For someone, it is a divorce from a loved one, or the loss of a friend, and for another, it is grief for a person who is no longer alive. Most importantly, this is a song about sadness, longing, loss and the desire to meet again with a person who is dear to you, but for some reason, you cannot see that person

Spring Day lyrics were written by RM about missing the friends he had to leave behind to become an idol. However the mv was based on symbolism around the ferry disaster that took the lives of hundreds of students. It was such a controversial time in SK so speaking out against how the gov handled the disaster would get you blacklisted. That is why the video and lyrics may not seem to be sending the same message.
Wow, didn’t know that they have to b careful about complaining. I saw the new video and of parents grieving n waiting to see who had been saved. It was horrific to watch the video n look at the stricken faces of the parents. Most families in that country has 1 child only bec of the economy. If I remember correctly the captain fled n was found dead by suicide. I’m not sure if I’m remembering correctly, ok. Do correct me if I’m wrong. But it was a national tragedy. It definitely ties in to the Sewol tragedy, taking an existing BTS song about grief and using it as an anthem. The video also makes choices to tie it in to the BTS Universe (unofficially) by choosing Jungkook as the character who continues to wander around alone as in Fake Love. There are many BU tie-ins, but for the sake of putting the message about Sewol forward, it seems they have let that tie-in stay in the background.

You watched 2 of the most complex videos of their many complex songs. There are explanation videos for both songs. In Spring day the song was written by RM and Suga because they were missing some of their friends whom they have lost touch with for various reasons and mainly on their part because they were so busy. However the mv for this song is about the Sewol Ferry tragedy that happened in 2014 where over 300 passengers died and most were high school students and the whole tragedy was avoidable if if greed and deceit didn’t happen. There are several explanation videos however the the video made by an Italian army is more in-depth with live footages. In Blood , Sweat and Tears the song is based on old classic literature named Demien by Herman Hess and it’s about encountering temptations, the good vs evil, the growth as a person, and the learning opportunities that can make you a better and wiser person or take the paths that can destroy you. For the songs themselves, Spring Day is about the often conflicting feelings (sadness, anger, pain, grief) around missing a loved one due to a variety of circumstances, not all salvageable. One is losing touch with them due to making different life/career decisions, another is due to betrayal/falling out, and another is death. You got it right when you said “emotional winter”. That winter will eventually end, whether it is when you meet the person again, you patch things up, or you move on from the grief. BS&T is about temptation(s) and/or unhealthy behaviors young people face as they grow up. It describes knowing something will have negative consequences but succumbing to it anyway because at that moment it is gratifying. These two MVs are HIGHLY symbolic & convoluted to the point of people creating long explanation videos, but basically the Spring Day MV is deemed to be a tribute to the mostly-teenage victims of a ferry tragedy that was surrounded by so much coverup, corruption & scandal that artists and other public figures would get blacklisted and/or suffer legal consequences for speaking about it. Therefore they had to be covert about it, but there are enough clues to make the case it is at least partly addressing the incident, like the mountain of clothing, the shoes Jimin finds near the water and hangs on the tree, the yellow ribbons on the rusted metal frame behind JK, and many others. The BS&T one is basically about the “fight” between light & darkness (the statue is a deity that incorporates both) and involves a novel about losing one’s innocence and experiencing darkness in other to find oneself, the Icarus myth about flying too close to the Sun, angels fighting demons & many other obscure references. I love that you understood intuitively that Spring Day is deeper than you might assume. It can be interpreted in many ways, but ultimately it's just a perfect distillation of grief - of what it's like to miss someone desperately who has gone too far to follow. That longing for the day you'll see them again, which you feel even if someone has died. It doesn't have to be about death, but it's about profound loss. If you've lost someone, it hits close and hurts. The video brings in another dimension other folks have talked about. Also, this selection of 3 songs almost couldn't be more different, thematically 🤣 what a choice to do together!
Like many BTS songs, there is more than one interpretation of the same theme -- that is because the rappers take that theme and write what it means to them. On this, RM wrote it in reference to missing a dear friend and the things we (collective humanity) do to sabotage ourselves or hurt others. Suga's rap has his own personal focus on the theme. When the music video was created, the ferry tragedy had occurred and the county was collectively grieving. The video shows that collective grief and how we can be alone in our grief if we don't realize there are people around us, likely grieving too, who we can find strength in coming together to move forward.

