I moved from the UK to the US to play in college and I had a teammate who would do exactly what Ben described at 22:00. Go proper mad for it during the summer, get bulked up and lose a lot of natural agility and balance. It would fall off as the season wore on and he would just get better and better as he got closer a more normal size for him.
Keep going Ben. It’s people like you that have empathy for fans that keep football going and take the talk away from high salaries, transfer fees and all the other negative stuff.
Just on football manager during this and when I heard the Sczesny story I looked up his injury history haha. Sure enough he’s down for “2x broken lower arm” on the 10/10/2008 haha. Top show
Interesting to hear talking about match bonuses, I built the spreadsheet at West Brom back when you where there that calculated everyone’s goal, win, clean sheet and appearance fees based on what minute the player entered the game. Don’t worry though, each players specific fees weren’t shared with me 🙂
Juan Ugarte 2004/05 season at Wrexham 30 games 16 goals unfortunately we were relegated to League 2. But that night when Fozzy placed himself in Wrexham folklore forever at the Millennium Stadium. That day thanks to Fozzy's heroics will live with me forever, up to now my best moment/memory being a Wrexham fan. I will never forget Ben's performance that day. MASSIVE THANK YOU BEN
American viewer here! Love the vodcasts here on RUclips! Wish I could have come to Phili to see you all and hope you make it out here more often. The life of a footballer is so interesting, can't wait for part 2!!
On the canteen topic, I worked at the base camp for the England Women's team throughout the Euros last summer, and honestly the food they served was absolutely world class, so I can assure you that Ben isn't lying about that. The chefs were very demanding and specific about what the players could and could not eat, they didn't have an assigned nutritionist so the two chefs would take turns instead to serve the players. The main difference was that it was laid out as a buffet so the players could take as much as they wanted. There was a hot food station, a salad/sushi bar, a dessert station (basically just sorbet or fruit salad as options), a 'live' station which was just omelettes for breakfast or pasta for lunch with a variety of sauces and toppings if the players and staff wanted that instead of the regular hot food. Most of them just had one big plate but Lucy Bronze would take two or three. Never seen someone eat quite as much as her except for some of the rugby players we've had come in from NZ/England/Australia men's teams etc. The best part was always being able to take leftovers from the hot food station after service. I probably gained 4-5kg during the month we had them there haha. Worth it though.
loving this kind of talk. The power that some of these top-level athletes can produce is insane and would likely be national/world level at a chosen sport as they have the mindset to apply themselves. But, the table tennis table, that is brilliant
This was a bangin episode, there are so many things the general public doesn't have a clue about that are going on in a football club. Buzzin for part two!
Is always an interesting fun pod, but loved this one. All the weird things you'd never think of like being watched with your plates of food etc. Regarding the bed pressure number section, what would Roy Keane have said I wonder to some bed specialist haha. Bloke probably would have given him a look that would kill a crow
Love the show. Id like to hear your 'magic moments' England team 11....vs the world. Goalies: Gordon Banks Pele save.. Vs Oscarine Masuluke bicycle kick and greatest ever celebration LeftBack: Steward Pierce penalty vs Roberto Carlos freekick
Can you please dig more into the bonus structure, fine structure, what if you come on in the last 10 mins and win the game for the team? Still run after? What sort of crazy bonuses has Ben heard? Largest? Craziest? Would be show us a payslip from back in the day? Biggest fines? This would be sooo good to hear. Always wondered.
I have a feeling that there's hundreads of things more that are obscure to us regular people that professionals like Ben just find normal. I want to hear everything hahaha
Great stuff really enjoyed. What actually happens when you train. Are there days when you work on team shape, set pieces, skills practice, tactics for games … would be really interested to know this.
I just demolished a pack of Cadbury nibbles a pizza and a garlic bread, some days I'll eat way more and I've weighed 64kg for the last 2 years, eating shite don't work and I haven't got the effort to try and gain weight properly.
Loved this episode. Definitely need a 2nd. Also really want to know what the in joke was between Tom and Ben with the Chelsea Watford hospitality story.
I wold love to see big Jonas Olsson on the Fozcast. He was my favourite player growing up. He was a rock in my hometown team Landskrona Bois before he went abroad.
hi mate you spoke about ur cruciate injury, this is common in football and a lot of lads dont have access to the kind of rehab you might of. do you think you could do a video about how you came back etc.. for people suffering with same thing
FoZ can you do a bit more on boots. As you get a new colourway every few weeks are you getting it Tailored, different stud pattern, getting it stretched out before?
Awesome episode. I could listen to Ben talk about the inner workings of being a pro footballer and training all day.

Same here playing FM whilst watching this 😅😅
Knew guys like Ben in the Army. Always the guys who came in to work with a smile and held the group together.
We all saw how well you were treated at Watford with that luxury hotel for home games and incredible food selection

Quality as always, Fozzy! Top man. Big up from the USA. Up the Fozcast!!
Love learning BTS of being a footballer hearing what happens
Ben Foster has currently played the most minutes in the Premier League
Yeah. De Gea is gonna break that record, he just needs another 100 minutes to do it.
Ben does hold a few interesting premier league stats though

Just 2 things, Bielsa is from Argentina, not Italy.
