Apparently George C. Scott fell down when he wasn't supposed to, he didn't miss a beat & Kubrick loved it so much he decided to keep the mistake in the final film.
One of many instances in which Kubrick told Scott that wasn't going to be the take he used, and then used it because it was so priceless.
It just worked so well and looked natural.
Serendipitous fall down. There are no mistakes, just new roads to explore.
Any time a character falls and gets up again in a movie most times it was by accident.

I'm not sure if 1:10 was improvised or in the script, but it's a wonderful bit made hilarious by George with his expression!
Legend is it was a real fall by George C. Scott. Being the pro he is, he kept going with his lines. A professional actor does not stop until the director says "cut".

In a strange twist of irony, the Soviet Union and now Russia actually possess a "doomsday machine" called PERIMETR, a "Dead Hand" system. Once activated, it will execute launch orders for all units automatically if primary Command, Control, and Communications is taken out in a nuclear strike.
What is truly remarkable about this film, is its continued relevance to this day.

But, how is it possible for this thing to be triggered automatically, and at the same time impossible to untrigger?
Strangelove:
Mr. President, it is not only possible, it is essential. That is the whole idea of this machine, you know. Deterrence is the art of producing in the mind of the enemy... the fear to attack. And so, because of the automated and irrevocable decision making process which rules out human meddling, the doomsday machine is terrifying. It's simple to understand. And completely credible, and convincing.
Turgidson:
Gee, I wish we had one of them doomsday machines, Stainsy.
Muffley:
But this is fantastic, Strangelove. How can it be triggered automatically?
Strangelove:
Well, it's remarkably simple to do that. When you merely wish to bury bombs, there is no limit to the size. After that they are connected to a gigantic complex of computers. Now then, a specific and clearly defined set of circumstances, under which the bombs are to be exploded, is programmed into a tape memory bank.
Turgidson:
Strangelove. What kind of a name is that? That ain't no kraut name, is it, Stainsy?
