This song is actually based off of Herman Hesse's novel called Demian. It's about good vs evil, losing innocence and falling into temptation (and a bit of psychology) so we ARMYS had to read books to understand what this entire album meant because it's basically like a story which connects all of their songs in that album haha (the album is called Wings). Loved the reaction! 💜💜
I'm in the process of reading that novel. RM's book list is so refined, so in depth. I have 3 of his other books he recommends. The explanation video is great also for those that like to know the history behind BTS's MV.

They usually use literatures and cultural references that's why we won't get it just at few listens/watches without learning abt the literature and culture. Even then a lot of BTS songs are open for interpretations and can be interpreted in alot of ways and still delivers a message so very well. Even if we can simply listen to the song, knowing what it means is such a pleasure for me. It becomes my mind and soul workout. 💜

I m currently reading Demian .... The story heavily centers aroud 2 realms - the "good" realms of innocennce, childhood, love...and "bad"realm - temptation, lies and violence.the story is so far about the main character realizing the evil realm inside him, questioning himself , God and the world..but soon realizing he is not evil, nor saint, he is human ...so far the book is about finding yourself in a world where so many people try to define you before you are even born. And the road takes you through both good and the bad realm to find you true self.

This hooks us in and gets us anticipating what’s next. We talk theories and develop an eagle eye to digest all the possible clues. This is a master class on how to build a fan base, create interesting & interactive content, video filming & editing (with a major in dance videography), introduction to multiple music genres, a master class in dancing, a focus on psychology, mythology, Korean history, fiction works, art history, social justice... Did I forget anything else?! Whew!

The most important thing to keep in mind when interpreting BTS songs is that they cannot be seen as something real that is happening in time, because their concept is too surreal to see it that way. So the way to interpret it is through dreams and there is a reason for this. It turns out that Hermann Hesse was strongly inspired by Car Jung's analytical psychology. Jung's analytical psychology is a school of modern psychotherapy and something that characterizes psychotherapy is the analysis of dreams, which are not literal at all. In this way it is explained that BTS videos when viewed without a specific context and order do not make sense to be able to analyze them.
The quote that RM was saying when Jin is letting go of the balloon is, *"He too was a tempter; he, too, was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer wanted to have anything to do."* From the book “Demian” by Herman Hesse. It's about an older man looking and reflecting on his childhood, giving reasons and analysis as to why he acted in certain ways in different situations. Jin letting go of the balloon MIGHT BE symbolic as to him letting go of his innocence and finally succumbing to temptation. That's why you can see him kissing the winged statue in the next scene, which MIGHT be the devil.
Linda This is just my theory. I think Taehyung already gave in to the temptation that’s why he’s represented as “fallen angel”.. meaning, he’s already fallen into the temptations and he was also trying to tempt the other members that’s why he smirked when Jin gave in.

He very well might have written and/or played the organ for the piece they recorded and put in the video even if he isn't accurately pressing the keys in the video. I kind of feel like they wouldn't have shown him playing it if he didn't at least write it

And BTS MVs are usually deep enough that you’ll catch new things even if you’ve watched it many times before simply by focusing on other things.
Is he though? It's kinda irking to me when he can't explain something he says "kinda like...certain artist..." I know music is music but there's unpredictable mastery then there's what Everybody else does, just saying. Ah, I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! In my opinion, it's one of their best music videos (and songs too, hehe). As far as albums to react to, I'd recommend Tear as it's considered one of their best albums and it explores a lot of different sounds for them... they also have Map of the Soul: 7, which is their latest, but as it references a lot of their older work I'd recommend getting to it later on... oh, and one more thing! I think you'd really benefit from having the lyrics with you when you're watching the music videos because they're hardly ever not connected in some way. Anyways, great video!

