  • Adverbs can add depth and precision when you express your opinion in English. For example, consider these two sentences.
    1. The restaurant will be closed on Thursday for a private event.
    2. Apparently, the restaurant will be closed on Thursday for a private event.
In the second sentence, one word was added. The English adverb apparently.
    Do we really need it?
That depends on what you want to say. Do you want to add nuance when stating your opinion in English? Or do you want to highlight your feelings about the topic? Do you want to indicate judgment in your opinion?
The first sentence simply states a fact.
The second sentence clarifies this information is based on what you know at the time. And it's possible the information has changed.
There is increased nuance and precision in the second statement.
In this Confident English lesson, you'll learn 19 comment adverbs to express your opinion in English clearly. And you'll build your vocabulary.
    This includes adverbs such as:
    - apparently
    - frankly
    - obviously
    - presumably
    - generally
    - naturally
    And more.
Comment adverbs elevate your speech by adding nuance and emotion. Moreover, they highlight your attitude or feelings towards something, which allows you to more clearly express your opinion in English.
They can be used for polite, diplomatic communication. And finally, they indicate cultural fluency.
Finally, you'll also learn how to use adverbs in English grammar and where to place them in the sentence.

What a wonderful explanation of the importance of adverbs. Without them, our communication would be slightly disengaging and robotic.

Hi, I am from India. I am ielts aspirant. I wrote my exam once and have got L8R7S6W6 overall7. But I need individual 7. How can I improve my speaking and writing score?

    • @Speakconfidentenglish
      @Speakconfidentenglish  7 месяцев назад

Thanks for the question. As with any skill and any exam, improving comes down to quality, consistent practice. I recommend an appropriate IELTS book (one published by a reputable company) and studying with the help of a teacher if you can so you know which areas require improvement and how to do so.