Blood, Sweat and Tears The painting is the 'fall of the angel Lucifer the battle of heaven where Lucifer/Satan and his rebellion angle were thrown out of Heaven. This whole MV is about growing up, meeting evil, temptation, loss of inncence it's based on the classic book called Diamen by the German Writer and thinker Hermann Hesse. Due to this MV the book was sold out and had to be reprinted, even now more students are finally reading the book that many teachers at the time were trying to get their students to read. RM quotes from the book as he let go of the ballon just before Suga plays the organ RM use's the English translation as the original is in German.

Spring Day is such an emotional experience (both the song and the MV). I really recommend watching Italian Armys Spring Day explanation video. She goes in depth on all the symbolism as well as the tragedy and political controversy following it. It's a very emotional video, but it helps to show how much work they put into not just their songs but their music videos as well, and how much they care for other people.

In esquires winter cover story Dave Holems asks the members if it is about a specific event. Jin responded that it was about a sad event but it is also about longing he says it also represents him personally because he likes to look in the past and be lost in it. But spring day came out 3 years after the sinking of Sewol ferry a disaster which was improperly inspected, overloaded, and unbalanced ferry capsized on an overnight journey. the ship had twice the legal limit of cargo on its decks and the crews lied about the boats total weight . 304 passengers , the majority of them highschool students on a fieldtrip drowned as they were ordered to stay in their cabins until it was too late. only 172 passengers survived the wreck. It was a disaster that both angered and traumatized the nation the south Korean government tried to silence entertainers who spoke out against it. Covid put all BTS plans into choas they were supposed to finish their world tour then go do their military service but covid happened Tour was cancelled they couldn't do their military service and everyone was feeling really low due to Covid. Fans in some place's in the world were loosing Family members to Covid other's were losing their jobs etc etc. BTS trying to encourage people to keep living.

And if you've noticed, they don't actually write songs about romance/girls. Though they usually make it seem like they are. Their songs could be multiple layered. Example: Fake love - could be for a romantic partner, could be for themselves, could be for their fans. Because they are idols and have to please fans so they end up losing themselves in the fame. But don't worry they are so concious about it, that they write songs about how fame is their shackles. They refer to it as beautiful prison that they willingly entered.

He was told by his father NOT to fly to close to the Sun but his pride over took him and he flew too high and close to the Sun. The result was the Sun melted the wax on his wings so he lost them and fell back to earth which killed him.

Spring Day is very important to the Korean people. I think it's still on the Top 100 charts since 2017. The general population will not let it come off the charts. Spring Day is about the Sewol Ferry sinking where 250+ high school students on a field trip died plus some other people on the ferry. The outcome of the investigation of the sinking caused the impeachment and imprisonment of the then Korean president, the disbandment of the Coast Guard, and lots of other people sent to prison. Blood Sweat & Tears is a coming of age story and is part of the BU (Bangtan Universe). They are leaving their childhood behind to become men, but adulthood has many temptations. Look at the beginning when Jin is looking at the painting. The doors on either side are black and white representing choices. The guys are our temptation. We worked a long time to figure out all the meanings and what each item/scene meant. It's probably my favorite MV. 💜

Spring Day lyrics were written by RM about missing the friends he had to leave behind to become an idol. However the mv was based on symbolism around the ferry disaster that took the lives of hundreds of students. It was such a controversial time in SK so speaking out against how the gov handled the disaster would get you blacklisted. That is why the video and lyrics may not seem to be sending the same message.
Wow, didn’t know that they have to b careful about complaining. I saw the new video and of parents grieving n waiting to see who had been saved. It was horrific to watch the video n look at the stricken faces of the parents. Most families in that country has 1 child only bec of the economy. If I remember correctly the captain fled n was found dead by suicide. I’m not sure if I’m remembering correctly, ok. Do correct me if I’m wrong. But it was a national tragedy. The other tragedy was the panic in the alley where young ppl n some tourists died during Halloween I think. It was the 1st holiday since the lockdown

The spring day mv is about the Sewol ferry incident, where high school students went on a trip on a ferry and got into an accident, the captain ordered the students to not move and stay inside, while he escaped and left the kids to die.

It definitely ties in to the Sewol tragedy, taking an existing BTS song about grief and using it as an anthem.
The video also makes choices to tie it in to the BTS Universe (unofficially) by choosing Jungkook as the character who continues to wander around alone as in Fake Love. There are many BU tie-ins, but for the sake of putting the message about Sewol forward, it seems they have let that tie-in stay in the background.

