- Salaam Remi is one of the producers who worked heavily with the late Amy Winehouse. The producer discusses meeting Amy, and how they would come together to produce jazz music. He goes on to speak about her issues with love, her sense of humor and how that affected her music. Despite producing a majority of Amy's work, Salaam reveals he did not get a Grammy alongside the songstress. Salaam talks, Amy's legacy after the troubled singer died at just 27 years old.
Salaam helped Amy's career very very much from the beginning. He deserved that Grammy award more than Mark Ronson. He believed in her vision even before anything.
I totally agree!
I completely agree. That first Album captured my heart even more than the back to black and in that album he paved the way for her entire sound. Mark is great but he was served the entire vision on a silver platter and he reproduced the sound he didn't create it. Salaam deserves so much more recognition
@@muyoworld I agree. Mark is great but just for the simple reason that Salaam was there from the beginning they should have given him the Grammy instead. Frank was phenomenal. Original jazzy.
Absolutely 💯 ❤
hes a genius and doesn't age. hes almost 50. HOW ? he should get a grammy just for being the reason other ppl get grammies
black dont crack
Excuse me ??? Almost 50?
werd
HE cant be 50 not even in his 40's I would say late 30's my friend
@@elismith8356 He is 47.
I've never missed someone who I don't personally know as much as I miss Amy. she had so much to give.x
A list you are beautiful
Free Kanye West 😂😂😂

GEORGE MICHAEL TOUCHED MY SOUL! ❤
Amy & Aaliyah, for me
Salaam is so legendary. A lot of people don't realize how instrumental he was in creating Amy's sound. They worked together beautifully as musicians. I have a lot of respect for him.
salaam is a real humble person.
That’s that West Indian in him
@@Polostar79 idiot.
I know it's kind of randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to watch new movies online?
@Will Antonio Flixportal :D
@Conrad Ezequiel Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!!
This guy produced loads for legends so he's a legend!!
Fa shit sho but a lot of legends don't get the respect they deserve.. especially producers
No Grammy for this man? I always say "let them have the awards...we will take the respect"
beautiful answer about the grammy. he speaks truth and love for music. no wonder Amy picked him. bless him
Amy did not pick Him! They were put together when She signed.
Yeah. He gave a beautiful answer and the interviewers almost dismissive reply was annoying.
Yes I noticed that. Amy spoke well of him in lots of interviews. She said she'd never find anyone like him again.
Give this man a Grammy.
Could listen to the guy for houres. Finally a well educated person with an excellent skill set and great knowledge.
It's like Timbaland/Aaliyah similar to Salaam Remi/ Amy Winehouse. Two great producers that pushes legendary artist far but death always follows them.
What do you mean death always follows them? Who else has died besides one artist of many that each produced?
Aaliyah is NOWHERE NEAR as legendary as Amy Winehouse.....aaliyah was not a trailblazer or a pioneer...she was one of many other good artists in her era.....ALSO R. Kelly did Aaliyah's first album which was just as popular as the one Timbaland did...most of Aaliyah's most memorable songs are the one's R Kelly produced...At Your Best, Back and Forth, and Age Aint Nothin but a Number
Jerome Beck Why can't Amy Winehouse and Aaliyah both be legends in their own right??? Also, Aaliyah was called The Princess of R&B for a reason. Her sound inspired many singers who followed. So I would say she was a pioneer. And I also disagree that R Kelly produced most of her memorable songs. You forgot Try Again which was produced by Timbaland and hit number 1 on the Billboard Top 100 and was nominated for a Grammy. One in a Million, If Your Girl Only Knew, Are You That Somebody?, all big hits and Timbaland produced so your statement isn't factual. Sorry.
Dre tha Freq - drekb. agreed. Aaliyah opened the door for so many girls that followed - from Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani, Ashanti, Beyonce, Keri Hilson and so on. She was the first to really sing personal songs over Timberland's beats. And yes, her best songs were produced by him and Missy. She died when she was about to takeover the game at just 22. Damn!
