Don at the end was like 'thanks for the breather there Jimmy' lol
Jimmy Fortune's voice is fabulous and the group's harmonies are unparalleled. Huge fan!
These guys did an outstanding cover here.
Love the great pretender love jimmy voice
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING SONGS EVER SANG. JUST BEAUTIFUL......
Great singing group. Love their singing performance . Thanks for sharing.
I love theStatler Brothers
i grew up on these guys
Love the Statlers esecialy Jimmy sings TO MUCH ON MY HEART a beautiful song.
I have worked with these guys several times, wonderful group of people!
The Statler's are classic no matter what song they do. The character of their sound and their music is unmatched in music by newer groups since then.
When I was a teenager here in New York they had a big hit in Flowers On The Wall which was considered Rock And Roll. As for country music they are the greatest and what can I say about Lew Dewitt other than there was no better tenor he is missed. Also if you happen to have I Was There could you upload it. Thanks New York City country fan.
so well done by the Statlers.
I grew up listening to these guys. I"m 19. The first concert I ever saw was them! I still love them. Got to meet Jimmy after he went solo. One of the best moments of my life. I will "go to my grave loving" them!
So will I.
Thanks for uploading this.
What a voice, he must take good care of himself. I love 2 C the best, older performers that /BRING IT so perfectly. Esp. since I M Not young, anymore.
Still gives me chills-good ones!
Yeah, I love these guys. Unfortunately I only just discovered them.
I was a bit shocked to see this: first Freddie Mercury, my IDOL, covered this, and now the Statler Brothers, the single greatest country band ever, covered it. And did an amazing job I might add.
Jimmy is fantastic!
just great
Great song. I used to listen to the Statler Brothers and watch their show with my Grandma
was wondering who Elizabeth might be , now I know a beautiful song !
I know who 'Elizabeth' is: It's actually about two different girls. But, the song doesn't lose any meaning or heart-felt tenderness once you know the story.*
The song was for two ladies, actually... Right after Jimmy Fortune joined the BROS. he wrote this about the mother of 4 of his kids, & the song was named after his newborn baby girl. But, it's her middle name, not her 1st name.
No matter what, it's gorgeous, and I grew up to these albums in my family record collection, and had many, many good summertime memories listening to the hometown boys
[*I'm obviously, Staunton,VA born & raised. I used to babysit Jimmy's kids in the early 1990s on baseball tournaments, etc...My mom taught Harold & Don's kids in high school, and my brother played Kiwanis little league with Jimmy's son & Phil's grandson...]
R.I.P. Harold. :-(
Beautiful!
I’ve danced to this many years ago!
3:36 look at Don's face :D
I love This!
Always loved the Starlet Brothers. Harold is so funny.
Tammy Courtney Harold has always been my favorite. But I love absolutely all of them.
S T A R L E T brothers
If I am not mistaken, this song has a final piece where all Statlers sing together 'still around'. That's so surreal moment!
Fantastic ! Always enjoyed the Statlers, they really were blessed with talent. Good family entertainers. Wish they would do one more tour, wouldn't you? Give my comment a thumbs up if you would like for them to do one !!
the farewell concert- October 26, 2002. bittersweet.
This is by far better then any other rendition ever done.
thanks for sharing this great video great song!5*****!!!
One of my fave trax from the Farewell Concert. I have the 2-CD set, and it's all I've been listening to (giving Keith Whitley a short, small rest ;)... but I really must get the DVD!
Jimmy so awesome!!🙂🙂🎤🎤
BRILLIANT.THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
The Platters cant be put in any category-----they are timeless-----I played their music to death--LOL----they were the best group ever----BUT then the Statlers, are too- love you guys-----and miss you-----
Simply the best...I grew up on these guys....The Oak Ridge Boys....Yes even the Backstreet Boys....I'm 39 and love good quartet music. The Statlers r the best of the best......
Flawless!
Like, this video is hosed because its audio level is too low. Way to go, babe!
MY GIRLFRIENDS GRANDMOTHER WROTE THIS SONG AND HAD IT STOLEN FROM HER WHEN SHE SENT IT IN.. HER NAME WAS NETTIE FAULKNER

@ saulean emil glorii
Don and Phil too
Where can i get the lyrics of this beautiful song
The Platters " great pretender" original
incredible.
@hoelital You're probably right, but I don't know how Harold would have handled being around Freddie...
I think the origional cover was by the platters, right?
if you would have gotten all of the song he would have
It is?
love the stats followed cash since i was 7 but SORRY no comparison to the PLATTERS, the grearest pretenders were the white cover groups with a few exceptions like the belmonts, the diamonds and i may have missed 1or 2 go to the platters now as see .Harp....................................
everyone who knows the Statlers know this...
Actually Freddie Mercury's version owns in all areas. Freddie was sheer perfection. Not to say that the Platters and the Statlers are not amazing, it's just Freddie, and Queen back when they had him, are the best.
The voices are still great, but Donny and Harold aren't aging very well....
not as good as when lew , was singing !!!
Yeah jimmy dont have the sound of lew but hes a great guy. I see him walking around the park here in staunton every now and then
Two very different voices! Lew carried them through 1982 and Jimmy carried them from 1982 until 2002 when they retired and he's still performing. If either one of them had been missing, there would have been no Statler Brothers. Just enjoy them both.
What a voice, he must take good care of himself. I love 2 C the best, older performers that /BRING IT so perfectly. Esp. since I M Not young, anymore.
