    The analogy had me laughing my head off....
    I highly doubt Brian Cox would be a "less popular" lecturer.... lol

    Theory: If the Higgs is the fundamental particle responsible for mass, then it seems to me that each particle must have a set descriptions or something like DNA describing what it is. For Example, when the Higgs talks to the photon the photon says I am a photon so excert this much force on me, and the heavier particles say exert much more force. If the Higgs turns up to be legitimate, it will be interesting to see what mechanism allows this particle to know what particle is which. Magnetism?

    my favorite line is toward the end: "but if a less popular lecturer *snicker* walks across the grass... then everyone ignohz me"

    time exists. Just as "luck" exists if people believe in it. Its an abstract umbrella term for measuring duration, and sequencing events
    and its spelt aether. The greeks coined it - it means "upper sky". Luminiferous aether was used to describe the medium in which light can propogate and travel. It was disproven when the idea of a universal frame of reference came to be.
    and use the space bar man.

    Theory: If the ATLAS or CMS Detectors were saturated within with the anti-matter particles of the known particles that are formed when a collision between proton beams occurs, then I am wondering if that it would make it impossible to miss the Higgs because it is the only particle there that nobody knows what it's anti-matter twin looks like which would not be present in the detector.

    @comradek2021 what you mean ? :P
    i think he was given a "OK" before he touched that detector. and he works at Atlas at CERN. so i think he knows what hes doing : P

    Is the Higgs particle responsible for it own mass as well? Seems paradoxical.

    awesome what about element 115 they don't talk about that i'm pretty sure im not the only 6 year old that knows about this ? why do they do these experiments if theres a catastrophic side to it i still have a lot to learn about particles my freinds think im a geek . my science teacher acts amazed whenever i know everything she talks about i feel that my classes are way to easy my brother is teaching me some kind of math thingy called calculus . im sorry my punctuation was not proper

    the real higgs has mass cus it interacts with virtual higgs ..
    we are tryng to create a real higgs ...since virtual higgs exist everywhere ..but they are virtual ..meaning they exist for a limited amount of time , they are created from borrowed energy and must dissapear ..
    when ur pumping energy into a collision , u just might create a real higgs ..wich is heavy.

    i really want to know how anything that exists came to be existing im on some acid so im probably not making scence its kinda scary to think how would aanything be if nothing existed at all everything probably happens for a good reason oh and i was on that shit a long long time ago my llittle cousin likes to comment on here

    A lot of energy to create a lot of mass? A better way to have said it is "It takes a lot of energy to create a little bit of mass".

    If the Higgs is found, I think those physicists all over the world and will have it hung out to dry in no time. It's almost like a very very expensive witch hunt. Does it exist or doesn't it?

    Yes, physics is patriarchal, take a look at a biology lecture and its 90% female. Both cost heaps in research, both have saved millions of lives and helped people in every day life. Not pursuing science is one of the more ingorant things ive heard in a long time.
