- Henrik Knape, product manager and head of sales for the ARCHER mobile 155mm howitzer at BAE Systems Bofors, with a walk around of the company's novel artillery system at the Association of the United States Army's 2021 conference and tradeshow in Washington, DC. ARCHER, which is now in service with the Swedish Army, can be ready for action, fire at its target, and get back on the move in less than a 90 seconds. Using smart munitions such as the Excalibur, ARCHER is capable of hitting targets 60 kilometers away and is competing for the US Army contract to replace the service's towed 155mm artillery pieces.
Hopefully US puts politics aside and BUYS THIS SYSTEM.
Archer - MRSI 6 rounds, 42km range with standard ammunition, Excalibur (GPS) has 65km range. And Bounus (IR) grenades are seeking out and destroys tanks.

This is what a Volvo articulated hauler is capable of.
Yes. Very capable truck system. The CAT 730 is very very similar.
what are all those small pieces like a bandage all over the vehicle? for setting up camo?
Dunno, but could be.
Yes it is mounting points for cammo mats that help with heat signature aswell as normal camouflage. Sweden has it on most larger vehicles.
Get this to Ukraine STAT
Go yourself.
Is this the same unit that was tested at Yuma?
I believe so
Considering he says so in the video I would say that it is highly likely
Rhino G6 Still the best in the world
Byt namn till Thors Hammer 😉
If the Canadian government is serious on expanding the armed forces. I believe a system such as this could play a role in our national defence.
It's unclear how this (or any other) self-propelled system would displace or serve alongside our towed guns. Or, if an SP gun would be preferable to an artillery rocket system like HIMARS. What's the best mix, and what priority should be given to indirect fires versus the multitude of enhancements the Cdn Army needs? For that matter, what military 'problems' is the Army supposed to solve? Ukraine may have sharpened minds, but it's far from clear that the government will want the Army to do more than what it's already doing in Latvia, which to make a very modest-sized contribution to deterrence.
But yes, a system that provides firepower with a low crewing requirement could theoretically be attractive. (Personnel levels are too low as it is, so we need seek innovative solutions.)
did he say 8 rounds per min 60km away? hmm WTF. 20 SEC deployment time.
it is correct.
Needs to be shipped to Ukraine.
No
Can be shipped anywhere for a price. Sweden has 12 for sale.
If they buy them, sure. Only Sweden has the Archer system as we made it and we alone use it.
@@DinKompis made by BAE
@@intervention1131 BAE is a international concern headquarters in UK, comprised of many different daughter companies. BAE Systems Bofors and BAE Systems Hägglunds are situated in Sweden.
Bofors has been developing and manufactured artillery systems since 1600's, Hägglunds develop combat vehicles etc.
So I guess you could say "made by" could mean different things.
How much? Amazon delivered?
Ikea, go and ask at the information desk, not in the catalog, some assembly may be required. Allan key not included.
I hope the gun does not go off into the crew compartment.
It can't!
What really annoys me about most explanations and "demonstrations" of such systems, including this one, is that they very rarely, if ever, give any proper details or demonstrations related to accuracy and precision. At best, vague statements are provided.
Because that is not only down to this system, but what you load it with.
Load it with an Excalibur round, and you can hit a moving vehicle up to 50km away.
That is why they are talking about rate of fire, burst fire, turn around time, etc etc. Because that is down to the system itself.
That is because we don't need to know, and probably would not understand the criteria, unless we were Army artillery officers or Defense Engineers. Were you an Artillery Officer or Engineer?
@@shooter7a Does being so patronising and condescending make you a happy person?
I have a better idea for mobile artillery
Good for you!
This weapon system has been extremely effective in Ukraine. Shoot, move, shoot, move, shoot, move. Reload and repeat.
It's not deployed in Ukraine. Has never been. It may be sent there soon though, but as it stands it has no real combat experience yet
I think you should deploy to Ukraine and put your money where your mouth is.
The system haven't been sent to Ukraine yet ^^
Nora B52.
The Archer has a greater rate of fire
Good for countries with lower GDP, but clearly not as good as Archer.
@@Dunken88 Nora is armoured against shrapnel, has more ammunition in it, has a longer fiering range, for Serbian army 67 km. For export 42km.
@@100СРБИН so is archer
@@christianhansen6061 I dont think so.
Shouldn't the US Army get something simple, reliable and mobile seeing how we already have high end tracked and armored artillery capability!? The French look to have gotten his concept right with the 'CEASAR' its dead simple - they put a good cannon on a reliable truck 👍 This concept also needs to be mobile. This thing is TWICE the weight and size of the French CEASAR. I think they tried to create a 1990's tech wondermachine that could outfight Russian armored SPAGs back when tech was very different and therefore this system is probably the worst possible choice for the US Army.
The gun can be mounted on to any truck you want. it is a modular platform. The Volvo articulated dumper model is used by sweden and dont need to have people running around it to shoot. you can sit comfy inside the cabin and only needs 3 persons to run it. If you want a outdated gun that needs people outside then the Caesar artillery. Less people to maintain a piece means that you save money or can have people do other stuff instead.
@@mortil but still cost DOUBLE price of Serbian Nora B52 m21 capable doing all same as archer...

Nora b52 and mgs-25 are both on MAN 8x8 trucks so how much more do you need ? For price of Archer who need spgh for poor roads and hard terrains you can buy both Nora and some tracked spgh
@@miladinseratlic5984 Archer has no trouble in any terrain.
