Hilarious Been there, and done that for a dozen years and I know exactly how you feel! Yup... Invasive water causes all kinds of damage. It's almost as bad as fire when you consider all of the rip and replace due to water damage. Keep safe, healthy, and happy. Let your humor carry you through the troubling times!

Very helpful video! My renovated shower smells like mold. Room is more ventilated than before as an exhaust fan was added. Is there a way I can measure moisture in the tiled walls and tiled shower pan floor?

Just for those watching, those self sticking rolls of tape cost about $10 a roll versus the standard Paper tape which runs $2.00 a roll and less. Most people only use the self stick for patches and other small repairs.

There's a reason why screws shouldn't be countersunk with a hammer. Sooner or later it will pop.

When I remove sheetrock I use a drywall router and follow the length of the 2x4. I set it to the drywall depth. I end up with a an 15 inch wide chunks - and it take less time.

So he removed the moldy parts and took it all to the face? And didn’t use air scrubbers or really do any special procedure like isolate the area, negative air pressure so spores and toxins don’t spread?

You used the moisture meter to show people, but you knew damn well that it was hamburger behind the wall because it was so wet. I hope people take your advise about soaked insulation. It takes forever to dry out inside a wall. The drywall and insulation needs to be removed ASAP, before a plethora of black mold grows.

  • @DanPlaysPiano

works on delivered firewood you want for your shed, too. When the motley crew delivers the (hmmm) "1 year dry (partial) "cord"), whip out your moisture meter on a few logs before they unload. I could tell by the truck load that I was being cheated in amount, and my meter told me it was all (!) not dried. That's serious business.

When putting on the mesh tape or any tape, you really should avoid doing everything how he did it. Longevity wise, 10-20 years down the road, the adhesive will begin to fold, especially in humid climates. Important to start the tape in the middle and pull one way, and then come back to the middle and pull the other way. Why? Because you need even resistance that works with and against eachother to keep its hold for generations. I can't tell you how often I see poor taping jobs like this, and the dry wall begins to lose it's aesthetic appearance because someone put on the tape like it was a sticker. It's even bonus if you put on a light coat across the drywall boards prior to taping, even with Mesh tape. Keeping strength is important.
All those dings with the hammer with the dry wall screws is also a lazy way of temporary fixing a flush dry wall screw that should easily be adjusted to dimple case point. Another 10-15 years, time with bring them back out and impede through the drywall/mud.
