Right now in New England the hardest part is getting the motivation to run in the cold. The same could be said for those in the South during the summer. Even false motivation is still motivation
LOL, I lived in Hanover, New Hampshire for 4 years, NYC for 20 years, never once saw a day as cold as a day in Oxford, Mississippi a couple of years ago, -10F. This morning in Oxford, Mississippi I ran my daily 4am 10K in 19F. Yes, 5 months ago at 4am it was 80F & 100% humidity but trust me, the South can get New England Cold.
Getting up at 5am six days a week year round in all weathers? Don’t mind it and mostly enjoy it 😂 Hardest is taking a week off after a marathon or going on holiday, not running, and getting back to where I was after a week or two. 2:30 is monster pace no matter how you look at it and must require huge dedication. Have a great race and leave it all out there 👊🏻🏃🏻
A 2hr30 is mega fast !! Good luck for Saturday, you're capable and the fact you are having a go after the career you have had and achieved is already a massive inspiration for the rest of us - We are with you tomorrow coach !! I have a question though - if temp is 5-10degC hotter in marathon, how much more electrolytes/water do you think we need ? I had about 1.2 litres in Valencia, which is what I usually have in training, but I think I miss-calculated in the race been that bit hotter.
Thanks for your support RTP, means a lot.A general rule of thumb is to increase your fluid intake by 10-20% for every 5°C increase in temperature. So, If you typically consume around 500-800 ml of fluid per hour during a marathon, this could mean increasing your intake to about 550-960 ml per hour in hotter conditions. You did awesome in Valencia. 3:10 with a short stop included is HIGHLY competitive. VERY well done man. You'll be well under 3 hours in your near future, probably by end of 2025.
@@rundreamachieve thanks for that, I need take alot more then. I felt i take enough for the conditions I train in but limit it so I can avoid toilet breaks, I think I need to start training the other way. I very often have enough energy even when cramping. I thought I'd fix it this training block 😂 I'll get it next time
