Imagine an earth with a single capital of the world; a place where the duty of service blossoms in the form of unparalleled monuments to our civilization. This would vastly contrast the world of individual self-service as we experience it today. The citizen should be awed by what he owes society far more than he is lured by the promise of life.

The buildings and avenues had to be " two or three times larger " than their equivalents elsewere, like Paris Champs-Elysées or DC . Not Germania, Germaniacs ! And more than 50 millions people died because of this madness, a lot of germen among them. Pityful is a weak word ... And btw, do you believe that those ugly giant amounts of concrete were beautiful ? The fury of the führer... Even the giant palace of Ceausescu, an other megalomaniac, was less ugly ( and needed also the destruction of several districts of the capital city, including priceless historical monuments ). And romanians of today, after having got rid of him, still did not have found a really useful purpose for it. It would have been much the same with Berlin (renamed " Germania ! " ) .. except that the monuments would have been built by thousands of slaves treated in an inhuman way and dying at work. Happyly this giant shit was never built.

Hitler was a jealous man. He knew Germany never had a great long-lasting unified state (the Holy Roman Empire was a decentralized collection of small principalities and the German Empire was a short-lived state for European standards, and he also publicly mentioned how jealous he was of Hungary because of Budapest, a beautiful city built by non-Aryans that no German had ever been able to build. Even today, most German cities have dull or grayish architecture, with a limited number of pretty half-timbering houses in small historical centers.

@Eagle027 whos gershwin, coplan and bernstein? in refrence to america you must mean central and south america for north america only had wigwams when the norse came and still had mud huts when the united americans stole their land in order to expand. As further note of information, austrians as such are german. Austria being Österreich (Easternempire) or also referred to as Ostmark (Easternboundary)

@augustoesp82 he also, surprisingly, was acceptionably soft on the British soldiers that were trapped in France, he basically allowed them to get away because he thought the British were very high classed. hitler offered Britain peace before invading France and afterwards twice.

@bot16 the hall was so comically oversized that with a large audience inside, the vapour from their breath would have condensed & fell as rain!
anyway, they tested berlin's ground & found it to be too soft to support many of these proposed buildings.

@mymovie3 it probably would have been marble. typical of speer. if you were wondering, speer designed all of germania/post-berlin. speer was a frikin GENIUS. speer is my favorite person in history ever. usa, britain, and france were ALL clamoring for his release from spandau but the soviets refused. im assuming the building youre reffering to is the volkshalle, the green dome. look up speer's wikipedia page. omg. btw the road is the prachtstrasse, or street of magnificence. it's three miles long

@plzwork100 this is actually albert speer's doing. speer was more or less hitler's best friend. hitler once said that he would approve anything that came form speer. speer was a freaking genius. everyone loves him. hes way up there with general robert e lee and the likes. speer designed his buildings like greek stuff; in a millenium, the ruins would be aesthetically pleasing. btw speer wasnt exactly what youd call a pro-nazi so you dont have to hate him or anything. he was a GENIUSSSSSSSS!!!!!

@oldkidsjonge i think its called the volkshalle, halle des volkes is blatantly french. maybe thats a frenchicized name. btw i went and watched the video after i made that comment, and im not sure whether its marble or not, does marble come in green? well either way it would be very typical of speer to use soem sort of marbley green stone, he was a MASTER of the grandiose. also btw, hitler had almost NOTHING to do with the design of germania. speer was a freaking GENIUS! look him up on wikipedia.

@MikeMths35 1950!!! With all that marble, granite and other stuff I would have even doubted - Germany being bombed to pebbles at that time - to get that job done in the 1970s. The overall look of the architecture may be nice, but the possibility of pulling such a thing through whistles an entirely other melody.
