      A Howie Lab coat. This better than an ordinary lab coat, because it does right up to the neck. My students wear white and I wear Gold so they can easily see me in the lab.

    Sir, Isn't that too bright for eyes?

    • @PhilipRussell
      @PhilipRussell  10 месяцев назад +1

      That depends on how far you are away - the inverse square law applies. I didn't directly look at the light from the magnesium but slightly away from it.

    Mg+burner(O²)=MgO
    Or
    Mg+leave as if u fogot and accidently found it(O²)=MgO
    .
    my teacher said me in school that always clean (Mg) ribbon with sandpaper before use cause they get oxidised in due time . I think the magnesium ribbon is already cleaned or its freshly unpacked.

    I guess Magnesium has atomic signature with oxygen inside the atom and heat ? Thoughts

    • @PhilipRussell
      @PhilipRussell  Год назад +1

      When the magnesium is heated, the magnesium gains enough energy that , two of the outer shell electrons react by combining with oxygen atoms in the air breaking the bonds of the oxygen apart and creating a new bond with the magnesium. This requires much less energy than the MgO bond so the excess is given out as heat.
