You make it look too easy!!! That said, watching what you are doing makes it so much less scary to take a motor apart and put it back together the way it is supposed to be!!! Great job, Brandon!!!
This was my first time ever. I was a little intimated at first but I read my manual and felt pretty confident. I take lots of notes and pictures so that helps too. I can't wait to ride! Just a few more weeks and it should be warm enough
Dittto!!
@halbrookins3232 I was a little nervous too but is you take your time and reference your manual, it's actually pretty straight forward

Excellent job Brandon! Man I see you do things and it makes me want to do the same ! Although challenging it seems rewarding! I ok got an oddball question for you ? I have the 2000 xr100r I want to do at least minimum new piston rings and likely new piston. I’ve noticed that oem Honda piston and rings are different part #s for 2000 model versus 2001 + I wonder what’s the difference the engines look 100% identical outside
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words. As far as interchangeability between the years, I have no idea. I buy all my parts through Motosport. They have awesome customer service and will guide you in the right direction.
👍
Thanks man!
What you call a ridge is actually caused by water not a stuck ring which could have been set for a very long time by the previous owner oh you should start your engine up at least once a month I recommend every few weeks and that's what water does to a cylinder wall and starts eating up the metal
That was fun! I'm just curious. How much does it cost for a cylinder?
$140 if I remember correctly. It's less than having it sent out and fixed.
It cost more than that in the 70s
Yah I think when I had my KTM cylinder honed and replated a couple years ago, it cost me at least 250. That Honda is pretty easy to work on and parts are ptetty cheap and readily available. I try to use OEM parts when I can. It's hard to beat the fit and finish.

I have no clue what that is....
