I mean tbf no one does anyways Toshiki Inoue wrote this show with heaven's mandate to be as incomprehensible as possible and everyday we praise him for it
Another reference in Jetman Hitotsuki is that the girl who transforms is a woman in a love triangle, just like the red, white and black of Jetman, even the triangle is inverted where the white girl (the girl is dressed in white) is in love of the black ranger, Tsubasa, contrary to jetman where the black ranger is in love of the white ranger
Another funfact about the Jetman Episode: In this episode we see natsumi get sucked into a hole with tsubasa streching his arm to her, just like in Jetman's First Episode where Rie gets sucked into a hole and turned into a villain...just like natsumi becoming a Jūto....
24:00 notably this episode focuses on Jiro, the red and gold ranger themed after a chinese dragon and is also the debut for his alternate form, DonTorabolt, who is a silver tiger y'know, kinda like the ones from Dairanger (Ryuuranger/Kibaranger respectively) oh and 33:53 Minato returning as Mahouki is also very likely a reference to the fact that MagiYellow cameos in Ninninger, the show his prior Hitotsuki form was based on
- another thing about Tokumeiki, the old man having a child avatar could be a reference to buster gold who's body is stuck on a satellite, much like how the hitosuki was in the hospital, as well as both using an avatar to fight. - Also on the Ice age hitosuki could be a reference to abaranger's movie.
Mashinki being an artist can be a reference to Juuru Atsuta (Kiramai Red) being one as well. Gokaiki being a mangaka may also be a reference to Zox's passion for manga, as they are both Gokaiger homages. Gekisouki being obsessed with traffic safety is referencing the Carrangers' and (especially) Signalman's passion for it. Also the spinning is a reference to the Carrangers' roll-call.
Engineki's resemblance to the Go-Roader GT is all in the shoulders, the wheel shoulder pads are meant to resemble the Go-Roader in its wheel mode, particularly with the rims having the 3 black bars and 1 red bar surrounding the light blue circle
Another Fact in the Gekiranger Episode: Tsubasa stuck as a dog roaming the streets is prolly a reference to how in Gekiranger Gou Fukami(Gekiviolet) was stuck in his wereWOLF form roaming the streets
So the Ice themed Hitosuki is probably based on the Abaranger Movie mecha, which was where the Villain Mecha was Ice Age themed to where they were turning the city into a new Ice age.
This show is essentially the embodiment of References like Zi-O is... but it has a slightly more flushed out original storyline than it's Rider counterpart.
Another layer to the Kaizoku Hitotsuki. The episode it appears in is about Haruka (no longer a Donbrother) meeting and interacting with the character who inherited her powers. Not unlike a Gokaiger tribute episode.
Kishiryuki’s design was more focused on the Knight theme from Ryusoulger since their are many Sentai shows with Dinosaur themes. Notice how the next Hitotsuki based off of dinosaur sentais didn’t have full-out dinosaur motifs until Bakuryuuki since he was the last Hitotsuki to use a dinosaur Sentai motif. Also, there was a heart-shaped cavity added to the chest to imply he had no soul, referring to how Ryusoulger used “soul” in the show. Also, Gekisouki was designed to be more heroic-looking.
Ok so I’m not sure if anyone else noticed this- because it wasn’t called out but Dobutsuki has another tie to Zyuohger as she shares a similar goal of Caring for everyone as do the Zyuohgers sense their primary goal is to make sure everyone is safe- And Yamato specifically having the goal to protect all creatures.