About 'Blood Sweat & Tears' : Most of BTS' worldviews express "the process of boys losing their childhood innocence and becoming adults." People get to know many dirty feelings as they grow up. We also feel hurt and guilty. In adolescence, we feel as if we are wrong and broken. But we eventually accept it and grow into adults. It's a universal feeling that everyone feels. You watched 2 of the most complex videos of their many complex songs. There are explanation videos for both songs. In Spring day the song was written by RM and Suga because they were missing some of their friends whom they have lost touch with for various reasons and mainly on their part because they were so busy. However the mv for this song is about the Sewol Ferry tragedy that happened in 2014 where over 300 passengers died and most were high school students and the whole tragedy was avoidable if if greed and deceit didn’t happen. There are several explanation videos however the the video made by an Italian army is more in-depth with live footages. In Blood , Sweat and Tears the song is based on old classic literature named Demien by Herman Hess and it’s about encountering temptations, the good vs evil, the growth as a person, and the learning opportunities that can make you a better and wiser person or take the paths that can destroy you. For the songs themselves, Spring Day is about the often conflicting feelings (sadness, anger, pain, grief) around missing a loved one due to a variety of circumstances, not all salvageable. One is losing touch with them due to making different life/career decisions, another is due to betrayal/falling out, and another is death. You got it right when you said “emotional winter”. That winter will eventually end, whether it is when you meet the person again, you patch things up, or you move on from the grief.
BS&T is about temptation(s) and/or unhealthy behaviors young people face as they grow up. It describes knowing something will have negative consequences but succumbing to it anyway because at that moment it is gratifying.
These two MVs are HIGHLY symbolic & convoluted to the point of people creating long explanation videos, but basically the Spring Day MV is deemed to be a tribute to the mostly-teenage victims of a ferry tragedy that was surrounded by so much coverup, corruption & scandal that artists and other public figures would get blacklisted and/or suffer legal consequences for speaking about it. Therefore they had to be covert about it, but there are enough clues to make the case it is at least partly addressing the incident, like the mountain of clothing, the shoes Jimin finds near the water and hangs on the tree, the yellow ribbons on the rusted metal frame behind JK, and many others.
The BS&T one is basically about the “fight” between light & darkness (the statue is a deity that incorporates both) and involves a novel about losing one’s innocence and experiencing darkness in other to find oneself, the Icarus myth about flying too close to the Sun, angels fighting demons & many other obscure references.

I love that you understood intuitively that Spring Day is deeper than you might assume. It can be interpreted in many ways, but ultimately it's just a perfect distillation of grief - of what it's like to miss someone desperately who has gone too far to follow. That longing for the day you'll see them again, which you feel even if someone has died.
It doesn't have to be about death, but it's about profound loss. If you've lost someone, it hits close and hurts.

Like many BTS songs, there is more than one interpretation of the same theme -- that is because the rappers take that theme and write what it means to them.
On this, RM wrote it in reference to missing a dear friend and the things we (collective humanity) do to sabotage ourselves or hurt others.
Suga's rap has his own personal focus on the theme.
When the music video was created, the ferry tragedy had occurred and the county was collectively grieving. The video shows that collective grief and how we can be alone in our grief if we don't realize there are people around us, likely grieving too, who we can find strength in coming together to move forward.

The album Wings, where BS&T can be found, is based on German Swiss existential philosophy and Jungian psychological theory, as interpreted in the coming of age novel Demian, written by Hermann Hesse in 1919. The album and the song are about the concept of loss of innocence as one steps into the adult world, and how it is necessary to embrace the duality of dark and light, in the world and in oneself, in order to become a fully realized adult person.
In the video, Jin is the main character, and we are witnessing a seduction as the shadows of the world intrude on his innocence. There are a lot of mythic and allegorical art pieces and symbolism in the MV representing:
innocence: white doorways, clear water, Michelangelo's Pieta, blindfold, being tied/held back, swing, lollipop, balloon, bicycle, sling shot, etc)

In the end, Jin self actualizes. He accepts the duality/accepts growing up, by letting go of the balloon and embracing Abraxis, the god of both good and evil. Then he reflects (literally, in a mirror) on his transition as the shell of childhood cracks like an egg and his adult self prepares to emerge. It is melancholy to say goodbye to innocence, hence his expression, but a necessary part of growing up. We see color exploding everywhere as he accepts the transition and the knowledge, thus opening his mind and broadening his world and giving him the ability to access more creativity and growth of self. The Nietzsche quote above the mirror encapsulates what is happening to him "One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.”