Jamie City Aaliyah did NOT open doors for NOBODY.....she wasnt even the biggest singer when she was alive....you had Brandy, Monica, Mya, 702, Mary J Blige, Xscape, SWV, Destinys Child, Mariah, Janet.....the list goes on and on and on of female vocalists and groups that paved the way......Beyonce's group was selling more albums than Aaliyah when she was alive.....The Writing on The Wall sold more albums than all of Aaliyah's albums. Gwen Stefani???? Are you kidding! Gwen Stefani is way more of a legend than Aaliyah...No Doubt's one album sold more than Aaliyah's entire catalog....All of those artists would have been big with or without Aaliyah. Aaliyah is so overrated by the new generation that its COMICAL!
You can tell he’s an angel of a person . Good friend to have around , mr.remi
Even after getting booted out from your own work (addicted removed from 🇺🇸 albums for jay-z.... who has not even asked permission or contributed to amy ‘s back to black . Lol
Salaam is truly gifted. Amy's album FRANK is my favorite of hers. A perfect collaboration. He should have a Grammy by now. But his work stands on its own.
Back to black is a classic, enough said. Sorry she died, we lost a good one 😞.
Nah b, Frank is her greatest work
I agree .... dont forget Amy Amy Amy, Brother , Mr Magic & Round Midnight. All of which were never released
Marrow Morrison absolutely
100000% cherry is easily my favorite track from her. so many classics off that joint.
Frank and back to Black. Remind me of Michael Jackson's off the wall and thriller. Great argument for each one to be number one.
What!?????! he never won a Grammy for producing her song off the back to black album?? Wow..
This was really dope fam. It's nice to hear someone's perspective about Amy W's struggle and how that could have had happen to anyone. Major loss for the industry.
CLUTCH1st Fuck the industry. they're the ones who killed her. who do you thinks gets all the money from her music after she died? the record company. and they knew after she died people would buy millions of her CDs. happened more often then you think.
Its like Amy had a old soul. She was so very talented & unique. This man meant alot to her. She loved and respected him . Good interview although Vlad can be annoying stating facts Saleem already knows....
RIP AMY W🌺❤️
I wonder who helped her cultivate that beautiful voice of hers. I heard that she was in an arts school? Her phrasing, tonality and her writing skills, were perfect. She certainly was one of a kind. Will be truly missed.
locadisa Billie Holliday was her biggest inspiration, I think that’s where she got her voice from
And Diana Washington was her number 1 inspiration
Myles McCollum And Diana Washington was her number 1 inspiration
@@mylesthered3614 she has said in interviews that she didn't like billie holliday so that's inaccurate.
@@deasiabrannon805 But she covered her songs before, you dont cover a song of an artist u dont like
“When Blake came back it was bad news” finally someone gets it!
Addicted was so damn good. A fucking shame he didn't get the grammy for it. He's humble about it though, it's cool.
much respect to this brother!. so humble about everything. sees the positives in the negatives and has mad talent. R.I.L Amy Winehouse.
I wish she woulda stuck with Salaam. He’s a freaking genius and helped her on so many levels because he understood the industry and her gift. He’s a freaking sound wizard and absolutely deserves way more accolades than he got.
This man has such a stoic face yet if you pay attention......the abundance of emotion and love he has is such a title wave. Takes an extremely strong man to not get sucked-up by the drama
ONE OF THE SMARTEST MOST HUMBLE MAN IN MUSIC KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK THANK YOU FOR YOUR IMPACT IN MUSIC
Addicted is one of my favorite songs from her, don't know why they took it off the US release.
Thats disgusting...He should have the grammy...Doesnt take away his talent...But its the principle...Salaam was one of the only people who could pull Amy out of her drug/hearbreak overdoses/episodes that she went through...She was always on her best behaviour around him, and thats a trait of an addict to have that one person like that...
...He was some1 she truly trusted ...He deserves the highest accolades for that alone 😓
The greatest producer not a lot of people know. Very humble guy, this man made a lot of your favorite pieces of music . Very versatile, jazz, soul, hip-hop, r&b
Just saw that Amy Winehouse documentary and its real sad when greedy bastards are just out there to make money, alot of people seemed to not care at all about her obvious very bad state and pushed her on stage instead, not talking about Salaam if anyone thought that.