Further observations and paralels on the episodes from the seasons I've watched, sorry this is so long, when I started typing I didn't realise I'd ramble for so long: Picking Onigiri as the food for the Ohranger episode might be a reference to the shapes. Kind of a stretch, but onigiri are rice triangles with a round filling and wrapped in square nori, served in pairs. Where does the star go? Who knows. Also "Rolling Onigiri" might be in reference to either Tackle Boy or more likely, Giant Roller, their big wheel attack... thing. In the Kirameiger episode, it's an easy comparison that the villain was an artist and Kiramei Red was an artist too. In the Ninninger episode, the motivation of the main character is somewhat parodying Ninninger's reception. Ninninger is about ninjas that refuse to be ninja-like, and the series is being represented by a man that is seen as a failure for not being traditionally succesful and very juvenile. In the Kyuranger episode, the face of the Hitotsuki also resembles Don Armage's (the season's main villain) face a bit. Kind of octopus-like with a bulbous back of the head. Also, not that other seasons didn't have idol episodes either, but that show had Hoshi Minato (Magi Yellow, Beet Buster) return as an idol character that helped in the brainwashing and later revolt of the entire population of the universe as a serious plot beat. In the Kyoryuger episode, despite all Sentai being sold as "units" or teams of friends, Kyoryuger is all about friendship, one of the taglines of the show was "because we are a team" after all, and the early parts of the series are all about King more or less gaining the trust of people and befriending them. Very thematic. In the Carranger episode, hey, is Kijino acting really dumb? Carranger is an entire parody season. In the Jetman episode. Jetman is notoriously the most dramatic series meant to be written like a soap opera, so it had like 3 different love triangles. Regarding Don Murasame, I am not entirely positive, but I think his whole deal is meant to be a homage to Extra Heroes that are "blank slates", "created for a purpose" or "brainwashed to a fault" so to speak? Kinda like Hakaizer was in Zenkaiger. Almost every season had one. In the Shinkenger episode, the villain of the week may also kinda be inspired by Juuzo, the most memorable villain of the season, very skelletony, very intrigued by the reason why other people fight since he only gets joy out of killing. In the Megaranger episode, this one might also be a stretch, the season is all about youth and being full of dreams and things to do, and MegaBlue wanted to grow up to be a video-game designer. I think it is rather interesting that the villain of the week is a twisted man that is bothered by having nothing to do and no interesting stories to hear. Bro could literally buy a Playstation. In the Gekiranger episode, I tried looking it up to see if I wasn't remembering it wrong but couldn't find anything about it, but what I remember from back when watching it, is that all the masters weren't born animal people, they became such masters of their animal styles that they became giant furry animal people. So I guess Tsubasa being stuck as an actual dog could be a reference to that. In the Magiranger episode, so, fun fact, in Ninninger it is stated that AoNinja learned magic from MagiYellow. So the Ninninger Hitotsuki being the same as the Magiranger Hitotsuki has an actual connection that makes sense. In the Abaranger episode, the face of the Hitotsuki might be a reference to Mesogog, the villain of the Power Ranger adaptation of Abaranger. Dino Thunder notoriously has the episode that acknowledges Sentai's existance. The thing about spicy food might be about curry, but not specifically Abaranger. Curry is a recurring "favorite food" of characters, to the point where it was a trope for a while that the yellow ranger would always go bananas for curry. If I'm not wrong it dates back all the way to Gorenger, but it was revisited often. Curry Safari and Dino Curry being only two of the examples. In the Goseiger episode, the head of the Hitotsuki references not only the Tensouder, but also Master Head, who is just that, a giant stone head... also their mentor. In the Boukenger episode, "the adventuring spirit never ends" "search for what is precious", so the guy that doesn't give up on finding something special before settling down. Boukenger was another season where each episode had a reference to previous seasons (most monsters based on mecha from other seasons), so I think it is kinda fitting that the recurring character also gets an anniversary season. DonKiller being an Android might be a reference to how in JAKQ they're all Cyborgs? In the Timeranger episode, Timeranger notoriously has an episode where TimeBlue, who's a racer, has to get a driving license in the past. In the Gaoranger episode, so, in Gaoranger the enemy are Ogre based on Oni. In Momotaro the enemy are Oni. I think it is thematic that we see the home of the Juto in the Gaoranger episode. Might be a stretch though. In the mini Abaranger promo special: So, in Abaranger, the 3 main characters names are all puns on geological ages (Cretaceous, Triassic, Jurassic). That's why the monster is named Ice Age. I didn't comment in other seasons I've watched but didn't have anything to add, but I have absolutely no idea about the Dekaranger and Gingaman episodes despite having watched both, they're just that weird I guess.
it was strange that The gimmick of changing to past Rangers with kind of forgetful and wasted opportunity focused about the comedy and story but since you explain everything it makes sense
It is crazier that you can probably go deeper and possibly point out that some episodes are direct references to plot points of certain shows. Like the Kyoryuger episode where Taro "dies" for the first time. Could be a reference to when Torin was defeated and turned into stone. It also could be a reference to the episode where KyoryuRed finds his first weakness and cannot win in battle and for Momoi his weakness was finally revealed and was defeated in battle because of that.