I love your reactions because you literally pin point and mention things I didn’t even know exist! For example, that the rap line are the main vocals for the verses to build a tension for the chorus (how didn’t I notice before). And the guitar chromatic walk down in the ‘crash’ part - I literally can’t stop hearing it now, but I love it !! 💜
I know that you kinda react to the sound of the music as a producer, but it would be great if you read the lyrics as well. Music videos usually have English captions you can switch on, or if it's too much to keep track of at the same time, you can read translations online. Their lyrivs are sobpoetic and go so deep and the best part about their music. :) And you have no idea how deep their music and mvs are haha

Since you love art history (me too!) here are a few things to get you started… 1. The name of the painting Jin is looking at is “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” by Bruegel. 2. Notice the door frames are black or white representing evil vs good respectively. 3. The statue of the Virgin Mary has her carrying her dying son, Jesus Christ. It’s called “Pieta” by Michelangelo 4. The German quote by Nietzche above the mirror Jin is looking into says “You must have chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star” which is a reference to the shadow and finding yourself (Carl Young). They use similar quotes in future songs. 5. Notice when they are walking in the guys are paired up. V is with Jin. V is a fallen angel that leads Jin to the devil (temptation). Jin seals his fate with him with the kiss. 6. Think more on what the blindfold could be protecting. 7. The white flowers at the end are from the BTS Universe (BU) which is a whole other rabbit hole 🕳 I think that’ll tide you over til you watch an explanation video 😁💜

I would recommend you to react to "map of the soul: 7" as it's their latest album (came out earlier this year) I think before reacting to it though, you have to research a little bit about what map of the soul is, because it's quite a complex theory. There is this psychologist/philosopher that came up with it, named Carl Jung (student of the famous Freud philosopher). You can do that either beforehand, to get to know the basics or, you can actually combine it with your album reaction as there are explanation videos for the 3 more important parts of it ( Persona, Shadow, Ego). I would recommend the "explained by a Korean" videos (they're in Eng). BTS's albums are NO JOKE. They always have a storyline and they always try to tell/teach you something. This specific album has 20 songs with each member having a solo song and all kinds of combinations of members doing other songs. As a die hard Pink Floyd fan, the concept albums that they do reminded me of PF. Even though the music is obviously very different, there is unbelievable attention to detail, and they also give you the feeling that they don't do music just for the shake of it, but they speak through it. This album is quite special to them as 2020 is their 7 year anniversary (hence the 7 part) and they are 7 of them ( hence 7 solo songs from each one). All of the guys are generally deeply involved into the music making processes (writing lyrics, melodies and even producing - especially the rappers), but this album is actually extra personal and it tells all their stories.
at 10:53 you can see a German text in the back "Man muss noch Chaos in sich haben, um einen tanzenden Stern gebären zu können" which means "One has to have chaos within oneself to be able to birth a dancing star". This is a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche from his book "Thus spoke Zarathustra". It's quite curious that they included this in the video... BTS really have much more philosophical and complex themes than one would expect at first glance.
whether you’re a new army or not, please don’t take the “who is bts” introduction videos as fact. Yes namjoon writes a good chunk of their lyrics (e.g. 80% of MOTS:Persona) and yoongi is an amazing producer, but the numbers are outdated or too blown up. listen to what they say in their own vlives if you can

he is more involved with lyrics than production. i think the 90% came from his live where he spoke about his contribution to the lyrics of mots persona. to address another reply i don’t think 90% is too much, given what he said, but perhaps if was a little less for 7 given how much more the vocal line contributed. obvi hobi & yoongi writing most of their verses. if you look at the credits in the album booklet you can see the producers written outside the brackets and songwriters written (lyrics, composition, etc) inside them, i think this is where the confusion comes from.
I understand why armys are recommending love yourself: tear album. But quality and production wise their most recent album is the best one. So I hope you react to "Map of the soul: 7"
I feel the tear album is much more consistent with it's vibe so it's a good place to start. 7 is kind of weird with it's vibe given it is a mesh of what was originally supposed to be two separate albums (shadow and ego)

Is he though? It's kinda irking to me when he can't explain something he says "kinda like...certain artist..." I know music is music but there's unpredictable mastery then there's what Everybody else does, just saying. There might be a perceived order in how songs are put together but BTS follows no one even if it is the norm.

Ah, I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! In my opinion, it's one of their best music videos (and songs too, hehe). As far as albums to react to, I'd recommend Tear as it's considered one of their best albums and it explores a lot of different sounds for them... they also have Map of the Soul: 7, which is their latest, but as it references a lot of their older work I'd recommend getting to it later on... oh, and one more thing! I think you'd really benefit from having the lyrics with you when you're watching the music videos because they're hardly ever not connected in some way. Anyways, great video!