BurrosSWE what i got from that documentary is that her parents should shoulder a large portion of the blame for her death
The father and boyfriend. Both scumbags.
Yup agree with you both.
It disgusts me how the majority of her inner circle ain't even trying to remember her and are going to the media and saying anything just to get attention & a check.
IMO Salaam is pretty much the only one who gets a pass because he ain't struggling for money and lived in the states.
Josh 85 Do you really think that they didnt want to put her away.?When she made the rehab song she referred to her dad claiming that she didnt need to go but actually they attempted several times to help her and remenber you "Can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink". She went to rehab but she would always manage to ruin it. Amys life long dream was not to be as famous as she was. If her parents were responsible for anything it would be because they let her grow up too fast, and undisiplined. But it won't bring her back now. She did maker HER mark though.
s/o to this guy id love to sit down and talk music with him for a hour
Not 2 hours? 🤔
No such thing as "a hour". #freekanye
Salaam deserves a Grammy much more than Ronson. He is amazing.
I always liked Frank better than Back to Black
Taio Smalls they're both great but Frank if my favorite too.
Taio Smalls yes also Lioness treasures with all the demos and classics. i LOVE it :,)
Me too ❤️
Taio Smalls back to black is my favorite but love frank too
Taio Smalls me too
Her whole life changed my life... For the better!
Camden Town, where she Lived, Killed her. It's Party Time every night, drugs in abundance..... Got to meet her and play pool with her while she was making her first Album. Sing In Paradise Ames x
The northern line is a tragedy fam. #freekanye
Stems back to Mental Health prior to being famous. It's all docummented....I dislike her father for his emotional neglect!
Frank is a good album very good really shows her talent voice
Big respect Salaam
Salaam: really answering with depth
Interviewer: Yuhh... MAJOR LOSS yo, yhh... uhh...
thats how good interviewer does it
He is a beautiful soul!
Salaam, the music your produced. Has touched me. Thank you.
had no idea...Amy was incredible. love her and Nas together.
+Frank is my favourite album. Exquisite.
Paul Smith Stronger Than Me
Great interview. So humble.
Vlad pray every night that DJ akademiks don't take his fans
Mitchell Castillo W
Mitchell Castillo he will tho
DJ Akademiks posts news not interviews
That has to be akademiks next move.. hopefully he is making enough money off youtube to where he can make the move to doing interviews and take his production to the nxt level
This one of the best interviews ive seen on Vlad.
Until This Botha got involved, no one knew what to do with her talent. She was dominant in her talent and needed some one to let her be her without the control.
He is the best. So creative and beautiful soul. Wants to bring the best out for everyone.
Wow, it's tough losing someone before you can get to really see them again. I commend you Salaam Remi for being so transparent while talking about Amy Winehouse. I can sense he's still beating himself up about waiting to go see her on Saturday instead of sooner. #RIPAmyWinehouse
This Salami dude been producing for everyone damn
The interviewer is so annoying
true so demanding
IT'S VLAD Lol
What a thoughtful and nice guy!
what a wonderful person you are salaam
bless you... we miss you Amy.
What a genius! What a intelligent and beautiful man inside and outside!
gentleman ... humble and respectful...
If I EVER cross paths with Blake Fielder-Civil.... oh boy, I'm gonna stomp him out on GP!!
Watch out now....blake will destroy u sucka
Gin Weston nope she was murdered
She had mental health issues before Blake.
Her Father abandoned her as a child...the list goes on !...still love her still x ❤
@@moegee123nunny6 research ..she was traumatised before
Rest in Peace Amy Winehouse
Damn, she was supposed to go to Nick's wedding just a day after?! Also, I could feel Salaam's pain and grief, and just that broke me, his teary eyes and how he seems to have an enormous heavy aura, it's crazy. It looks like he tried his best to keep it from flowing outside. :((
Down to earth guy.