About the abarenki It might be reference to BakurenOh appears the abaranger movie and in the series which have power of ice And you could see the icicle hand of the abarenki look kinda a drill
13:40 My main man Minoru really was the MotW MVP. 16:51 they also play part of the samba sound once when she's transformed. I know this because I had to go back and check. 40:35 I think that the angel demon showing up in the same episode the black condor theme was playing, as well as the demon using the same chestpiece as the jetman demon, was also intentional 51:38 I'm pretty sure its a spade on the head, because the chestpiece looks like a heart, and it'd make sense for the heart to be on the chest piece. 1:05:05 To be fair, King Ohger wasn't out yet so the bug combo theming wasn't likely locked in as that sentai yet. And an anniversary season having a MotW based on the UPCOMING season after the cameo already happened is pretty unexpected. 1:07:03 To be fair, he thought his mom's dying wish was for him to see his dream through. When it happened i had to stop because HOLY FUCK, I didn't think the goofy ninja guy would become crazy strong the moment he got some of that Inoue-brand character building.
me from the future here and I just realized that Donbros got a crossover with kamen rider once, but Donbros would better get a crossover with Akibarangers because then the Fujoshi mangaka can hang out with the oni mangaka and get a secondhand dose of the BL action in Donbros. Also with both Akiba and Donbros' Reds being oddball delivery guys, and their respective yellows being mangaka who create BL (onisister made a donbros manga, so it counts), then I'm not surprised that the car from episode 40 appears to be the same one that had the aoi-tan stickers on it in Akibarangers. I've got a crackpot theory that they're connected...I just need more crack to prove it.
Something to add about the Zyuohger reference The woman who becomes Doubutsuki being a doctor is likely a reference to Yamato/Zyuoh Eagle’s father being a doctor as well
good video and all but, and i dont mean to sound mean, i was a little bit disappointed watching this video as in many of your dissection of the episodes with regards to what references do they have to past sentai. I was expecting you to go beyond the scope of just the monster having aesthetics that references the past sentai and their names being a reference too... as I think most of the audience in general already picked that up so there's not much point in constantly bringing those points up. I myself am aware of the small references and easter eggs with regards to the plot references and details to specific episodes of the past sentai seasons and was disappointed that you did not mention many of them since I thought there's finally a youtuber talking about these things and letting everyone know the deeper past sentai references in donbros instead of just the surface level stuff. But I do see your passion for donbrothers in this video and that alone already make me plenty happy. Thanks for your effort and please continue to make more donbros related content. Thanks
something i noticed in the J.A.K.Q episode is that the donkiller and donkiller killer are robots probably referencing how in there show they were cyborgs not only having a card themed threat but also a robot threat
You should do the Lupin collection because it's very unique with the collection and a big reference to super Sentai in general. Or Bokuenger and their villains and monsters being based on the robos
Fun Fact, for the gekiranger episode, when JukenKi becomes giant, its supposed to be a reference to Gekitouja's(Gekiranger's mecha) bat armament Also, the Abranger crossover episode, not only its a promotional episode for Abaranger's anniversary, the hitotski(or what else) is ice themed, as a reference to Abaranger's first film, Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger Deluxe: Abare Summer Is Freezing Cold, where the abarangers are dealing with evil Bakuryuu, Bakuryuu CarnoRyutus and Bakuryuu ChasmoShieldon, who were gonna start a new ice age
At first, I thought Don Doragoku and Don Murasame interrupting the battle in Don 27 was annoying enough, but a Hitotsuki, the rest of the DonBrothers, some Beastials, and Sonoza and Sononi entering battle was chaos!
