- Long a competent but rather uninspiring competitor to best-sellers like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape, the third-generation Tucson has reinvented itself to pose a credible challenge to such stalwarts.

bought my wife a '14 Tucson limited model and she loves it. I do really like the new design and wish we would have had a chance at it but she is very happy with hers and doesn't plan to ever let it go. Good job here Hyundai.
I just bought one. Smooth drive. Awesome vehicle
So you bought the one with the DCT transmission? Many have complained about it.
AJ R
It's true that some people complained about the transmission hesitating from a start. Mine did it a total of 4 times. The last recall did some kind of an update for it & it's been better than ever. I'm currently approaching 15K & I am still very happy with it. My mileage has been better than the window stickers estimates & it's surprisingly quick for a little 4 banger turbo. Everyone has their own opinion & likes/dislikes, but overall I am really Happy with my Hyundai.
That is a santafe
@@Junieboi3269 that’s what I heard too Santa Fe is the best
It just amazes me how nice these Hyundai models have turned out to look... & this is def. one of the best looking compact crossovers out there and it looks premium as well, especially how the tail lights light up.
I like the design. Much better than the competitors.
+nangnangee not better than CX 5 I think!
Tucson's look is much aggressive and sportier than the CX-5 I think! The CX-5 looks a bit girlish, mommy kind to me.
I think I get it lol BUT CX-5 has way better LED Daytime running light. This is for sure. Hyundai's LED DRL on down part of bumper looks MEH. LED DRL appears to be really cool on CX-5 and CR-V.
@@sanjogar cx-5 is smaller as far as leg room .....
Roy Park who cares about day time running lights??? Lmao it’s not that big of a deal unless you’re a bad driver
The design kills all the competitors
Design wise, tucson and cx5 are the best in my view
+digiver I agree, but the Hyundai has the edge in terms of looks. I was considering both and actually parked a 2016 Tucson next to a CX-5. The Tucson looks much better, IMO. The alloy wheels and fluid lines really set it apart. That funky little curve at the bottom of the door on the CX-5 make it look like a crushed aluminum can. That said, you can't go wrong purchasing either one.
espedale
Tucson does look more substantial
+digiver I've driven both and The Hyundai is smoother and much quieter. I was amazed by this car/SUV. The Hyundai is a bit better looking to me.
J Silver appreciate your comparison review
+digiver audi designer knows how to deliver the beautiful cars... aka Hyundai designers now
I just bought a 2017 used Tucson. I love it
Chizzie Lovell do you still like it? I am thinking about purchasing one
@@208CraZygirl i just bought used one and it worth it.
Mohamed Djaoid Ahamada Mmadi thanks!
Do you think it is a good vehicle for a new driver?
I tried one yesterday, a certified one , what do you think ? Is it worth ?
The new Tucson is a contender
That also goes for it's sibling Kia Sportage.
Just picked up mine. He is a little beast. I named him the Dark Knight lol.
Zach is doing a good job again.... I liked the Tucson I saw today, interior well thought on top of good workmanship.
damn thats a gorgeous car
2017 Tucson Limited AWD so far luv this car and my mpg on the highway avg.30
I just added the Tucson SEL Plus to my Elantra sedan love them both. The 2019 refresh of Tucson will be out soon, this is the best time to get a deal on the 2018 Tucson
I love moonlight sonata.
Have this car for 3 months now, Im satisfied. I find it fun to drive good value for the money.
Excellent Review Zach! Your choice of vocabulary to describe the vehicle exudes a sense of academic tenancy lacking in other channels. Nice work #KBB.
1 week ago Me and my wife test drove a lot of small crossovers since we are planning on buying one this summer. Abut this car, this guy like every other reviewer got the top of the line model wit all the package. Out of all the crossover just by specs and online pictures the Mazda Cx5 and hyundai Tucson was at our top two, third the HRV, fourth rav4, fit was the crv. In person it all change except for the Mazda that now remain at the top and very close to it the Nissan rogue. The tucson has 4 trims, but only the top limited trim feels ok, all the others have way too much hard plastic and the interior it's boring. I only accept hard plastics in a old car or a off road one. The tucson has the best exterior, perdiod! but I care more for the interior since it's where I'm going to spend all of my time. That dual clutch and turbo has to much lag for a young guy like me who loves driving. Hyundai is no loner the best bang for the buck car, it's just as everyone else. today every car has almost about all the same specs, fuel economy, price, reliability and it all comes down to what you like best.