I love your reactions because you literally pin point and mention things I didn’t even know exist! For example, that the rap line are the main vocals for the verses to build a tension for the chorus (how didn’t I notice before). And the guitar chromatic walk down in the ‘crash’ part - I literally can’t stop hearing it now, but I love it !! 💜

I know that you kinda react to the sound of the music as a producer, but it would be great if you read the lyrics as well. Music videos usually have English captions you can switch on, or if it's too much to keep track of at the same time, you can read translations online. Their lyrivs are sobpoetic and go so deep and the best part about their music. :) And you have no idea how deep their music and mvs are haha

Since you love art history (me too!) here are a few things to get you started…
1. The name of the painting Jin is looking at is “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” by Bruegel.
2. Notice the door frames are black or white representing evil vs good respectively.
3. The statue of the Virgin Mary has her carrying her dying son, Jesus Christ. It’s called “Pieta” by Michelangelo
4. The German quote by Nietzche above the mirror Jin is looking into says “You must have chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star” which is a reference to the shadow and finding yourself (Carl Young). They use similar quotes in future songs.
5. Notice when they are walking in the guys are paired up. V is with Jin. V is a fallen angel that leads Jin to the devil (temptation). Jin seals his fate with him with the kiss.
6. Think more on what the blindfold could be protecting.
7. The white flowers at the end are from the BTS Universe (BU) which is a whole other rabbit hole 🕳

I would recommend you to react to "map of the soul: 7" as it's their latest album (came out earlier this year)
I think before reacting to it though, you have to research a little bit about what map of the soul is, because it's quite a complex theory. There is this psychologist/philosopher that came up with it, named Carl Jung (student of the famous Freud philosopher). You can do that either beforehand, to get to know the basics or, you can actually combine it with your album reaction as there are explanation videos for the 3 more important parts of it ( Persona, Shadow, Ego). I would recommend the "explained by a Korean" videos (they're in Eng).
BTS's albums are NO JOKE. They always have a storyline and they always try to tell/teach you something. This specific album has 20 songs with each member having a solo song and all kinds of combinations of members doing other songs. As a die hard Pink Floyd fan, the concept albums that they do reminded me of PF. Even though the music is obviously very different, there is unbelievable attention to detail, and they also give you the feeling that they don't do music just for the shake of it, but they speak through it.
This album is quite special to them as 2020 is their 7 year anniversary (hence the 7 part) and they are 7 of them ( hence 7 solo songs from each one). All of the guys are generally deeply involved into the music making processes (writing lyrics, melodies and even producing - especially the rappers), but this album is actually extra personal and it tells all their stories.

at 10:53 you can see a German text in the back "Man muss noch Chaos in sich haben,
um einen tanzenden Stern gebären zu können" which means "One has to have chaos within oneself to be able to birth a dancing star". This is a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche from his book "Thus spoke Zarathustra". It's quite curious that they included this in the video... BTS really have much more philosophical and complex themes than one would expect at first glance.

whether you’re a new army or not, please don’t take the “who is bts” introduction videos as fact. Yes namjoon writes a good chunk of their lyrics (e.g. 80% of MOTS:Persona) and yoongi is an amazing producer, but the numbers are outdated or too blown up. listen to what they say in their own vlives if you can

he is more involved with lyrics than production. i think the 90% came from his live where he spoke about his contribution to the lyrics of mots persona. to address another reply i don’t think 90% is too much, given what he said, but perhaps if was a little less for 7 given how much more the vocal line contributed. obvi hobi & yoongi writing most of their verses. if you look at the credits in the album booklet you can see the producers written outside the brackets and songwriters written (lyrics, composition, etc) inside them, i think this is where the confusion comes from.
Blood sweat and tears was when they first got a bigger budget. They weren’t always rich. They worked hard to have this quality of a video.
This mv is one of their most complicated music videos, it's part of the storyline and you can't understand it without an explanation

Mots7 is too long for newcomers
I feel the tear album is much more consistent with it's vibe so it's a good place to start. 7 is kind of weird with it's vibe given it is a mesh of what was originally supposed to be two separate albums (shadow and ego)