I love that Donbrothers showed a progressive bond with that bond being the team themselves growing and it’s a great show to to watch with you companions as I did with friends I barely knew them but from watching this show with them and I made a bond that will be forever fun fact: I was shocked when I saw them in my class yeah for some reason and I was happy so yeah so it all was a Don to a happy end I love this show
i dont know how you dont mention this but the hitotsuki literally has the logo of the sentai before they transform, and i think in dekaranger eps the monster itself is the deka changer with his head as the logo and the shoulder is the button
Honestly, Kijino’s spiral first started when he let the Machine Demon guy get killed. Seriously, dude straight up redirected Taro’s finisher and let Sonoi have the kill. And then he said he’d do it again if he needed to when the credits started to roll
Wait... isn't the word "Choujin" means "Super Human" ?!? If I remember it right "Choujin" doesn't translate to "Bird" "Choujin Sentai Jetman" means "Superman Squad Jetman" tho
I mean tbf no one does anyways
Toshiki Inoue wrote this show with heaven's mandate to be as incomprehensible as possible and everyday we praise him for it
So true haha
This whole show was incomprehensible as possible and still a story of those chosen to fight
Not me
Title: You don't understand DONBROTHERS
Me: Zeo does
Another reference in Jetman Hitotsuki is that the girl who transforms is a woman in a love triangle, just like the red, white and black of Jetman, even the triangle is inverted where the white girl (the girl is dressed in white) is in love of the black ranger, Tsubasa, contrary to jetman where the black ranger is in love of the white ranger
And more specially both series are written by same person
Yeees! More premium sentai content, thank you o' mighty algorithm
This show is one giant reference to the past.
Another funfact about the Jetman Episode: In this episode we see natsumi get sucked into a hole with tsubasa streching his arm to her, just like in Jetman's First Episode where Rie gets sucked into a hole and turned into a villain...just like natsumi becoming a Jūto....

y'know, kinda like the ones from Dairanger (Ryuuranger/Kibaranger respectively)
oh and 33:53
Minato returning as Mahouki is also very likely a reference to the fact that MagiYellow cameos in Ninninger, the show his prior Hitotsuki form was based on
Just subbed yesterday, happy to see more content.
- another thing about Tokumeiki, the old man having a child avatar could be a reference to buster gold who's body is stuck on a satellite, much like how the hitosuki was in the hospital, as well as both using an avatar to fight.

Yeah you having to point this out for them makes me think they didn't really watch the other shows or pay attention
Oh my, i legit forgot about that ending theme until you played it not even 40 seconds into the video. Ryusoulger very fun
44:10 in my opinion it is most likely a reference to the surgery a villain got in the show to get new powers.
Engineki's resemblance to the Go-Roader GT is all in the shoulders, the wheel shoulder pads are meant to resemble the Go-Roader in its wheel mode, particularly with the rims having the 3 black bars and 1 red bar surrounding the light blue circle
20:22 The head of the Pteranodon is on the left shoulder.
35 seconds in Donbrothers is a sudo sequel to Zenkaiger, it is not a anniversary season
thank you. youtube needs more Sentai and power rangers videos
The Lore Of DonBrothers Is Amazing
Another Fact in the Gekiranger Episode: Tsubasa stuck as a dog roaming the streets is prolly a reference to how in Gekiranger Gou Fukami(Gekiviolet) was stuck in his wereWOLF form roaming the streets
OMG SO TRUE, cant believe i missed that detail! Thank you
YOU Don’t Understand DONBROTHERS!
I always thought Sonoi was like Vergil from Devil May Cry.
So the Ice themed Hitosuki is probably based on the Abaranger Movie mecha, which was where the Villain Mecha was Ice Age themed to where they were turning the city into a new Ice age.
ahh this makes sence, thank you for that :D
I think the Pterodactyl part of Kyoryuki’s design is his left shoulder pad, where the crest on the back of its head is sticking outwards.
This show is essentially the embodiment of References like Zi-O is... but it has a slightly more flushed out original storyline than it's Rider counterpart.
lol, idk why but now I made a connection on how shows like Zyuranger when said almost sounds like “Jewranger” or “Jewohger” or “Jewden” very fun.
Another layer to the Kaizoku Hitotsuki. The episode it appears in is about Haruka (no longer a Donbrother) meeting and interacting with the character who inherited her powers. Not unlike a Gokaiger tribute episode.
