    The #HyundaiPalisade has been a HUGE hit for #Hyundai ever since it came out in 2019. In 2023, the #PalisadeCalligraphy is still the top-of-the-line model, but the #Palisade has been upgraded inside and out. It gets a more truck-like design on the outside and more luxury on the inside. Sadly, those of you looking for an electrified option will have to look elsewhere for now.

    The Palisade has always been the best designed SUV in the mid sized market in my opinion. Many like the Telluride better but this Palisade just looks so dang good. The GV80 is another example of Genesis’s effort to bring desirable vehicles to the market. What’s lacking in the industry is a full size sedan. I think they made a mistake in completely eliminating this from the market place. From Ford’s decision to eliminate the Taurus and Chevy’s Impala it created a hole in the market. I would like a full size sedan for its comfort. There are some full size sedans available but the price is not affordable to the average American. I’ve seen the design of vehicles change over the last 60 years, my first new car was a 1970 Dodge Charger. My very fist car was a 1965 Chevelle convertible. Had all kinds of trouble trading our 2019 Palisade Limited in. Had to leave the first dealership because the money they offered for the trade was just put on the back end of the price. They had a mark up of over 7k. The other dealership got us as well but it was a 1500 dollar markup. Its ridiculous what these dealerships are doing, especially used dealerships. But hey if people keep buying why should they offer a legit price. I know I payed slightly over MSRP, but what I got back in trade made up for that, and still didn't want to do the deal.

    For those of you skeptical about Hyundai offering so much for such a small relative price, (like wondering where they could’ve cheapened out) here are a couple of reasons why:
    One of the reasons Hyundai’s tend to be cheaper than the competition is that they’re able to in-source their steel from South Korea as opposed to other manufacturers who typically import it. This allows them to save money on tariffs and other related costs, and pass those savings to consumers.
    Another reason is because this is Hyundai’s first entrance into the 3-row midsize SUV segment in America. They want to capture as much of the market as they can, largely in part by offering a low price.
    They did the same strategy with the 1st gen Hyundai Equus, which topped out at ~$65k. Now if you want to get a new Equus (now called the Genesis G90), the cheapest one goes for mid $70k.
    Basically, take advantage of the low price of the Palisade now that you can, because Hyundai is likely to raise the price considerably for the 2nd generation once they feel they’d captured a desirable portion of the market by that point.

      4. Use complete garbage suspension and components, trash engine, and electronics that will most certainly die.
      They make these cars like disposable cameras. Enough to survive the lease.

    • @victreebel170
      @victreebel170 Год назад +1

      I don't disagree that they're cheaper than the competition, but your Equus comparison is wrong. The Equus started at $58k in 2011. Inflation in the past 11 years equates to $75k in 2022 dollars. So the Equus was not a comparative deal.

    • @user-qg2tl3jk9z
      @user-qg2tl3jk9z Год назад +2

      @@victreebel170 I just remember that in 2014, you could get an Equus fully loaded for around $65k. Adjusted for inflation in 2022, that’s around $81k (according to an online calculator at least). And I actually just checked Genesis website, the G90 now starts at $88k and only gets pricier from there. So my point still stands, although good call.

    • @chiemekaa
      @chiemekaa Год назад +1

      @@user-qg2tl3jk9z
      You have a point there, but nowadays even $88k is relatively 'affordable'. Consider that a fully loaded F-150 Lightning (not an apples-to-apples comparison) will set you back $90k at least. As far as luxury competitors go, the next 'cheapest' is the Lexus LS500 which starts at $77k before any options that'll bring it up to a comparably equipped G90. The Luxury Package on that is $11k, and if you think that pricey, you can try the Executive Package for $27k. The G90 already has most of those features standard and still stays under $100k with everything checked. I won't even mention any of the European Big 3.

    • @theholt2ic219
      @theholt2ic219 Год назад

      That’s kinda of how I look at it. They are trying to under cut the competition and getting customers by selling them at prices that more realistic. Other auto makers are selling their SUVs for like 60k-80k because they can. Once Hyundai has a foot hold then it will increase prices no doubt. To me all it shows is that other auto makers could still sell there vehicles at 45k-55k and still be fine. The quality of components needs to be seen because if they sell a piece of crap they will only ruin what they are trying to accomplish.

    My ONLY disappointment with Hyundai here is that we had a 2019 Palisade Limited, which is basically the same as the current Calligraphy. So when we recently upgraded to the 2023 we looked at the Limited and would have been taking a step backwards. Also we paid 45k and now by having to step up to the Calligraphy in order to match our out going Palisade Limited, it cost us around 7k more. Pretty big jump Hyundai in just 3 years. I will say that Hyundai kind of made up for it with our trade. We did receive back around 5k more than what we owed so was happy about that. I brought this over to my cousin who has a 2019 Escalde he paid almost 80k for. We went over all the options, the interior, I took him out and showed him how GREAT the highway driving assist is on this Palisade. I said now you know that Cadillac RIPPED you off Cuz. I'm not rubbing it in, but I told you when I drove your Escalde that you could of done better and saved a ton of money

    It’s an attractive package no doubt but it does have necessary changes needed. The massive grille needs to be reduced significantly, the low mounted headlights dazzle oncoming drivers and need to be raised to the top of the grille area, the power needs to be increased either by using the 2.5t engine at a minimum.

    The smart tailgate doesn’t have the foot-kick activation, you just stand there for a few seconds and it opens automatically. Also, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto aren’t useable with the navigation system because the Smart Cruise Control and Highway Drive Assist is navigation-based. CarPlay/AA override the built-in system so those safety features won’t work properly. USB-C ports, not USB-A other than the port for CarPlay/AA.

    I just bought one 2 weeks ago. Yes, it has a LOT of tech features but the materials that are used to make the vehicle are less than quality grade. Hyundai definitely sacrificed quality for quantity. For example, 1) all the lining on the doors is very thin and scratches easily, 2) there are two sets of weather stripping on the doors but water still gets in during a wash, 3) The window glass on the doors is extremely thin and you can even push the glass in on the passenger windows from the outside. 4) the suede headlining is a nice touch, but it a very low-grade material and it scuffs and mars very easily. It also cannot be cleaned like traditional suede; using any kind of brush will mar the surface and ruin the material. 5) The outside trim around the windows has a very thin paint covering and will scratch with just your fingernail. 6) the material covering the steering wheel is extremely thin and glued on and will get scratched easily. 7) The interior accent lighting, though a cool feature, is not bright enough to really be an accent. 8) there is no sunglass holder in the overhead console. 9) The seams in the body panels are not equal and can vary as much as an 1/8th of an inch. 10) The plastic panels that line the cargo area scratch very easily so be careful loading and hauling things in the back. If you have young children, I would not recommend this vehicle. They will tear it up!

    • @iggibars
      @iggibars Год назад

      Who told you the headliner was suede? LOL. It's microfiber at best. There's no way you could confuse the too if you've actually had a suede headliner. Even Hyundai tells you everywhere in the info and spec sheet that it's cloth, melange, or microfiber if you have the calligraphy trim. There's NO mention of suede ANYWHERE. And leather is leather. It's going to scratch easy, especially since there's nappa leather being used on the seats and soft leather on the doors. GM/Ford is a better choice if you want tough plastic surfaces.
