Most people today don't realize that this theme was simply "The Young and the Restless" long before Nadia Comenici selected it as the music for her Olympic gold medal routine. Only when the single was released did it become known as Nadia's Theme. This arrangement (the Columbia Pictures TV original) is my favorite.
Not “simply.” The theme originated as “Cotton’s Dream” from the Bless the Beasts and Children soundtrack in 1971. Also, Nadia Comăneci did not select it as the music for her Olympic gold medal routine. In late July or early August 1976, ABC's sports anthology program Wide World of Sports produced a montage of Comăneci's routines during the 1976 Summer Olympics and used "Cotton's Dream" as the background music. It was this national television montage that cemented the association of the tune with Comăneci in the public mind. (Comăneci herself never performed her floor exercises using this piece of music, however. She used a piano arrangement of a medley of the songs "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" and "Jump in the Line".) As such, the theme’s composers, Barry De Vorzon and Perry Botkin Jr., renamed it in her honor.
Also enjoyed how much deeper and more mellow the announcer's voice has gotten over the years. I know mr. bennett has done a lot of radio and tv over the years but I will always know him for the phrase "join us again for the young and the restless"
This reminds me of Season Five of the 1980s Channel 10 Australian jailhouse soap opera television drama series, Prisoner, in July 1983, when in episode 377, Carol Coulson is found hanged in her cell in the Wentworth Detention Centre in Wentworth, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Wait a minute. Why did you put Columbia Pictures Television's name and if that was folded into Columbia TriStar Television in 2001 and later became Sony Pictures Television in 2002?
I appreciate you clearing up that matter for me. But I am wondering is Bill Jr. still there as a senior executive producer or has he moved on to something else? This question is asked because in your closing above you have him listed that way.

I like this closing the best with pic and names they have not done this in years
would have been had Laura Lee Bell name had not been listed
I miss the closings like this..Very vintage..This is clearly still the best soap opera on t.v. and the best theme song of any soap for all time!
This theme song was originally played towards the end of the movie "Bless the Beasts and the Children". Good movie to see also.
i wil tell you something you did an outstanding job on this it is a beautiful piece of work

Wonderfully made but was this crafted by anyone for a special occasion since some of the names go back to the 1970s?
Reminds me of those 70s & 80s sketch drawings
Great job! CBS can use you!
This is my favorite TV theme song!
Wasn't Bern Bennett retired from a long successful career in TV and radio by the time this was made?
@retrounderground1
Donnelly Rhodes played Philip Chancellor III in the 1970s.
Nice... almost has a Romeo & Juliet feel :)
Great job! Y&R is still the best!

do you know if Bill Bell is still alive? I knew Mrs. Bell has passed but i didnt know about Bill.
I did it to pay homage to the era of Y&R when Bill Bell was the head writer.
And putting the famous words of Bern Bennett in at the end made it more enjoyable
Outstanding!!!!
