This is the same supercharged V6 engine as Exige 350 Sport, 390, 410 and 420 - even the Evora GT. It makes 400hp and up in those things. The Exige weighs in from 1100kg and can be lighter with carbon fiber panels front and back, roof, diffuser, LiPo crank battery, and seats. I imagine the same weight savings would apply to an Emira: that glass tailgate engine display panel, maybe the air induction box, the wheel rims, definitely the seats (although I would want to continue the tilt forward passenger-side's utility with a tilt forward frame base). The factory roof skin is probably also horrendeously weighty, but I don't know if that roof comes off like an Exige and Elise, and finally even the rear view glass could be replaced with polycarbonate. It sort of looks like the proposed reboot of the Espirit that they were going to do back in 2014, but with a bit more styling down the side. Looks amazing tbh, especially the inside. The V6 sounds like it'll be a great package but IMO maybe it's a missed opportunity that they didn't go with what they were going to put in that car, a 5.0-litre V8 engine delivering up to 620 PS and optional KERS, really go out with a bang. Watching the other reviews it wasn’t apparent to me the AMG 4 cylinder would be the more powerful engine. Interesting how people’s perceptions will align with that. Time will tell I guess.
Excellent review as always of a very nice package. As an Evora owner I’m delighted to see the uplift in the interior and also that they’ve kept the price accessible. I am surprised by the weight, I’d have expected it to be 100kg lighter. Also I was pleased to read elsewhere the oversized wheels are an option, I’d definitely go for 19s with more rubber on show.. looking forward to the 460 bhp specials later on.
The best looking Lotus I've ever seen. An awful lot of performance, good looks and comfort for the money. If I was in the market for a to seater sports car, I'd probably go for this over the Ferrari 296 GTB.
allways said buying a new car is not worth it, cause it depreciates very fast, but this model not only looks like a supercar, but being the last combustion engine lotus i think in time will apreciate. this car i will buy new if i can, hopefully in 2 years time.
I assume the v6 is a lexus unit. Why would you skip that engine which can be easily tuned to produce more power for the possibly poorer sounding less reliable 4 cylinder from merc. Great looking design i hope lotus make a success of this.
You rock! Your approach is always on point... Interesting strategy; one car to replace 3 cars, self-cannibalization typically demotes brand perceptions. Snd consumers need value brand/product differentiation 40hp may not be enough.
Apart from getting the engine power ratings arse about face, the V6 will be around 400bhp and the AMG around 360bhp, I like this bloke he presents really well, and it is a beautiful looking car. When it is launched and I can get a drive I think that I just might buy one.
Looks incredible inside and out. However as an owner of the orginal Exige V6, I’m slightly disappointed with the performance and power stats. My significantly lighter 9yr old Exige would leave both the 360BHP and 400BHP Emira versions for dead. The LOTUS CEO said that the Emira is a junior supercar. Im not so sure. Was hoping for power closer to 500BHP and 0-60 times closer to 3.5 seconds to really take on Porsche
But you gotta keep price in mind. To add an extra 100hp they'll have to strengthen the engine and drivetrain which will add to the price. 360hp and a manual transmission will be perfect for the streets anyway.
@@stevewilliams9338 yeah i get what you're saying they could have kept the v6 one as is and made another more powerful and more expensive version because in my opinion the i4 is pointless considering it only has an additional 40 hp and you can't even get it with a manual
*As many have pointed out, the engine information is reversed in this video. Now that both versions of this car are out, the turbocharged I4 makes 360hp and the supercharged V6 makes 400hp.*

I don't see it selling well. The choice of a high hp 2.0l from AMG in your 6 figure lotus is NOT a selling point. Too much competition.
Reports are mixed online about which engine is the higher output. Still not 100% sure which it is?
The front air vents look like its from a c7 corvette and the back reminds me pf a 2020 tesla roadster
This could be the best looking sport car at that price level. Shout out to Lotus.
I’d say at any price level. Even better than the evija imo
I remember as a kid wanting the first generation Elise but THIS
I never seen a better edited video !
You are the best presenter on YT ;) keep do what You are doing.
A perfect car to buy 2nd hand in full spec with 2k miles at 6 months old and keep for the rest of your life.
A true future classic 👌
Rory is pure class!
That is a very beautiful car with a very nice spec at a good price and it looks more expensive.
T-shirt does match with the Lotus. Stunning👏👏👏. Great Rory.
Stunning 👍
Rest In Peace Lotus
I assume the v6 is a lexus unit. Why would you skip that engine which can be easily tuned to produce more power for the possibly poorer sounding less reliable 4 cylinder from merc. Great looking design i hope lotus make a success of this.
Lexus / Toyota 2GR
Emira in Albanian means "the good one" (in feminine)
And my cousins name is emira 😂
La buena. - From albanian to spanish
Or princess in Arabic
Ferrari 488 and Maserati MC20 having a baby. Love it
Clicked faster than a Rimac does 0-60
Looks incredible inside and out.
@@All_SportGG true. I think as perhaps a Cayman rival its perfect, but was hoping for something a bit more spirited to take on the 911s of the world.
@@stevewilliams9338 yeah i get what you're saying they could have kept the v6 one as is and made another more powerful and more expensive version because in my opinion the i4 is pointless considering it only has an additional 40 hp and you can't even get it with a manual
@@stevewilliams9338 yes, it’s called the new Esprit. It’s coming…
*As many have pointed out, the engine information is reversed in this video. Now that both versions of this car are out, the turbocharged I4 makes 360hp and the supercharged V6 makes 400hp.*
What a beauty,work of art,the designer nailed it,welldone lotus.🙄😎
It’s giving Maserati mc20. But I like it
It's the other way round, the V6 has 400bhp, the AMG engine has 360bhp and comes with a semi auto.
the S engine has 421 HP
I love it from the first sight! More than any Ferrari (except one mostly for V12 engine) produced today! I would take it over SF90 or 296GTB design wise any time even if they all cost the same! Just my taste:)
I reserved one already!!!!!!!!! From lotus of Florida!!!!
Must admit that it looks very good indeed. As it's a Lotus it will have brilliant road holding and driving dynamics. Looks like a winner only time will tell.
Let's hope it comes to the US at a reasonable price (around C8 or lesser).
It's going to cost a little more than the C8 in the U.S.
My Dream car is the all equipped Audi A6, but I will buy this also. What an Astonishingly Gorgeous Car! ❤️
Good to see another high profile classic car brand abandoning ICE for an EV future. "The last Lotus petrol car", that sounds just right.
Rory and an exotic car: Name a better duo I'll wait
With Lotus Pedigree on Car Handling for me the best in the business it promises brilliance..