Zenkaiger be crying rn
If MaxOr make a Tokusatsu show with the legend

Woah now that explanation of my Favorite super Sentai show tq❤
To me, zenkaiser black can be a rough guess as that there are many kaitos in many worlds. And heres a world where kaito is a hero ✨️
fun fact: haruka's driving instructor is played by gamel from kamen rider ooo's
What a great video. I love it
Ok so I’m not sure if anyone else noticed this- because it wasn’t called out but Dobutsuki has another tie to Zyuohger as she shares a similar goal of Caring for everyone as do the Zyuohgers sense their primary goal is to make sure everyone is safe- And Yamato specifically having the goal to protect all creatures.

in EP 3 as a LupinRanger stan I felt bad for how it ended for the Kaitouki and its when my rage
against Sononi began
Where is Avataroki? King-Ohger crossover?
Donbrothers: It’s a show about nothing!
Yet fun to watch
REFERENCES!
They never showed the Juuto leader who was at inu's camping trip, and who exactly kaito black is.
1 hour of Don Bro Rant
The thumbnail gives me TrueUnderDawg vibes, just me, aight.
You dont need to understand it
Does anyone seriously try to understand it lol
I just enjoy it while make my brain take a rest
it was strange that The gimmick of changing to past Rangers with kind of forgetful and wasted opportunity focused about the comedy and story but since you explain everything it makes sense

I only scratched the surface, would people want an even deeper dive into each episode tho?
I mean that is up to you. I'm just here pointing out that Donbrothers was pure insanity in many ways, haha. The power of Inoue! @@KezzaHenshin
What a great video!
Getting a nagging suspicion that the video maker didnt watch the other sentai shows that are being referenced.
The flashback of Tsubasa's girlfriend 's disappearance in ep. 17 is a reference to how Jetman ep. 1, where Red Hawk's girlfriend does the same thing
Another thing you may or may not have noticed is that some of the monsters of the week you similar parts, and are jumbled around or repainted
Well. I guess I don’t understand it. But hey, that’s pretty cool not gonna lie
About the abarenki
It might be reference to BakurenOh appears the abaranger movie and in the series which have power of ice

40:35 I think that the angel demon showing up in the same episode the black condor theme was playing, as well as the demon using the same chestpiece as the jetman demon, was also intentional
51:38 I'm pretty sure its a spade on the head, because the chestpiece looks like a heart, and it'd make sense for the heart to be on the chest piece.
1:05:05 To be fair, King Ohger wasn't out yet so the bug combo theming wasn't likely locked in as that sentai yet. And an anniversary season having a MotW based on the UPCOMING season after the cameo already happened is pretty unexpected.

I've got a crackpot theory that they're connected...I just need more crack to prove it.
Donbrother is just Super Sentai answer for Gumball. I swear a lot of wacky moment in this show won't be out of place in Gumball.
Monster is an it, they is s plural
Sonoi and the others are all based on shortlived toei toku series.
Everytime she said "CLEARLY" I only recognize some of it when watch donbrother
Also, the driving instructor for Haruka is the villain Gamel from kamen Rider OOO
Something to add about the Zyuohger reference
The woman who becomes Doubutsuki being a doctor is likely a reference to Yamato/Zyuoh Eagle’s father being a doctor as well

if you love donbrothers you would also like jetman agito & faiz they have the same vibe more soup opera genre.
Honestly, Kijino’s spiral first started when he let the Machine Demon guy get killed.
Seriously, dude straight up redirected Taro’s finisher and let Sonoi have the kill. And then he said he’d do it again if he needed to when the credits started to roll
Does anyone understand Donbrothers?
Wait... isn't the word "Choujin" means "Super Human" ?!?
If I remember it right "Choujin" doesn't translate to "Bird"
"Choujin Sentai Jetman" means "Superman Squad Jetman" tho
It's one of my THE BEST Super sentai.
also kezza what’s your opinion about the gimmicks about donbrother The alters The gears and the lore and for God sake and Don Murasame
The Abaranger Hittosuki also looks kinda like the villain of Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Mesogog, eho was a Dinosaur man.
Okay, I'm confused. How was season 46 an anniversary season? That would be Zenkaiger.
DONBROTHER is the only sentai that i don't understand the story ....... THere is no BIG BAD BOSS .... So sad
I wonder what a kingoger or boonboomger monster would look like?
Howdy
Okay I get that each monster is a reference. Is that literally all this video is? I thought you were going to explain the season.
Why is masculinity toxic? Kijino isn't even all that masculine.
i don't know
