      Sukhoi is a male name. But planes are female gender (Even if the word plane is male gender).
      At least, many pilots/captains treat their aircraft/vessels as such. It's kind of a cultural thing I guess. I like that appreciation. I guess it's up to each one to decide in the end.

      @@mvkz ah yes the 2nd strongest military who is currently loosing to Ukraine. Man there are militaries far stronger than Russia rn. China for as crap as they are is probably better than Russia. Given how corrupt the Russian airforce is I probably am more qualified than a lot of them. Hubris aside there is no reason to believe the SU 35 is good or the Russian airforce is good. You do realize we have photo evidence of their modern stealth fighter the SU57 using screws in the airframe? Now you might not see the issue with that which is fair but for example the f35s stealth plating is so tough you need Diamond tipped tools to pierce it. If the SU57 has visable screws that means it’s stealth plating is of far far less quality of the f35 or the Russian airforce is still using coatings to avoid radar detection which is a very outdated method. If they can’t even get their “best” fighter right then why should you just assume the SU35 with its outdated form of fighting is any better.

    • @thebravest2332
      @thebravest2332 2 года назад

      @@mvkz yet Russia is making less progress that both Iraq wars. Hell russias taken more casualties than all three war’s combined. Also the fact they are using purely ground power is the problem, air power is the deciding factor in wars these days and the fact Russia has completely failed secure air supremacy had made its ground troops extremely easy targets for Ukrainian drones that have been doing a large amount of damage. Also don’t you find it funny that 1 trillion dollars and 20 years later and americas military capacity hasn’t even gotten a dent in it? If Russia did the same thing it would’ve fallen apart, I mean hell they already are falling apart due to the war in Ukraine. Russia is losing and its airforce is a complete joke.

    This is truly the benchmark for all fighter jets to follow where maneuverability & performance is concerned. The other manufactures of aircraft in the world make excellent flying machines as well (props given), but the Russians are the only ones that make a fighter that is controllable, recoverable & still lethal in any falling or stalling attitude ( altitude not withstanding).

    • @Airguardian
      @Airguardian  7 лет назад

      The rest of the fighters would likely be able to do that as well if they implemented thrust vectoring nozzles but it appears that western manufacturers are not bothered to go there... sadly!

      The chart you use is misleading as it doesn't reflect the percentage of kill probability of each weapon system. It's worth very little that 'such percentage' of total kills have been made with a certain type of missile, for example, if to get that kill you needed to launch a ton of them in the first place. Then I also think it is misleading as most of that 'most recent data' has been gathered in conflicts where one side had an inmense technological and training edge over the other, which makes the results totally biased. That is not to say that BVR is useless. It's certainly not that. But failing to see that there might be scenarios in which it doesn't play out is dangerous.

    Gorgeous. As an American, it makes me nervous for our aircrews that potentially could face these with our JSF or f22. Our current theory of energy/maneuverability might work at a disadvantage if we ever got close and personal. These are, in my opinion, and from a practicality and aesthetics standpoint, the best jets currently made. The f22 CANNOT do what this aircraft can.

      The great problem for America's arms industry, and this is true of its British counterpart too, is the corruption around most of the business. It might sound hard to believe, but in Russia, with all its endemic and chronic corruption, that dates since history is history, the government has enough control over it and supervises it in such a way that the Russian last generation of arms and war vehicles are much cheaper and more efficient than those produced in America and NATO countries. That's why lately Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan, traditionally aligned with NATO have started buying Russian arms.

    These maneuvers are actually very relevant combat wise, as bogdan explained, it's not the pilot who is deliberately decelerating and doing slow speed maneuvers, but if a fight got to a low energy state because of the constant maneuvering, having this sort of slow speed control is a massive edge.
    Flankers are traditionally very good at high speed turning as well. Overall, a work of art of an airframe.

      The F-15 and especially the F-16 will beat it in a high speed turning fight (two circle dogfight). But in terms of instantaneous turn rate (one circle) the Su-27 is about equal to the F-15 and superior to the F-16 - more relevant to Fox 2 fights.

      The thing is you guys are forgetting the most important part of a combat fighter jet. It literally means nothing if not for the weapons on board. Most US weapons are too secret and those that we know are what they want us to know. I personally love this SU35S and 37. However, I think they lack the technology the US has. Zero blind spot helmets, complete interaction and HUD in helmet. Plus, I think US has some new age type shit. Plus leaks and rumors of new fighter jets in production not revealed yet.

    What an amazing aircraft thrust vectoring is absolutely incredible I don't know why I America has not caught on to make their planes as maneuverable as the Russians what an impressive airplane I got to give it up to the Russians as an American I'm very impressed

      I assume the US is more concerned about making money out of them than nailing 'the perfect flying machine' so to speak. That said, the Raptor gets really, really close. Pitty they closed the production line.

      Careful research and analysis by American War mongers indicate that a fighter jet need not be this maneuverable in a combat situation. Of course, it's impressive and neat, but in combat it's not necessarily advantageous, even in close dog fight. New generation of sophisticated, maneuverable BVR missiles makes close engagements unlikely. In case of close contact, the outcome will be unpredictable, but statistically advantageous to the overall picture, ie., pilot training, weapons, engine performance, ground resources, and other technologies. That said, this jet is the benchmark for maneuverability.

    • @Roger2465
      @Roger2465 3 года назад

      Because it's useless.. they already made versions of every American fighter with tvc. Looks nice but not a hard target when you're going 120 mph in a massive plane tumbling around while falling from the sky. Tell me how efficient this would be and how it would recover while fully loaded with fuel and weapons. It would take for ever to slow down fast enough to perform these maneuvers and even longer to regain proper airspeed if it's not shot or smacked by a missile due to going 120 mph in a massive jet while tumbling around falling from the sky.

      You don't need to kill to touch one though. Just go to MAKS airshow on a business day and stay in the static display area. Sometimes they open fences and allow a few guys to get closer, touch them, enter the cockpit, etc. But you need to be lucky to be there when it happens.

      A combination of LERX / wing-body blended design improving lift at high angles of attack and abusing thrust when speed gets low to suplement lack-of-lift (or total absence of it).
