I am absolutely thrilled to see a lefty paint. I am left handed and it is so much easier to follow along with a left handed person. Also I like the fact that he does the cloud shadows and tree shadows totally opposite from everyone else. I do the same thing! Beautiful work. Thank you.

Wow, I just want to say thank you. I randomly searched how to paint landscapes and happened to click on your video first. You truly are an inspiration. I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety a lot lately. Art use to be something I enjoyed in highschool but I haven’t done much of it since. I just attempted my first mountain painting.... and honestly it’s easy to feel frustrated because you’re imagining something completely different in your head. I appreciate how you value the journey and just painting for yourself. To help release feelings and emotions. Not worrying about anything else. I’m learning how to be patient and understand it’s about the process. Your work is beautiful! I’m thankful I came across your channel. I’m excited to watch more of your videos. Thank you for your positive influence and sharing! What you said at the end of the video really hit home for me. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!

Wet on wet is an awesome process.. I used to watch ol Bob Ross years ago on sundays. It truly inspired me to go get the supplies and get busy .. It gives me such a feeling of accomplishment when I'm doing this. It also lead me into the next level of oil painting. Now I'm really going crazy into the finer touches of detail.. now it takes 4 days to do a painting instead of 1 hour.. I really appreciate your videos..
Keep up the great work. It looks fantastic..

Justin I appreciate the time you take to explain what your doing. This helps me in so many ways. That's what drew me to your channel. It helps me to slow my anxiety and anger that I struggle with. Helps me to concentrate. You also say "however you feel comfortable" wich gives a feeling of being in control to. This was hard for me to throw out so please no bad comments . You are so talented. Thank you, thank you for finding art as a way to deal with your life and using it in a way that helps save others who are struggling.

After watching you create this awesome
sceen I have decided to come HOME to
alla prima!!! I was doing much better emotionally when I could blend, and smoosh, and just play on a canvas like I did on my guitar. The clean-up of oils sent me over to acrylics.
      I call acrylic painting,
"The fight" Each painting is like going into combat! Not a relaxing afternoon of, "oops, I don't like that area of the meadow I'm painting, so I'll just smoosh it into the hills behind it."
My God, why did I ever leave? Well you have brought me back, and I'm here to stay... clean-up and all. Your paintings got my attention because, in my opinion they are a pretty big notch above the tsunami of wet/wet people out there. They have the grandeur that makes the clean-up
worth it. Thank you so much. I'm off to the art supply shop.
I'm back on paint thinner. I wish I could afford odorless. It'll still be worth it just to be able to smoosh again.

Thank you so much!! You have no idea how helpful for you to say things like “don’t take too much time on this” because I tend to overdo my paintings and they become bad. But this is absolutely amazing! I managed to trust the process rather to throw it away immediately and I love the results :) this helped my grades become higher for my painting assignments

You are so awesome!! I suffer from depression as well. I had a hard childhood where there was abuse that I found myself carrying it into adulthood. Married a narcissistic, abusive man stayed married to him for 30 years thinking it was my fault and he was all I would ever have. Nobody else would want me. Well he ended up going to jail and I have divorced him and have found out that it wasn’t me at all. He was just mentally sick. I’m learning who I am and enjoying life. Jesus has been so good to me through all of this journey. It’s awesome that you are so willing to share your struggles. Your paintings are beautiful. You are a beautiful person and this world would be a sad place if you weren’t here. Keep going, one day at a time. No one is promised tomorrow, so enjoy today and the positive people in your life. I am so wanting to learn to paint. Do you have a video that shows how to set up and the supplies needed to paint? Do you use anything on your canvas before you start painting? Do you have se acrylic or oil paints? God loves you so much and so do we. Thank you for everything you do.