So Mark Ronson basically stole his shine....
Kristal Saunders no they each leveled
He stole his shine because you don't hear this name
@@riveraspen2745 I hear his name a lot just not when it comes to amy
Stfu Ronson deserves everything he got fool
I appreciate Vlad for the interviews but he gets on my last nerve sometimes the way he states facts like the interviewee doesn't know! ''She ends up dying, she was 27 years old'' like Salaam doesn't know that...
+Ortheia shut the fuck up. Wasted time typing nonsense
Ortheia Pemberton Easy on the kid, O. Where did my comment go, though? *perplexed*
+Free Kanye West Nah the kid needs to learn not to come at me like that lol
He says it for viewers in case someone didn't know...
+Makaveli250 I thought the title of the video said that but I understand what your saying
Back to black album is a Classic.
He worked on the amazing Frank album. It was amazing.
What a calm talking dude, his words are powerful,
If Amy had also won album of the year, he would’ve got a grammy too. robbed!
HEAVY story. Lovely guy.
Remi is a beast on the beats. Props all day
I see why jay z have all these grammys and talented icons like him have none???
I THANK YOU! I LOVE UR WORK WITH AMY!❤❤❤❤❤I LISTEN TO IT STILL IN 2020! THANK YOU!❤❤❤😎
Love this interview
Fuck me pumps is a classic in my head. I need to be careful when singing some of the words around some people, but such a great song.
Stop comparing Adele with Amy. Not the same kind of music
Precisely, Amy crawled for Adele to walk
I'm sorry Vlad is a terrible interviewer his questions aren't even open ended they're just like ............. yh no shit or....... was that supposed to be question?
Salaam made this interview!
to think if salaam got there she might still be here , he mustve really felt bad, but really cant blame himself it is what it is and his mindset is on point
Now, Naw, Now, NOw, wait a minute... Did I hear that right? Salaam Remi does NOT have a Grammy?!? Is this like when they cheated Baby face out of the Oscar? I can't wait to hear this explanation.
Yea I was surprised to hear that too
That last night she had been looking at nasty comments about her at facebook. I blame facebook for her death.
Addicted was my jam!!!
I can’t stand Vlad and anytime he opens his mouth but I’m grateful for this video
This is Real legend RIP THE LADY LEGEND
Screw the Grammy, just the experience of his expertise to add that magic touch for global hit songs!
seems like a very sweet, down-to-earth guy :)
He should've produced the whole B2B, not Ronson at all. I say that because Frank sounds more like Amy should sound.
Why is everyone so comfortable disrespecting Mark, as if he’s not one of the main reasons why the album sold 20 mil and became the phenomenon it is now. Like literally shut up
I loved Amy so much..... 😖
I don't see guys like salaam in this industry anymore
I always thought that "Fuck Me Pumps" didn't sound like a song that Amy would write on her own. Now it makes sense. Damn, I miss her
The establishment does everything to avoid giving credit to the artist. If someone else can come in and put their name on your work, they'll gladly take your credit..
Once again Vlad good stuff bro
Much love!
How many times is this interviewer going to say “ yeah it was a major loss, huge loss”. Can you ask deeper questions? Like, why when you saw these photos of her, why did you never say or do anything to help her???
Amy ❤ my queen of soul
Vlad is such a cop that he failed to ask the question we want to know. Does he has tracks that no one has heard?
He look so young . He’s 45 right here
R.I.P AMY .. beautiful soul
Vlad gotta get these on spotify
R.I.P. AMY
Why are vlads questions n comments on the interviewees so painful to witness? ".... right..."
I wish the interviewer was in the frame, too. Looks kinda awkward one guy talking to a guy off-camera. LOL
Anyway, Salaam is a brilliant songwriter. So grateful for all the awesome works of art he's put out, Grammies or NO Grammies!
I loved Amy
Just hung out with him over the weekend... hey cousin
😂
I wonder what Salaams iTunes looks like *lovestruck*
alguien con corazon que traduzca en español!! gracias!!
Duck me pumps....fantastic!
