Guys I LOVE your work. I am a young-ish Catholic priest, grew up agnostic-socialist and was so fascinated by Latin chant and gothic architecture (as of course by Tolkien, Fantasy literature etc.) as a young man that I started going to church - where they told me that Latin was outdated, pre-conciliar etc. you know the drill. Well in the end I became a parish priest with a Gothic revival cathedral to run, and I can bring in as much Latin as possible. God always has His own ways. Thanks for your beautiful music and God bless you all!
@@margaretwall7648 Sure, I have been to Holy Mass there regularly as a layman and still sometimes help out with solemn vespers and the like for the priory around here. I think they are doing a good job, and most of all they uphold the authentic faith (and liturgy). But I dont fit in with fraternities, and the SSPX is no exception. Music like this has to be sung by people who really mean it, like these guys. It's all too easy for a professional choir to rattle music off, without believing a word of it! God is not honoured by that. *That* was the reason for the Vat II reforms: if your form is right but empty, you're a hypocrite. Fumbling sincerity is better than polished ignorance.

I am a Catholic Seminarian and this is by far one of the best things I have seen on youtube. I think this is a perfect representation of what Catholic Men should be and I think it is definitely your best song since Song of Kings. We need more music like this. Praise be to Jesus Christ! I am seriously considering converting to Catholicism. Not because of this song, to be clear, although the song is amazing. But because there are aspects of the faith I hold valuable that I have trouble finding in the protestant church.
When you do convert, I highly recommend finding a parish that holds Mass in Latin. It helps connect more with the Catholics of the past and around the world, and the liturgy is, the way I see it, more reverent than the vernacular Novus Ordo forms of the Mass.
I’ve been learning Latin - not only have your songs helped improve it, but also have gotten me closer to Jesus Christ. - I’m Brazilian & here we all are full of vices. The bits from Compline -- 'Fratres, sobrii estote et vigilate' and 'In manus tuas, domine' -- really got me. My family has sung compline in Latin for many years, so those words bring a very familial and homely feeling for me, and hearing them with the music is just amazing!
Jesus understands me when I pray in Latin. As far as I'm concerned, His cross had three sacred languages affixed to the instrument of our salvation. Latin is one of them. Latin isn't dead any more than Jesus is (He lives forever!). It has been preserved in His Church, and with any luck, shown how beautiful it is even today through this music.

Excellent! This is manly music for the Christian soul! I love the images. Being familiar with the Divine Office of the Catholic Church, I also love how Clamavi de Profundis incorporated parts of Compline--with the beautiful "In Manus Tuas, Domine" --and Matins into this medley.

I wouldn't say that Latin is dead at all, it is alive in and throughout many of the correlaries throughout the romantic languages. One can study which contribute to the vernacular roots through a study of etymology, in order to learn how to construct grammatically correct words for oneself for a purpose of one's own, according to those languages that are very much common.
There will always be disagreement between sin-cursed humans, even in the church, but so long as we confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead, we will be saved (Rom. 10:9). As an evangelical who was raised to think that Catholics were unbelievers stuck in a works-based system of righteousness, I am continually impressed by Clamavi de Profundis's stand for those core truths of Christianity. I look forward to the day when all the Church of Christ will be united under the same banner, and we can sing together the praise of His glorious grace.
As a Catholic, I do like this. I think it looks towards a militant aspect that we have forgotten, or even worse, shun, but which is a key factor of the faith. We are soldiers of Christ, we are defenders of Truth, we are the Church Militant and we stand beneath the banner of the Lord against the Shadow of lies!
