I totally agree. This gizmo is the best thing since sliced bread. My journey started with the Scholz Rockman and continued through the Helix Effects module. I’m getting ready to buiId an uber-pedal board to be used through a few specific amps. I initially bought the GX-100 to have easy access to effects for when I’m looking for a quick and easy setup for my practice amps in another part of the house. However, I was not ready for the incredible sounds to be had. I might end up having rethink my whole approach!
Paul thanks so much for really useful instructional videos. You are an exception to all the over complicated noise on RUclips. Much respect from a plain ole layman!
THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO OF,(How to set up this EFFECTs unit)!GOOD JOB OF EXPLAINING ,THE RIGHT WAY TO SET AND USE THE EFFECTS TO THE GUITAR 🎸! 👍✌️😎🎸🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶BOB.
Thanks Rat! I sat with my GX and this video, step by step, a few pauses and rewinds and the result was great so thank you I'll be sure to check out some of your patches for download save me a lot of time
Your video was extremely helpful! It was crucial for me as I was uncertain if the GX-100 could delivery a powerful and beautiful drive sound. And you were not only able to show it can be done but also HOW to do it. Thank you so much! You just got a new follower! Cheers.
Thanks, Paul, for an easy, methodical trip through the process of getting started with this amazing piece of gear. As you already know, life here in the states got turned upside down this past Tuesday, so I’ve had to turn to the things my life that lift me up, especially playing guitar. Really, I probably bought the GX-100 out of impulse, but once I plugged in, I knew I’d found a great sounding piece of kit (is that correct British terminology?) that could be a great distraction. I set up the unit last night for the first time using the four cable setup into a Blackstar HT-5RH MK II 5-watt head played through a Celestion Classic Lead 80. Even without fiddling with presets, I was blown away by what I heard. As you know, it only comes with a basic quick start guide, so I downloaded the full 95 page manual. Today I watched several RUclips tutorials, and yours turned out to be the best of the bunch. I truly appreciate you taking the time to put together a terrific video. Cheers!
I bought my about a month ago, so I’m a few years behind. I’ve been busy with guitar restoration projects, as well as battling with a few pesky health problems. I’m nearly done with the most labor-intensive parts of the refinishing, so I’ll finally have time to spend getting to know this nifty gadget. I’ve watched all of your tutorials at least twice, some of that time spent inhaling paint fumes. Once I dive in to programming this gizmo, your videos will serve as my guided tour. Generally speaking, I’m a real-time effects guy by nature, though I’ve always loved the evolution of new technology. I retired from gigging over 20 years ago, but I’m more passionate about playing than ever. Having recently retired from my day job, I now have the time to spend upping my game. Thanks for providing a common sense approach to learning to tame this beast. I was wondering if you know what the latest edition of firmware is available?
THIS is what i have been looking for. So,i can have one amp as my dirty sound and the other as a clean. One patch with both uses. This weekend i need to try this for sure TYVM sir, great video
Paul, love the way you explain the features of the GX-100. I got one because of your videos. Excellent tutorials. I'd love to come up with a GX-100 preset that emulates the smooth Johnathon Cordy sweep tones
I enjoy these videos, you have a great way of explaining things. A few weeks ago you were extolling the GT-1000 Core, now you seem to have switched to the GX-100 exclusively, but presumably the comments and setup of the patch in this video apply equally well to GT-1000.
Sounds great! I got mine a few days ago, and I'm loving it. Set up a killer preset for my tribute band, with a clean amp and a dirty amp, and plenty of switching options to create what essentially amount to 3 snapshots/scenes plus toggling a couple individual effects. Amazing piece of gear.
8:34 a shortcut for assignments in the effects view: long press the knob below CH SELECT and it will create a new assignment for you, though you'll still need to enable it and select CTL1 as source.
2:30 The compressor settings and the gain + 'mix' explanation is excellent. How are you recording your amp if you are plugged into one, and if so what amp and cabinet?
Great instructions. Thank you. I finally got that gear and it's really sounds great. Maybe some firmware update is needed to correct slow changing and saving preset with apps. I hope Boss will do it.
Thanks Paul, appreciate you putting this video out there. You always do such a great job explain in a way that I follow. You were extremely helpful with your Boss GT 1000 videos. What was your reason for changing to the GX 100 from the GT 1000?
Very helpful, Paul. I’m rather new to your channel and really am enjoying what you guys are putting out. I’m considering taking the plunge into a digital solution for playing at home and recording. I’ll try to tune into your live show and ask then; I’d really like to hear your opinions on pros/cons of some of the top options. Specifically GX100 and HX Stomp.
Great demo, thank you! What do you guys think is the easiest to use and program of the popular multi-effect units for cover band gigging? -Ones with a nice screen like this, not just an led with a number for patches. Thank you!
Love your videoss Paul .. . Would love to see more on the gx 100 .. it's capapbilities. ..making tones of certian songs .. or guitar artists .. like satienani .. vai .. Eric Johnson .. .. Cheers ..have a great day ..!
Hi Paul , I’ve seen some reviews of the GTX 100 , some say the drives are thin and lack lustre , you’ve blown that out of the water , how would you compare it to the Helix and Headrush ? , thanks
Hi Paul (from France ;-) and thank you for your videos about the GX-100 ! One question: did you have setup your Global EQ or you are using the EQ defaults settings? If yes it will be very usefull for us to share your own settings... thanks
I wish pedal demonstrators would list their signal chain in the description. I want to know how I’m hearing their results. Amp? Monitors? FRFR? I can usually find out somewhere in the comments cuz other folks have asked the same question but still….
Nice explanation. However, since you're using the same kind of amp block, I think the assign control would be the best solution instead of wasting the divider section
Great video.....This unit looks great. I have a couple of questions I play mostly by myself in the basement Would it be better to play something like this through Powered speakers , a small combo amp or other... Looking to get a good sound without having to blow my windows out. any help would be great.
Hey Paul, all of your tutorial videos are exceptional, but I have a question. I'm using my GX-100 direct through the PA at my church for Praise & Worship except it just sounds bad! We've tried "gain staging" but it still sounds bad. Someone suggested I may need to turn off the amp simulation in the unit. Is that a viable option and is it possible? Thanks again for sharing all your knowledge.
Love your videos for the Katana, and I used some of your settings on the WAZA Air that worked using Katana settings. I’ve had a Pod Go for about a year, but ready to go back to Boss. Love the multiple guitar input setups as my go-to guitar is a Carvin DC150 and just got a Kiesel with Lithium pickups that are very hot. Do you know if Boss came up with any easy way to copy sounds between their products vs. recreating everything manually?
One thing I haven't seen anybody explaining is how to get a blank patch to edit a preset from scratch. Even when I initialize a patch, I still have to remove every effect individually - there has to be a better way to do this. Any tips, anyone?
Great video, can you pls tell me your opinion about sound and feel between QC and Boss Gx100? 🤘 I know you have blueguitar amp and you like more than QC
Sounds great Mr. Paul! I received my gx100 two weeks ago, and it's great, especially in a terms of easiness of use and programming, no doubt about that! I play it through pa, and I think that only week point are internal ir cab simulation. Do you think that too?
Just got mine yesterday very happy so far, how do I create a blank user patch like you have at the start of the video? Do I have to manually delete the blocks or can it be done with one action?
Once you've created an INIT patch, you can copy it as needed. The Tone Studio app can help with bulk operations. Some users create entirely blank set lists in Tone Studio for bulk INIT.
I’m enjoying this setup and thanks. I purchased the 10 pk gx100 settings but I’m unable to access them for some reason.. I’ve emailed you about said situation and received a reply of “tone studio” which is not very helpful.. not very happy about that.
Hello, Thanks for that : very instructive but, if I may, just two little questions : Is it possible to mix bass amps and effects with guitar amps and effects, whether it be on a single chain or a divided one ? Like, if I want to use a bass comp and distortion but with a guitar amp, or use a divider block to run parallel a bass amp and a guitar amp with matching speakers on both, is it doable ? Then, in case of divided chain, can I get each one on a different out so that I can record each on a different track simultaneously on my daw (and, then, getting the clean path on one track and the distorted one on another, for example) ? Thank you.
❤Brilliant best 10mins tutorial I've ever seen on a GX100❤
Just bought the GX-100 and am loving the videos! This one helped me set up my distortion and channels for live performances. Thank you!!!
I like how you describe what you are doing and why you are doing it. It really helps to determine how to achieve the sound I want.
When Boss and Roland get serious, the game changes completely.