You're the most honest, honorable, genuine, generous person on RUclips brother!
Very few people even have the concern for other people, who they don't know personally, on their radar! Here you are pumping out all these videos, some half hour others over an hour and you post the entire paintings start to end for free! You don't have to go online somewhere to pay to see the whole painting, which there's nothing wrong with, but you don't do that.
You're concerned for people who've been broken hearted, some from childhood, others through relationships etc, and you've come from a serious depression, which again, so many people are terribly afflicted by and many people suffer horribly and have no clue why? That can be even worse than knowing the reason!
I've not experienced prolonged depression, but I went through a four year period having lost 12 close family including my 45 year old brother, who left four young daughters behind, and his wife died a year later, my mother, and my father under very tragic circumstances, and on and on. That was incredibly hard and so I do appreciate the heart ache others have experienced.
My own wife had an absolutely horrific childhood being the eldest of three girls and a boy with brutal, vicious alcoholic "parents" Being the eldest, my wife protected her siblings, very often taking hell for them. She was cooking, cleaning the house, doing laundry and serving beer and booze at 5 years old! She was about 9 when she started cutting grass.
Like a lot of verbally and physically abused children she was heavy as a child, and was convinced she was worthless, useless, unlovable and nobody would ever want her because she was filthy garbage and by the time she was 10 years old she was broken.
Her "parents" were both vicious, sadistic drunk animals! When my wife reached 14 she decided if she took pills, "diet pills" she could get thin and maybe someone would like her? Of course nobody would ever want or love her, but maybe someone could like her? She had no friends all through public school because she was warned to get straight home after school and never to bring anyone home with her.
When she reached high school she made friends with two awesome girls who lived in the neighborhood. Then when her next younger sister went to high school a year later, the four of them became very close.
When my wife lost all the weight she was 115 lbs and extremely pretty. Boys took notice! She was constantly being approached and there were a few really nice young fellas who were constantly trying to hookup but she shot them all down because she believed she was garbage.
The story about how we got together would take far too long to tell but she amazed her sister and two friends when she agreed to go with them to see what was my band performing Beatles and Wings greatest hits, and the moment I stepped out on stage, I was lead vocalist, she absolutely stunned them by telling them "I'm gonna marry him"!!
I never even saw her that night, the place was overbooked and wall to wall people! From the stage we could only see into the first maybe ten rows, and they were in the balcony, so I never saw her. And yet a series of bizarre circumstances happened, and about a year and six weeks after that strange statement to her sister and their two life longs friends Carm and Mel, we were married!
    God works in mysterious ways!!
It took me years of understanding and tremendous effort before she finally able to see her own beauty and worth, and so I have a tremendous respect for this effort of yours Justin, it is so very important, especially in a time where we've been trained to believe material things and money are more important than people. At a time when you are called a "racist" for every menial difference of opinion, which has got to just destroy real victims of racism, which is thankfully more and more rare, but this is yet another fact of today's reality where we've gotten so far away from caring about each other.
What you're doing is so so wonderful and awesome brother, and so very few are even aware of the fact that we cannot tell what the state someone's heart is by the way they look, or because they "seem" happy and confident around others. Broken spirited people are experts at hiding their pain and damage out of self preservation and shame, and these people need all the love and care and help we can give them.
So my brother, having loved some broken hearted people with crushed spirits, I thank you from the bottom of my heart brother! If there is ever anything I can do, please brother, please let me know because it would be such an honor to help you out in this Godly, awesome endeavor.
And I think it's important also to say we also have to try and deal with the people causing this tremendous damage. Very often they've been victims of similar abuse and if we fail to address these people we risk more victims becoming bitter and causing damage to their children. It's rare, but it happens.
I dealt with my wife's father in an unfortunate way, but he gave me little choice. In the end, he quit drinking because of the incident, and we became very, very close and he was a dear, awesome, repentant friend for the rest of his life. Her mother saw the difference in her husband and it inspired her to quit drinking and I loved her dearly and in the end we took her in when she got Alzheimer's when nobody else, understandably wanted her, and we cared for her for the remainder of her life, which was six years and the last few years were incredibly difficult, but I wouldn't change a thing.
She passed in the house about four or five years ago in a very emotional final few hours when I managed to get the entire family - the kids - her in time to make peace and love each other before she took her last breath over here and her first over there!
God Bless you my brother and God Bless all the suffering.
    Jack - Canada ~'()'~

No this is oil based paint with a base coat on the canvas which allows the paint to blend easier. The only downside is that oil paint can be very pricy. However I have been doing landscape paintings and have even sold some of them, and they have all been made with acrylic paint and water!

Hi Justin. Wonderful teacher and amazing artists. I watch you nearly every day as I’m learning the craft. Would you share where one can purchase the same brushes for this style of painting?

Thank you for this beautiful painting and message. I don't usually comment on videos but your words brought tears to my eyes. My painting looks nothing like yours but the bottom line is this helped me turn my mood around. Thank you once again, you are very genuine.
