The sharp increase in wind speeds with these kinds of storms are so cool to me. Winds of 10mph going upwards of 60mph in a matter of minutes is just so amazing
I love how when a dark clouds get close it becomes more windy and see the trees blowing around and leaves being blown around to it’s really fascinating
I live in Illinois and I had three pretty bad storms of 2020. First the beginning of the year I got a midnight tornado warning in somewhere around March. Then I got a derecho Storm, which was the worst storm of the year and knocked out our power for a day and a half. With 100 mph wind gusts and dime size hail. The derecho also had long lasting straight line winds. The last bad storm was a squall line just like this one. It had 70 mph gusts and penny size hail. This one did not knock our power out but there were the absolute darkest clouds. It was pitch black outside when I was bringing stuff close to our house. This triggered a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warning as well as a flood advisory. The weather channel was on the whole time as well. The derecho also triggered a tornado warning and severe thunderstorm warning, as well as a high wind warning.
Watching this reminds me of days back when I didn't have a car. Being stuck on the bus stop watching weather roll in like this is really scary while waiting for the bus to come
When I lived in Charleston, SC, I enjoyed many awesome storms. Now I live in Phoenix - where the weather is boring 98% of the time😕 BUT, the remaining 2% is deadly, so I guess that's okay (just kidding).
Hey @midwest storm chaser I live in Madison Wisconsin and want to start storm chasing but I do not know how to go about it. Any tips for doing the 1st chase???
i know Im randomly asking but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Duncan Archer I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I was standing in the doorway to my garage most of the time, and there is an overhang above me as well. The door faces south, and the winds were coming from slightly north of due-west, so I was able to stay (mostly) dry.
MidwestStormChasing >>> Ahh yes... I can picture it now. Thanks for describing direction. I often try to picture which direction the camera is facing when watching these sorts of videos, but of course the uploaders seldom say.
Lol my dog does that too. Luckily we left him out during the worst storm we’ve ever seen (don’t worry there’s a shed we’re he likes to stay in) but there was a time were we woke up cause our dog started barking at a thunderstorm in the middle of the night. (He was in the house at that time)
So did anyone notice anything strange on here or is everyone just enjoying the wind and rain and not seeing the good stuff slow this down and pay attention and im not talking about the storm
Oddly, there was hardly any lightning/thunder with this storm. I only heard a few faint rumbles from high in the clouds while I was watching the shelf cloud approach.
There are weak trees and there are strong, sturdy trees in America. But most trees in America grow a lot during the growing season, some up to 8-10 feet in a season. That's a lot of added weight to the tree and can make them break easy. The tree that lost a couple branches in this video seemed to be what is called a Black Tupelo. Which is a softwood tree, it's not the strongest and grows rather fast. 3-5 feet in the growing season.
You also don’t get these types of storms as often in Kuwait, that’s a statistical fact. But it should also be noted that these trees are often picked for their rapid growth, and faster growing trees usually are softwoods which are less durable, appears to be a silver maple in this video. If this was an oak or sugar maple the story would be different.
FunnelVortex we get at least one every year around November-December. Last year was the worst. Water came into the houses and some tree branches fell. The winds were very strong
A crazy thunderstorm with damaging wind and torrential rain! And not a single thunder😂 . this is wind heavy rainstorm without the prefix thunder hahahaha
No it isn’t. Tropical regions get heavy downpours regularly but not so much in the way of heavy damaging winds from thunderstorms due to the difference in upper wind dynamics and air mass interaction in each latitude and region, the eastern and central US is the region most prone to severe (I.e. winds, tornadoes, derechos, supercells, squall lines, frequency of hail) convective weather on the planet. If you’re talking about tropical cyclones that’s a different story, but for thunderstorms the tropics mostly get heavy downpours and occasional pulse severe events. Not sure what you’re trying to prove.
The dark clouds with green grass and the trees looks beautiful. Although this is a bad storm.
Donetta Kirby Well the way to avoid it is to stay inside the house building or condo and don’t be near to a window
Yes it does look beautiful!🥺🥺
I agree. That is one angry looking sky, though.
@@nenblom Yeah
@@elladeboer5028 ik I have this once and they reported a ef 5

Until it blows you off your feet.
Those winds at about 3:00 were incredible to watch, bad storm but beautiful.
What an experience- the calm before the storm. What I’d give to experience what that moment must have made you feel like.
Yeah, it is really quite an amazing moment!
I love how when a dark clouds get close it becomes more windy and see the trees blowing around and leaves being blown around to it’s really fascinating
Amazing shelf cloud at the beginning of the video and great video there.
Yeah, it was the best shelf cloud I've seen in a while. Thanks for watching!
as i always say, enjoy the bright clouds while they last

Always creeps me out seeing storms like that coming in
Beautiful and great footage but scary
I like when this looks like a isolated thunderstorm with heavy rain thunder lightning. And it was a lightning storm
I love thunderstorms. Unless it's a derecho then it's really concerning.

@Torin Carl No problem :)
Wow! I've had a few severe thunderstorms and they were pretty strong!
I live in Wisconsin, do you remember when the storm knocked out most of the states power
Yeah, this storm was very powerful. Most damage we've gotten from a thunderstorm in my area in years.
AsianManChad there were giant storms in August 2018 and August 2019 that knocked out my power
That was crazy. We had one just like this but it was more like a wind storm.
Yeah, we got another severe storm here yesterday which brought lots of wind but not much rain. Wasn't able to record it though. Thanks for watching!
At the four minute area- where were you standing where you and the camera weren’t getting soaking wet?
I was standing in the doorway to my garage most of the time, and there is an overhang above me as well. The door faces south, and the winds were coming from slightly north of due-west, so I was able to stay (mostly) dry.

I got a question do
you go back inside until the bad storm end
06:20 The calm after the storm
Wow.. looks like a storm I saw some 4 years ago!
Looks like there's some hail on the ground, in the category of ping pong and golf ball size as well!
Get out the paddles and the clubs.
Here in geor georgia, the weather is boring, but yesterday we were hit by a severe squall line
I would camp in that. Nice video.
Pretty strong inflow too
Oh almost forgot if you use a second phone to look at the video u can see more things that sometimes we cant see
That is so COOL!!
FANTASTIC!!
Thanks!

Was those winds at the beginning gradient winds or inflow winds?
Who else was trying to whip that round smudge off their screen?
What their a tornado also? It looks like there was a tornado because of the winds! Stay safe! It looked very bad!
This very green environment is because this kind of precipitation
Very amazing scene you captured live long wonderful

The same storm hit us 2 days later on the 29th and brought 50-65 mph winds.

2:00 Gust Front!
You don't get many tornadoes out of this
