon as possibile. Konami was so careless and managing power creep that they've basically removed non searchable trap cards from the game.
      You have all these summoning mechanics that are different on paper, but become pretty much the same when they become so easy and consistent to spam on the field.

    I started playing Yugioh in 2016 and got to know players from the European master landscape. I always played casual Dark Magician and Blue Eyes and never really achieved anything with them. Last spring, I invested almost 70 euros in new support (we're talking about a handful of cards here, of course) and realized that no one in my circle of friends was playing anymore. Then we played Speed Duels for a while and finally I started playing Digimon. I don't have a community for it in Germany, but the casual decks are put together for a few Euros and are great fun. I built four solid Digimon decks for the price of my YuGiOh support cards... YuGiOh is just very unattractive and unnecessarily complicated. As much as I love the anime, I won't be investing any more money in new cards... not worth it for me.

    Just like the quite quitting in the business world i think of this phenomenon as a non-issue.
    we are talking about playing with inscribed pieces of cardboard in centralized places....
    Just like the business issue, a lot of the problems are so far up the chain that to tackle them we would have to make large changes to society itself.
    And if life in business isn't fun, then people aren't going to do business.
    Same with Yugioh, it is a leisure activity, please let it be fun for as many as possible (*it currently isn't)
    This doesn't refer to JUST yugioh.

    In rome people stopped playing advanced and just started playing edison, goat or even tengu lmao, and all of these scenes are hyper competitive and you don't have to spend a lot of money to get the best decks. Other players moved to one piece because as you said holding a 1500€ deck for locals is just not worth it. I think that time wizard is the future of yugioh and konami should really start supporting it more

    Playing for prestige isn't worth it imo. Spending all that money to compete only to get weak prize support, on top of Konami not having events for Europe...It makes more sense to be casual and start making those Friday night local events at this point (in all honesty).

I discovered domain format, sort of a yu gi oh commander, and I want to play in that cause I know I'll never be able to go compete with consistency since Brazil only has 2 events a year, the only card games that can manage to stay relevant at my store (in terms of people playing and buying stuff reguraly) are magic and FAB we are trying to make a bandai carrd game scene even if just a casual one

    I play MD and collect some TCG cards since a few years (never played in locals or competitive and don't plan to)....And lately, MD's meta its becoming so bad and boring that I literally started playing Solitaire in my spare time, and regarding TCG, prices are so fucking high with so few nice cards, that I'm seriously considering changing to Pokemon...So, I agree that there are some people silently leaving the ship, because that' exactly what I'm planning and of course, that' a serious problem if starts to multiply....and its COMPLETELY Konami's fault for being lazy/greedy/incompetent as fuck....But I'm sure people with more time in the game have seen worse in the past...and I suspect that no matter what konami decides to do (probably nothing at all..as usual), there will be still some people who will pay the 1000 dollars bill for the next snake eyes deck...

    • @bdc129

      Yugioh is actually not so different than solitaire if you play it without communicating, and even more terrible in MD because it is a BO1 format which develop some stun decks

      Unless you go to YCS events I can't see why you'd wanna or ever need to spend $1000+ on a deck to compete at locals. As long as you're having fun with whatever archetype that's competitive and can win games, that's what matters. I do get where you come from with the how expensive it gets, that's why I quit magic the gathering. And I'd highly recommend totally play yugioh and pokemon. Pokemon is crazy dirt cheap. Like you can buy 2 of the same level 2 or level 3 decks, and deck build like the yugioh structure decks and its crazy how competitive the deck is.

    It really is death by a thousand cuts. The game has been bleeding bad ever since it was released, but the players and the hype of the IP kept it going.
    Now? We are old, competition is getting fierce, konami is worse than ever. Are we really shocked that it's slowly going away?
    I felt like konami has been turning up the milking of player up a notch and let OTS stores die over time because they are slowly sunsetting the game... at least the TCG.

    I'm sure there was a way to ask for more events, without taking a massive dump on the rest of the events. Aside from being a TCG ran by a bad company, it's also a ruined by a terrible "community".

    • @solemnyugioh
      @solemnyugioh  10 месяцев назад +7

      I did not take a dump on any events.
      An overwhelming majority of competitive players agree regional tops aren’t premier tops.
      An overwhelming majority of competitive players understand the massive difference between a nats and a ycs top.
      These are just facts. They are being valued very differently because the difficulty of topping them is very different. The main issue is that events are branded by name only when player count can skew so much harder (some German or California or Texas regionals can be as large as certain YCSes), which is a “flaw” in how we value tops, but that is not something I chose. That’s a branding issue that could use fixing.