Just bought a GX-100 as replacement for a board of pedals. Delighted to find a raft of no-bullshit TSR vids to help shortcut the learning curve.

Watching your videos makes me want a GX-100.
Its a really great unit.
Thanks Paul - this an inspiration for playing around and really get to know this device
Sounds fantastic👍 Boss nailed it as always!
Bought it today, so thankful you uploaded this video. I follow all your videos, especially Fractal’s !!

Thanks very much for this Paul! Awesome help! 👌
Brilliant high gain tone.
Ambient tone GX100 next, please

Thanks Paul, appreciate you putting this video out there. You always do such a great job explain in a way that I follow. You were extremely helpful with your Boss GT 1000 videos. What was your reason for changing to the GX 100 from the GT 1000?

Wunderschöne Klang.
Thanks very much this really helped 👍.

i have one but still dont have enough time to get the latest firmware version.i would love to listen the new high gain amp, sitar simulator,,
Rookie question - do you run this directly into a speaker cab, or is it still plugged into an amp, like you would a normal effects pedal? Thx!

This thing sounds better than my FM3 or my Quad. More natural.....
I was thinking about upgrading from my GT-1 to a GT-1000, but I might save $500 and just go with the GX-100 now.
great vdo thank you. Studio monitor or FRFR for Boss GX-100? please recommend.
Studio monitors every day.
Can you play a loop riff at the same time you are dragging effects in the chain so you can quickly hear the difference?
What pickups do you use?? Thanks!
The only thing not mentioned is what you're playing through? Are you going direct into your mixer or is it going through an amp??

If you push down on the knobs when you turn, they increase/decrease in multiples of 10 instead of 1
And what’s next? We’re living in a time that your looking for day 2!!!
What humbucker do you have in this Stratocaster?
Paul just got the gx 100 my only question is how do i make/or find a blank patch to create my own patches? Can't find it anywhere?
