Underrated and often ignored in discussions, the Magnepan .7 speakers may just hit the sweet spot for average-sized rooms. They produce a a bigger sound than the terrific LRS+, but without the overwhelming visual impact of Magnepan's larger models.

No one described how really special these speakers are any better.
I'm flattered, thank you. I'm listening to them right now after having them out of rotation since May due to other speaker reviews. I almost forgot how addictively good they are. Thanks for watching!
I enjoy my .7s. I power them with either a pair of Schiit Vidars or a Pass Labs XA-25. Occasionally I use a Mytek Brooklyn Amp+.
Just bought the .7 one week ago today and I'm in love with these speakers and their unique open, beautiful, detailed sound. I find that I can play them almost 10 db lower than my box speakers with no loss of the quality sound and pure enjoyment. I'm using a Rogue Sphinx v3 integrated amp which has a tube preamp with 100 wpc and it is glorious. I find the soundstage to be broad and very realistic. I'm hearing things on albums I've played for over 40 years and discovering sounds I never heard before. I did an A-B. test with the LRS+ and it wasn't even close. Get the .7s.
Couldn't agree with you more. Nice choice with Rogue Sphinx v3. Thanks for watching!
Very good review.
That you, and thanks for watching.
I use the 1.7i in my main system.
For my bedroom/home theater system I use the LRS+ plus an Arendal sub. I expected to buy a new amp for this system but my old Adcom 545 II drives them so well I don’t know what else I could want.
If you're happy, why change, since I would expect that the bedroom is more casual listening. I own the 545ii myself, and have used them with my .7's. .
It’s all depending on your room size…the LRS+ with a Rel sub worked wonderfully in my 12’x14’ room with a 8.5’ slopped to 7.5’ ceiling, bigger room require bigger Maggie’s…big Maggie’s in small room won’t work well…
Absolutely agree
I have the lrs plus, and your right not for rock but great for well produced music
Thanks for watching!
I have .7s with magnarisers and Schit Vidar. I play a lot of vinyl and they sound exceptional in my small room. Would like to upgrade my amp at some point, but can live with it.
When you do decide to upgrade, I can't recommend highly enough the Emerald Physics EP600.2SE. I'm listening to the pairing right now, and it's insanely good for the $$. Thanks for watching!
@@markmarcantonio2796 looks really interesting, thanks for the recommendation. It's in my price range, too.
Magnepan .7s driven by PARASOUND JC5 with dual SVS SB-16 Ultra.
Hi and thanks for this. do you think they will play together with a parasound a23+ that produces 240 w in 4 Ohm? thanks..
I own the a23 (love it), and while it does power them decently, the .7's need more juice to get them truly jumping. I was going to pick up a second a23 and use them in mono-block mode, but after contacting Parasound, they warned off using that configuration with 4 Ohm loads.
@@stereofanoregon6481 thanks for your reply.
Have a look at the Orchard Audio amp with Gallium nitride GaN transistor D class amp 500watts@4 ohm
I know about Orchard amps, but have not had the opportunity to experience them.@@Jack96993
I have the Magnepans 7's My room wouldn't support the 1.7's
I did the jumper fuse upgrade and the Magnarisers stands I also have two SVS Ultra 13 subs I was powering the Maggie's with a Spectron musical MK lll class D amp designed by John Ulrich output is 500watts@8ohm 650@4ohms and 1,200 watts@1ohm and 65 amps I just list the right channel 😢 My VAC PA 100 100 tube amp does a pretty good job especially on the 4 ohm tap
That's a fine setup. The VAC PA is a fine match for the .7's.
Do they have a small sweet spot. I usually listen with 3 people on a couch. Thanks.
I will tell you that in your case make sure the tweeter ribbon is on the outside, that will widen the sweet spot. As I said in the video, along with Adrian and others, the Maggies do not have pinpoint accuracy of placement. A definite advantage for group listening.