This whole MV is about growing up, meeting evil, temptation, loss of inncence it's based on the classic book called Diamen by the German Writer and thinker Hermann Hesse. Due to this MV the book was sold out and had to be reprinted, even now more students are finally reading the book that many teachers at the time were trying to get their students to read. RM quotes from the book as he let go of the ballon just before Suga plays the organ RM use's the English translation as the original is in German.

Spring Day is such an emotional experience (both the song and the MV). I really recommend watching Italian Armys Spring Day explanation video. She goes in depth on all the symbolism as well as the tragedy and political controversy following it. It's a very emotional video, but it helps to show how much work they put into not just their songs but their music videos as well, and how much they care for other people.

This song is about love, loss, and yearning for the past. When you see the music video the water imagery links it to the tragedy that happened in April of 2014 the sinking of Sewol ferry. In esquires winter cover story Dave Holems asks the members if it is about a specific event. Jin responded that it was about a sad event but it is also about longing he says it also represents him personally because he likes to look in the past and be lost in it. But spring day came out 3 years after the sinking of Sewol ferry a disaster which was improperly inspected, overloaded, and unbalanced ferry capsized on an overnight journey. the ship had twice the legal limit of cargo on its decks and the crews lied about the boats total weight . 304 passengers , the majority of them highschool students on a fieldtrip drowned as they were ordered to stay in their cabins until it was too late. only 172 passengers survived the wreck. It was a disaster that both angered and traumatized the nation the south Korean government tried to silence entertainers who spoke out against it. The Ministry of Education banned commemorative ribbon's in schools. there is actually a video on RUclips that explains in detail the story behind the video and the song.

Butter and Dynamite are just 2 of 3 English fun tracks to help cheer us all up due to covid. Covid put all BTS plans into choas they were supposed to finish their world tour then go do their military service but covid happened Tour was cancelled they couldn't do their military service and everyone was feeling really low due to Covid. Fans in some place's in the world were loosing Family members to Covid other's were losing their jobs etc etc. BTS trying to encourage people to keep living.

He was told by his father NOT to fly to close to the Sun but his pride over took him and he flew too high and close to the Sun. I highly recommend the Spring Day explained by an Italian ARMY video. She even went to S Korea and met with families of those affected by the tragedy to get her details correct. The song is about missing someone, and grief. The MV is specifically about a tragedy in South Korea, the Sewol Ferry disaster. BTS donated 1/3 of their yearly income to the families of victims in secret. Why in secret? Watch the explanation video.

Spring Day is very important to the Korean people. I think it's still on the Top 100 charts since 2017. The general population will not let it come off the charts. Spring Day is about the Sewol Ferry sinking where 250+ high school students on a field trip died plus some other people on the ferry. The outcome of the investigation of the sinking caused the impeachment and imprisonment of the then Korean president, the disbandment of the Coast Guard, and lots of other people sent to prison.
Blood Sweat & Tears is a coming of age story and is part of the BU (Bangtan Universe). They are leaving their childhood behind to become men, but adulthood has many temptations. Look at the beginning when Jin is looking at the painting. The doors on either side are black and white representing choices. The guys are our temptation. We worked a long time to figure out all the meanings and what each item/scene meant. It's probably my favorite MV. 💜

U can google the info and see who else worked on the song. =0} The guy with the blue /purple hair is JK. The other guy u pointed out was Jin. Basically u liked the vocal line, lol. The poses spell out Army actually, lol. The rapper with the green shirt is Suga that u liked. The pink haired rapper was RM the leader. The guy eating the butter was JHope the 3rd rapper and main dancer. It took him an hour to eat that, yuck. RM told us. Dynamite was a song written by 2 American songwriters and BTS was given the song and they loved it. They tried it in Korean and just loved the Eng version better. After they got their 1st ever #1 hit with it they studied it and created their version. RM worked on the rap lyrics and took part in production. They hired a lot of i think American producers.

I suppose you understand why this song has been used during lectures at uni haha. You're definitely on the right track, but there's sooo much more hidden in this song/mv. I love the explanation video by Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid ( ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.html ). Fellow reactor Cedric Gegel actually did a great job breaking it down too, though he did it twice - first time for the more "apparent" meaning, and second time for the underlying meanings from the BU.

• RM reads a paragraph of "Demian" by Herman Hesse at 2:30 in the music video. And at the very beginning, RM is shown reading "Demian" by Herman Hesse.
• At the beginning of the video, Jin looks at a painting titled The Fall of the Rebel Angels by Pieter Bruegel.
