I think hike likes is the perfect definition for these games. I’m a big cozy gamer but I am tiered of all the gardening sims, so I really hope we get more games like these.
Recently I made my wife play her first ever video game from start to finish with A Short Hike. She struggled a lot with learning controls as it's completely new to to her, but now she finished it 3 times and even looked online to read solutions to find things she missed! I want to make her play Gator Game game but the shift to 3D camera controls, the quests and inventory tabs and all those things make it a little hard for now. I can't wait that she experience more games
A Short Hike would be a great first game because there is no pressure or stress. Gator Game is similar so it would be a good place for her to learn 3D controls I guess
Untitled Goose Game might be a good option to play with her. Less wholesome, but a fun pair activity that involves intuitive puzzle solving and a locked camera perspective.
Short hike 1-4 hours long? Nahhh man, I feel like a proper mixed style first playthrough is like 5-8h at least. And the game got some updates and end-game content later like side islands, a motorboat to get to them, fishing, some new characters with new side quests etc - I've spent like 30 hours on one save in it, getting all the fishes, feathers,, items. And it's probably my favorite game to 100%. It's just so cozy and warm and fun.
Short hike were the best 3 hours spent, i played it through the pandemic and it helped to clear my mind, it's great game. Thanks for the video !
my best 14 hours

Yeah! Not all cozy games need to be stardew valley or animal crossing. This is a neat sub-genre

@@haruhirogrimgar6047 That's true! I wasn't considering it but excellent suggestion

Also, I don't know if many would agree, but I'd say Jusant also fits the hike-like genre.
A banger video, as always. A short hike and gator game have been on my radar for a while I think it's high time I checked those games out.
great video, never even heard of this genre but I love the name you coined for it
Thanks!
I full on weeped when finishing the gator game😅
I feel like "hike-along" would be a better name. Gets away from the clone connotation and appeals to the wholesome nature or the genre.
🔥🔥🔥 Video, when will the inevitable death stranding video come out?
When death stranding 2 comes out!
I love hike likes. I think they capture the best part of open world games and childish whimsy
Lil Gator Game seems good, but $20 feels like too much for such a short game
Steam Next Fests normally fix those price discrepencies.
I think these would be fun games to play with my girlfriend. I will be checking them out!
