And Whiny Bitch Gamer (Mega Man 7 is on the list and he hates the SNES, or in this case, the “NES Super Game System”) played by ExoParadigmGamer, just you wait until he reviews An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (the game and maybe even the movie which SNESDrunk reviewed, I like the game better than the already fun movie for not making it look like a bad think if Tanya chooses to wear lipstick or not as she was getting older like in my future An American Tail sequel series where the kids grow up with families of their own and excluding the racist stereotypes of indigenous mice that thankfully The Treasure of Manhattan Island is now prominent for addressing) alongside AVGN and the Super Mario World custom hacks (I’m known as the type of guy to request myself alongside ExoParadigmGamer to make “Why TheSecond Reality Project Reloaded is the WURST GAME IN THE WURLD!!! (A WBG Rant-view)” via Frigid Fire/SteveGreeneComedy & James Maslow Productions’ “The KGHS Show”.
Then again, this is coming from a fan of the SNES who thinks that while these games are definitely hard, they’re still more fair than games from its predecessor console (which some of them like, of course, Super Mario Bros. 3, would have a much better balance of difficulty as it’s a surrealistic masterpiece even after 36 years) and of course, I can see why the epic Super Mario World duology isn’t on the list (the original is easier than they say and the sequel/prequel, while definitely challenging, the sequel is even harder).

Zombies Ate My Neighbors in the top 3 makes sense. Here's my take on why it's so difficult. 1.) Having 10 neighbors to save at the start. But as you progress, if one dies, then on the next level, you'll only have 9 neighbors to save. Depending on how many neighbors perish, the game will subtract the same amount of neighbors for the next level. If that makes sense. If you get in the situation where you only have one neighbor to save, and if you're in the later levels where you have all kinds of monsters roaming everywhere, and if a monster kills that last neighbor, it's curtains(game over). 2.) On the original SNES, there's no save system; there's a password system, which will allow you to start on the level you last left off or near the level you left off on. However, you won't have all the weapons you collected. You'll start with the squirt gun and health pack(s), but It's becomes really hard just having the base weapon and not having the right weapon on hand when you're in the later levels and having tougher monsters chasing you around. 3.) The cycle system with your weapons; some weapons are one-hit kills on certain monsters (EX. silverware on werewolf or Popsicles/fire extinguisher on blobs), so you're cycling through your arsenal for a specific weapon to deal with that monster chasing you while at the same time you're dodging other monsters(zombies, evil dolls, mummies, chainsaw maniacs, ETC...) an additional challenge, but I think it is a minor flaw in the game. 4.) Collecting Weapons/Health; if you don't take the time to collect weapons and health items, then when it comes to fighting bosses, it will be difficult. I remember co-op with my brother. We got to the level where you fight the Giagantic Spider boss for the first time. We ended having low ammunition or not the right weapon to beat the Gigantic Spider. So, my brother and I had the idea to backtrack the level to see if we can scrounge out any more weapons laying around. But in doing so, we had to deal with the monsters coming at us. Making us waste more ammunition. We weren't able to beat the boss spider, unfortunately. I just remember having little hope of beating the boss spider, finding more weapons, and expecting a game over and not moving on to the next level was a bummer. But the memory of the experience at that moment with my brother is precious to me.
But that's my take on my Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a challenging but fun game. Also, the music is catchy as hell. I tip my hat off to Joe McDermott(music composer), such as a genius musician.

Excellent take! It's a favourite of mine as well, although I don't think of myself as a very avid gamer.
I beat the spider once. I played the game straight through, hoarding monster potions and treasure chests the entire time. The monster being impervious is a big component. And those treasure chests are great against really powerful opponents. I used a bunch of them in a castle level and I ended up getting a, "Vampire killed" bonus at the end. Biggest bonus I've ever seen in that game!

Took a while to beat Zombies ate my Neighbors . Used to play on emulators and using save states . Years later started grinding every day on SNES. Getting farther each time . Finally was able to but would pause and turn off the TV after an hour and pick up later. The code system kinda sucks , you don’t have items that can be necessary to get in earlier levels, to be used later. Except for the BCDA code that starts you on the 1st special level , then you can play the first level and get an opportunity to go into that special level again . All the extra items help. Still a great game . Still would like to see a proper sequel or reboot . Ghoul Patrol doesn’t count , it wasn’t intended and was shoehorned in.

But I still LOVE the tone and presentation, and I've been praying for 4-player modern revival for years. (Couch co-op is the BEST!)
Super Ghouls and Ghosts is #2. It looked and sounded SOOO cool and creepy, but after being stuck on Level 4 or 5 for days, I was ultimately defeated.

I honestly think DKC3 is harder than DKC2. That rocket level gave me more issues than animal antics in DKC2
Be prepared was way more difficult than can’t wait to be king was. There were more 1 hit unalivings in that level and should you lose all your lives and continues, you’d have to start over from the beginning. I still really dislike those bats that knocked you in the lava.
Getting to world 9 in Lost Levels was really hard too (no warping). If you went down a wrong path to a warp zone, the only solution was to lose a life so you didn’t warp.
I am willing to bet that one of the hardest games on the N64 is going to end up being Diddy Kong Racing. Unless you hit every zipper lifting the A button when doing so, Wizpig was tough, but unlocking TT was even more difficult.

And to make Contra 3 even harder in order to get the game's true ending which leads into the storyline of the PS2 chronological sequel in the lore Contra Shattered Soldier you have to beat Contra 3 on the hardest difficulty which I managed to do after 50+tries which including me saying words I wasn't allowed to say at that young of a age.
Keeping on the topic of getting a SNES game's true ending in Super Ghost and Goblins in order to access the true final level, fight the true final boss and the get the true ending you have to get the Psycho Cannon a ultra powerful magical weapon which is only usable in the true final level, now while this doesn't seem like a issue here's what makes it a issue the Psycho Cannon is found in the first stage but it's located in a portion of the first stage that is easily missable if you're not actively looking for and due to the fact you're not made aware of this fact until you complete what you thought was the game's final level means there's a high chance you're going to miss getting the Psycho Cannon on the first go around which means you have to play through the game again just to get another shot at finding the Psycho Cannon

Honorable Mention: Another World. MAN, that game was hard! I never could finish it!! You have a ONE POINT HP and everything is trying to kill you. You also have no way to save the game, so if you get shot/killed it's back to the very beginning!
You do find a gun to shoot at your enemies and create a force field, but it runs out of energy easily before you can charge it, plus, you do meet a friend that helps you, but he also has a one point HP and can just as easily get turned into ashes if he gets hit.
I have no idea what happens after you get the gun. I ran out of energy for it before I could charge it...😓
