I test drove the 2023 petrol and diesel and the V6 was the pick for me, the cost of diesel and the lack of power made me go to the petrol. I'm sitting on around 8.5 per 100 with slightly more highway driving. The one thing I really don't like is the torque steer you get when overtaking.
In love with the silver highlander trim. Would last me over a decade to get my kids through high school! The pilot seats in the middle. The large space for hubby, he loves ventilated seats I live heated seats. All round winner and the moon roof when I want to sun on my face
I've bought the 8 seat highlander diesel. Hyundai tells me 5 months wait time. If you're not fussed with seating configuration or colour (green or red) you should be able to get one immediately.
We have a 7 seat Highlander on order (White w/ Khaki interior). I really hope Hyundai have sorted out the sign recognition software, the noises irritate a lot of people on the Palisade groups on FB. If we all scream loud enough, hopefully Hyundai will modify the way it works.
I just got one last week the highlander, and highly recommended the top range 👌🏾 👍, to enjoy it in full with others features. Is the best car ever, seriously made for family 👪 and affordable compare to others luxury car, seriously the Hyundai company has really nailed all the others with incredible luxury
Was considering palisade or the cx9 for the new car upgrade early this year. However wasnt entirely sure on the egr & dpf on modern diesel, especially when 95% driving on short trips. Lots of horror stories due to diesel engines not being used on optimum temperature most of the time. Therefore got the cx9 instead.
Very interesting as I was contemplating the same too, alongside the Toyota Kluger. But in the end I ordered the Palisade Highlander a month ago. I just didn't like the set up of the CX9 Azami, particularly the third row. Very squishy compared to the Palisade. Also unsure if the third row in the Azami has air bags, air con and USB ports like the Palisade too? Good thoughts about the DPF. I've heard mechanics tell me there will be no problems as I typically go on a 45min to 60 min drive on the hwy once a month or second month. I asked Hyundai how much it would cost to change the DPF and they say under $1k? But who knows until you actually change it. My bigger concern is government policy around diesel. Should states start to restrict sales of new cars with diesel, I wonder how that will affect resale in 10 years time? Loved the Kluger, but although it looks big, was too small for our family. My 10 year old son could only just fit in the third row. And the entertainment unit is absolutely terrible. I think the new bigger Kluger that is coming in approx. 2 years will resolve issues. But we need a car now.
Well there is one more here. We finally ordered the Highlander 2.2 (Emerald/Khaki) Diesel after comparing with an Azami. CX9 felt too small after we tried the Palisade. Waiting for it to arrive in Feb23.
@@johnjones5784 Electric Car won’t compare to diesel car. Diesel is really important to Australia economy. I don’t see any problems for resale value of diesel car. I predict the resale value of diesel car will be going up after 2035 due to shortage supply and new car ban. Oz is doing a lot of towing, off road. Electric car is behind to replace diesel car.
I’ve test driven one the other day with 2 adults on board. It’s got decent power at lower speeds, once it is over 60km/h, you can tell immediately it struggles for power. A good car around town but not a good fit for freeway driving.
Looked at Palisade, CX9 and Kluger. Kluger is overpriced and missing some basic features of the other vehicles. CX9 is a better car but now old technology, even though it still does 100% of what Kluger does. The Palisade is just more spacious, better to drive with far superior infotainment, seat comfort and more safety. Palisade for the win and diesel all the way for smooth power and economy with all wheel drive standard
Agree. The mazda to me feels more claustrophobic and has less space inside, and build quality isnt that great either. We love our highlander palisade. Heaps of space and the diesel is great too. To me its a much better family car.
This would almost certainly be my next family car but I think the speed sign recognition beeping alone will take it off my list. Please fix this Hyundai!

The Palisade looked a bit weird before. It looks quite handsome now, great redesign.

Does the 3rd row slide forward?
Great review

Excellent review
Thanks Navi
Which suburb is that u shooting from? Looks good
Near Penrith
Haven't driven one but it looks a very impressive vehicle. With a few adults in the car, I would question whether the 2.2 litre has enough power.

We Are Going To Buy The Highlander 8-Seater Diesel Once We Get $80k
Wind noise is terrible, my 1980's gemini had better cabin noise.
Not going to make it if can't tow reasonable weight say over 3 ton