Wait it has duel clutch?
The Tucson interior is cheap looking
I totally had to do research and find out info about the dual-clutch because for a while I really thought that there was something wrong with the engine but now that I've had my 2017 Tucson for a while I've gotten used to it and what I do is I drive it in sport mode and it doesn't have that lag so if anybody's reading this put it in sport mode and you'll notice a difference with the get up and go...... but I absolutely love it.... it was such an on time blessing from the Lord...💚
I own a 2005 Tucson and I’m very happy with it. Definitely keeping this one in mind when it’s time for a new one. Hope it comes in shark gray.
It's worth noting that now, Hyundai has the, "SE Plus" trim, which gives you the larger touch screen, heated seats, air vents for the rear, and most other options found on the, "Limited" for thousands less. You get the 2.0 and 6 speed auto, which I think has more than enough power for daily driving and I feel may be better for long term durability. I just bought a 2017 Tucson SE Plus and it is absolutely perfect!
I saw it. It's nice. The Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage are the challengers to the Mazda CX5, Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4
I love the Hyundai Tucson!
I want it! I'm gonna get one! It's amazing tho I have yet to test drive it! Will go this weekend.
I think it's one of the best looking in the class also love the warranty. But I'm 6 2 would I be comfortable driving it everyday ?
Kyle Rider im 6'1 and its pretty comfy i think you will be ok.
Why does everyone hate the sound if u can hear the crap
When I'm in a car and there's no music just that sound of the wind and the car going fast u can hear it to me it's so relaxing .
I bought my new Tucson just like this orange one in the video in March 2017. So I like it and thinks it's pretty sharp looking for this Grandma to drive. 😀🚘
How has it kept up?
I got a chance to see the refreshed 2019 Tucson. The refreshed model looks good. The biggest changes are in the front and the interior. I have the 2018 Tucson SEL Plus.
THIS IS MY FIRST SUV......... I CHOSE THE HYUNDA TUCSON BECAUSE OF THE STYLE, COLOR, FEATURES AND THE TEST DRIVE SOLD ME THAT THIS SUV WAS FOR ME.THIS IS MY FIRST WINTER WITH MY TUCSON AND IT HANDLES GREAT IN THE SNOW WITH MY AWD. I LOVE IT .............
Thats awesome, Wayne!
@@kbb I've have the 2018 Tucson SEL plus for a couple of months to along with 2017 Elantra value edition. Love it, it handles great.
and best driver and front passenger crash rating in its class ...
Theyve done a software update for the cpu. The DCT is fantastic now. Glad I bought the top trim when I did.
I think it looks better than the Mazda CX-5.
You have to figure at some point that Hyundai and Kia will come out with a subcompact suv/cuv. It's should be based on the Accent and Rio's body. I could see the next generation Kia Soul will become that subcompact suv/cuv.
We bought same car in same color , love the features and driving too 😘
There is cruise control in the highlander range awd. The 2.0l Turbo Diesel is much better than the 1.6l petrol as well.
It's got ANDROID AUTO - I'm SOLD!
A Singh almost all 2016 cars do
Not Mazdas
L3G3ND Or Toyota & Lexus
Nothing distinguishable beside the major warranty difference!
I was able to get 3K off the window of my 2016 fully loaded AWD Limited. That made the price perfect for me. As for not having the adaptive cruise, just look at the Sonata. It has rat goofy looking black rectangle on the grill that stands out. I am glad my Tucson doesn't have that. If it should have had anything additional, it should have had a heated steering wheel. You get alot of vehicle for the money & man is it quiet!
that, not rat lol
Lol a heated steering wheel would make my hands sweat to much
I got the 2016 1.6 Turbo Limited
the worst vehicle I have ever had. we are having a continues AC issues and the Hyundai geniuses are unable to fix it
Hyundai sucks
Adam Sytsma Only 3K off? Wow when I looked at a fully loaded one the dealers were offering me 6K off.
well since I'm in a budget and it's not the car of our dreams (my dream car has to be cool on the inside with a futuristic interior and customizable gauges and power) I'm leaning towards the basic SE with all the packages and keep it for the 10 years.
David Zavala u suck
I feel like the Tucson looks better on the outside but the Sportage looks better on the inside.
