Most people don't add a hallmark to permanent jewelry. If you're selling ready to wear jewelry, you may want to have a hallmark. For chains there are tags you can purchase that are already stamped. Yes, you can use the welder for all of those materials. You'll just have to play around with the settings.

Can I welder brass? Cause I haven't had sucess with my welder machine.
Yes, you can absolutely weld brass! It will likely require different settings though.
