For the lazy, I dictated the recipe from this video. For yeast starter: 1 cup milk 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 stick butter 1 egg, 1 egg yolk 1 packet dry yeast For dough: 4 cups AP flour 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt For egg wash before baking: 1 egg, beaten 1 tbsp water For finished glaze after baking: 4 tbsp butter 2 tbsp honey kosher salt to sprinkle Heat 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup sugar to 110ºF. Add 1/2 stick butter, melted, to the mixture. Add one beaten egg and an additional egg yolk, whisked, to the mix. Add packet of dry yeast and wait until foamy at the top. If it does not foam, the yeast is not alive. Get new yeast and start over. Add 4 cups all-purpose flour and 1.5 tsp kosher salt to stand mixer, mix until incorporated with dough hook. Add yeasty mix to stand mixer, kneading for 5-8 minutes until smooth and elastic and pulling from the sides of the bowl (slightly sticky to the touch). Make dough into smooth ball. Let rest in a greased bowl and cover with kitchen towel for an hour or until doubled in size. Using three fingers, punch down dough and transfer to floured surface. Sprinkle with flour and knead for a couple of minutes. Roll dough into sausage shape by hand. Roll out dough with a rolling pin into a rectangle, approximately 18 inches wide. Roll dough into a long, bready joint. Cut 15 equal sections of dough to be made into small balls. Pull each dough section into smooth ball shape with folds/seams at the bottom. Add all dough balls, equally spaced out, into a cast iron pan greased with butter or a casserole dish. If there is too much room, the dough will expand to fill in the empty space. Let the dough boys rise for 30 minutes. Crack one egg, add one tbsp water, and whisk. Brush tops of dough balls with this. Add to 350ºF oven, 25 minutes or golden brown. Melt butter and a bit of honey and mix well with a spoon. Brush this mixture on the buns when they come out of the oven. Finally, sprinkle some kosher salt on top of the buns.
My wife and I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate everything that you do. Your RUclips channel was recommended to me in the Spring, right about the time we had to start working from home due to the pandemic. As I started watching your videos I started thinking, “This looks easy enough to make. Let’s try it.” The first thing I made was your egg frittata, and it was amazing! We look forward to your videos every week. We are able to watch the video during our shared lunch break, and there have been several occasions where we are making your newest video for dinner. So far we have made your egg frittata, steak sandwiches, meatballs (on the smoker - amazing!), chicken pot pie, garlic knots, the garlic bread stuffed crust pizza, the one pan chicken mexican skillet dinner, the mcrib, the candied bacon, the burger with onion tanglers, and cilantro lime rice. We recently took delivery of your newest cookbook and your entire knife collection. We tried the knives the other night and they are amazing. We absolutely adore them. Due to all the cooking it is a constant struggle to keep my kitchen clean, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I’ve used my kitchen more in the last few months because I’m making your recipes than I have in years. I just wish I had a bigger kitchen so I could have more room to make your delicious recipes. Thank you for all that you do. #samsgiving2020 #andnowwemix

I want to share a very special story after making these rolls. I had no idea these were called “Parker” rolls. My grandmother made these for every Sunday dinner. I would eat them till it made me sick when I was a young boy. She passed away when I was 10 along with her recipe. I am 32 now. We found a similar recipe recently a relative tried to write down when she made them but it never quite got to the same taste. I have tried for the last few years to recreate them and they were pretty close but not the same. It did the job till I made this recipe today! This is the closest thing I tasted in 22 YEARS!! You have changed my life and my holiday baking for our family FOREVER!! It brought a tear to my eye today when I tasted these today. I have been watching this channel for a couple years and it blew my mind when I seen you upload this recipe. I told my wife that looks just like grandmas rolls! I cannot thank you enough for this and it means soooo much to me you will never know! Sorry for the long story but you are the man I will always be so grateful for this recipe and your videos!! I just found your channel and I'm having a ball. I cook outdoors a whole lot on old equipment. Now I can get out of the same old routine. I love your equipment (especially the Kamado and the Traeger) as well. My wife would be proud of me (I think). Who knows? Keep em coming.
These rolls made me look like a superstar tonight. Thanks Sam
2 weeks I was gifted your cookbook for my Birthday and saw this recipe - so excited this RUclips is released. Our family Holiday meals are in dire need of good dinner rolls so Thank You!
I watch a lot of different cooking channels, but your videos are the only recipes I actually try, and they are always amazing!
Love Betty Crocker and love Sam the Cooking Guy❣️ my husband would eat the entire pan of rolls! Making these!👍
Ok Sam, you're killing me. My husband and I watch all your video's and he is constantly telling me, "Doesn't that look delicious?" and then he says, "You think WE could make that?"...what he is really saying, is "Get your ass in the kitchen bi otch and make me what Sam just made!" Well, it being Covid and all, I'm not working at the moment (I worked at a hospital in outpatient rehab) so I'm going to start trying your receipts. I just wanted to add we love your video's and you yelling "Astor" all the time and even you cussing....we are about your age and I find absolutely f@#$ing funny!!!! It brings a smile and a laugh in this dismal time we are in, so thank you and filming crew. Very intertaining and everything you make looks absolutely scrumptious!! Keep it up! BTW, I got one of your "It fat means flavor...." t-shirts and everyone gets a kick out of it when I where it...also because I'm a little plumptious! oh yea, you need a t-shirt that says, "ASTRO", like Joe Craig mention below. That would be f@#ing awesome! #samsgiving2020
There was definitely 15 rolls 😂 These look amazing! Trying them this weekend for sure 👍
You're killing me!! I just got home from the gym and decided to watch this. OMG!!!! LOL
Making those for Christmas. They look amazing
Sam,
We have been watching you since the pandemic started. You have inspired us to cook allot of your recipes. We just tried you buns and they are fantastic. We did a trial run and will make them for Thanksgiving. My wife says she can now be called Betty F***** Crocker.
Thank you for all you do
I love your videos, and so does my husband. We move around a lot (military) so depending on where we are it’s hard to find ingredients, but your recipes are not only easy to follow but they always look amazing! I’m definitely trying these for Christmas!
Both my Grandmom's made their own versions of that very recipe. Thanks for the flashback. 🤗❤
These are the best. Mine did not look quite as perfect but the taste was tremendous!
You’re amazing. Seriously upped my cooking game.
For sure making these on christmas, thank you for the recipe Sam
Watching the dinner roll episode and just wondering about how much melted butter to add to the yeast mixture. The amount wasn't mentioned.... thanks so much. They look amazing. I can't wait to try this recipe.
I think you have a magic oven.
In goes 14 buns and out comes 15 buns.
❤️🤣❤️
I'm definitely not going to criticize your technique! I'm going watch that part over and over until I can duplicate it. Beauty full.
OMG, these prizes are insane and any of them would be awesome....good luck to all who enter, much love from Canada ❤❤
OMG, I have to make these. Jumping over to check out the bbq chicken sliders now, you guys are so much fun to watch.
I made these dinner rolls tonight, they are amazing! They weren't as perfect as yours Sam, but I will perfect them! Trial run before Christmas dinner
hey sam, i found your page during my states covid shut down. im a purdy good cook, but was completely sick of my own cooking. found this channel and have watched it ever since. i enjoy the recipes and the " family entertainment"
Love your recipes, they are actually really easy to recreate! My husband and I love your channel, your personality is so real. Don’t listen to the haters that tell you to dial down on the swearing! You do you, boo. One request - a special guest star..Since you yell his name so often, we want to see “Astro!”.