Oi
Hopi
I drove test one and fell in love! Suck that the back door was jam that is an issue for these hyundai so I didnt buy it hope to find a gem soon if i do I'm taking that baby home!
I am planning to buy this car. I will often drive on highway, wondering if it is stable when the car speed is at around 80 mile/hour? Thanks!
Just bought mine ANNNND it's in the shop 1.6 turbo what's the deal ?! Last chance before I claim it as a lemon and upgrade to another unit !! Why a DCT ? Ain't those in the high performance cars .. plz advise
Is this a good first car? And would the insurance be expensive?
I'm here with u.... Not like a first first but a first nice car , start off with a cheap ass car that's been used like 5,000 and under then save up to get a car for the future u get me ?
+Autumn Collins Yes. I'm more into sports cars but i actually like this car, and no one is gonna let me get a sports car for my first car.
Well, my first new car was a Hyundai Accent 2007. It was my workhorse for 10 years... It went with me to all the places we were able to go. And I sold it running like day one and still smelling like new, after 10 years and over 125000 miles, and because I needed a bigger car... I never had a major problem with it. So in my experience, Hyundai was a good brand for me.
is the seat really that like a rock solid?
I Want One Of These Sooo Bad. 😩
nice looking i test drove this vehicle except for the slow pause from the start i wish hyundia gets rid of that transmission
I find it like a practical and useable suv
...ty!
I'd like to see more about how the power was in these review.. 0-60 1/4 mile ? passing power, etc. it's big deal to me and part of my decision on buying new suv soon.. it does have locking rear diff, so some mild off roading would be great too
I got nothing out of this video. You reviewed it like other RUclipsrs review a smartphone lol
I have the 2017 Tuscan DCT and at first was mostly fine, till I started seeing the "high temp, stop safely" message on dash when I was in stop and go traffic. It is not the normal overheating, but instead due to the dual clutch system. The clutches overheat for the "eco-friendly system". Last time it happened I couldn't pull over and the car died in traffic for 15mins. It is extremely INCONVENIENT and UNSAFE! Hyundai should be ashamed of themselves for sacrificing safety and efficiency for some marginal environmental impact in this 'eco-friendly' DCT. I will never buy another Hyundai again!
With this review and I just bought one. Now I'm scared because I hate the unexpected especially when I'm driving. Thanks for the review
I love my Tucson! Best looking in class!
in short, it does nothing surprisingly well, but it is cheaper and it looka really good.
I really like it I want one for Christmas 2021
How is it stuck up against 2017 Mazda CX-5?
Hi Great video
Toyota needs to hire Hyundai designers. Their design looks so good.
I dislike the DCT as it’s clunky until the car warms up. Other than that and me being slightly too tall for it it’s a great car.
any engine efficiency gains have been wiped out by making small SUV's bigger and bigger.
I love the rims
Too bad those come with the Dual Clutch Transmission.
I want this suv ♥
As long as my mothers 2006 jeep liberty
What about CarPlay and AndoidAuto ?
Does vehicle have lumbar support and/or lumbar adjustment?
Strong redesign.
Only the weak Hyundai brand holds it back, but it is getting stronger every day.
Beige only part was priceless lol
Help please my drivers side blind spot detection lights in the wing mirror is not working the passenger one is. Ive checked the manual to see if it could be a fuse but it connected to things that are working so i feel it cant be that. has anyone had the same problem.
Thank you for sharing. :D
looks good on outside. inside is kinda bland though
This car is now 14,000 If you buy it at the right time, and so is the Mazda. I can’t decide if I should buy a 2017 CX-5 sport Mazda or a 2017 Se Tucson. The Mazda looks more better and provides more luxury like leather stitching everywhere at a cheaper price than the Hyundai, they are both good reliable cars. It’s a tough choice, Honda and all the other big name brands just jack up the price because they can.
What is the right time?
I initially shortlisted tucson but later changed to camry (4 cyl) for 5 reasons:
1. Larger in size
2. Better engine, power
3. Better fuel economy
4. Better dealer discount
5. I prefer midsize sedans over compact suvs (😅)
Nice car!
Looks good
What is the difference between this and the Santa Fe Sport? They're basically the same thing.
