I was there exactly one week ago, and the gates had apparently just gone up. Our tour guide was completely caught off guard by the fountain's closure. She thought maybe it was because there was a big Europa League soccer match in Rome that night (Lazio vs. Nice), and hooligans have damaged Roman fountains in the past.
look it's impossible, I live next to the Circus Maximus I go to the center every day and I assure you that the barriers were installed on October 7th. so it's not possible that a few weeks ago there were
no look, for the match definitely not. it's for the renovation. but anyway I tell you that the other week I'm sure they weren't there because they were put up on October 8th. Then you see I live here.
Yeah, I read yesterday about closing Fontana di Trevi and the acces on that walkway will be for a fee 😅 But also the fountains in Piazza Navona are surrounded by panels, Fontana della Rotonda too....probably the same reason but they were like this the whole summer ☹️ Anyway, Rome will be always crowded because we love it, all of us 😃
It's because the next summer here will be the "Jubileum" and the city council scheduled a lot of renovation work on the most important monuments of the city. It's a big mess!!
yes unfortunately in view of the jubilee all the major structures have been renovated. Today I will go to the center and I will tell you if the construction site in Piazza Navona has been dismantled

Just visited the place three weeks ago. So weird... There is not a single Italian in that crowd. Just imagine: being in Rome and not seeing any Italians 🙂

Was there a few weekends ago and it was also closed like on the video at daytime, but evenings it was opened up