+Penelope416 The Santa Fe Sport is considered a Mid-Size Crossover and the Tucson is the Compact Crossover. The Tucson starts about $23,000 for a base model and the Santa Fe Sport starts about $26,000 for a base model
What is the difference between Prada high heel shoes and Walmart shoes? Lancome makeup vs Lorac makeup, LV purse vs Chinese no brand purses?
All cars have 4 wheels and a steering wheel but yet they are not the same.
+ivinio ... yo... that's deep bro. Trying to be all philosophical.
No. The Santa Fe is bigger so its harder to find parking and it has worse fuel economy.
price
no adaptive cruise, no thanks. rivals have it
+matt k
Yeah, I heard that and immediately rejected it. Adaptive cruise control is amazing. Can't wait for true autonomous cars
Pedro Pedroso didn't mean to get you all butt hurt and flame your fee fees
So what? Are you that lazy that cant drive your own car? Geeezzzz!!!
If I have a car, it is because I would like to drive it and feel the car I got, not let the car do my job as a driver.
So you dont like driving... Well, then dont drive and use public transportation hahahahha!!!
WtrDogg20 i second that. Lazy bummers should be the one taking public transits. Lmao
heard these dual clutch transmissions are ruining the car, many complaints about the car stopping and not being able to accelerate again..
Out of curiosity...how tall is Zach? I'm 6'4" and wondering if I would have the same reach issues he mentions at 1:10. Thanks!
I'm 5' 11".
Thanks, that helps a lot...being my height, these things matter. :)
What city is that? It's awesome :-))
San Clemente, CA
Thanks :-)
Love the outside, inside not so much.
Turf Surf I drove the CX-5 and loved the inside. So much that I'd be afraid to use the car to haul my dog and bike. I happily bought the plain Tucson today because the outside is gorgeous. I found got the night edition in white.
I don’t understand why people buy this car?. Here in Canada It costs 50 to 100$ more per month to lease it than a comparable Nissan Rogue or Honda CR-V. Not too mention the reliability that comes with the name
JKV GAMING not when I priced out the rogue with similar features.
Don't get me wrong. Even if the price is close, I think I will go Honda. Hyundai gets my vote a lot cause they give WAY more options in the same price range for most recently released vehicles
Nissan is garbage
Asphalt because?
Landrew MacKinnon they have cvt problems and nissan won't fix them
That ringtone 😂
My mother has that car but it was ruby red
Do the new Toyota Rav4
This is NOT a BASE model review.
How do u adjust the front headrest back
I LOUW VOU HYUNDAI Tucson 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Them GTI wheels
It still has the old-style windscreen wipers? Hyundai only I guess.
What the hell is "old style" windshield wipers? If they clean the windshield, who gives a hoot.
Correct. On the other hand Ford T also did the job the cars do today, didn't it. The new wipers silly do a better job.
Would be nice a nice car if the transmission wasn't faulty
i heard they fixed it
$31000?????
😱😱😱
2021:
$15000
🤣🤣🤣
Never overpay for a new car!
Trying to buy for a friend
😅
Wait till the dual clutch transmission burns out lol.
there is nothing worse than taking out a car loan for an item that depreciates so much.
Try living with a big old SUV that has a CVT made by Nissan in a crowded city like Brooklyn and Staten Island.
This or Mazda CX-3 or Subaru Crosstrek ?
exionem
Go for this or the Crosstrek. I like both😂.
The Crosstrek is painfully slow when trying to go from 0-60.
DCT? No thanks.
As opposed to? Garbage CVT?
Yes because the DCT wasn't made for traffic whereas the CVT isn't a problem in traffic.
The best car
I'm still getting the C-HR
Christopher Castro cvt cars has issues
Excellent except the black leather interior lacks a high-end look to match the Limited optioning. There is no bright work or trim to break up the sea of black everywhere or add visual focal points. There is so much more they could have done. Even a little bit would've been nice. In that regard, Hyundai not up to the competition, even amongst their own vehicles. WIth exception of the cheap Accent, all Hyundais have nicely executed, trimmed & appealing BLACK interiors.
It will be interesting to see if they make it to 200k miles reliably with a 1.6L
The Tuscon is very over rated and the transmission is garbage and I had to take the vehicle back numerous times and finally had to file lemon law and the engine lacks power and even with the turbo
what's better this or the kiv sportage
You can't go wrong with either.
I LOUW VOU HYUNDAI Tucson 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
