*We have taken it out twice so far and love it **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it only takes 5 mins to inflate. Seats are comfortable, kayak handles well. We love it so far!!*
I must say that I have watched several video's on tricking out my kayak but yours is #1. At age 73,you youngman have truly captivated this channel! I am a do it yourself guy who really respects artist when I see them. You have captivated my attention on your skills. Great gob to a GREATER person! Good dementer. GOD Bless you and your attitude!
I can't take any more of this awesomeness! You've taken this to a whole new level. Your workmanship is above and beyond professional! Thank you so much for the attention to detail.
+zoffinger we're going to have to hire an actor to receive it upon delivery. I'm pretty I will have a hard time keeping composure! I can imagine future comments: Will someone please silence the fat guy running around in circles screaming! lol
Marty just wanted to say I got my fishing kayak because of you a week ago. I have been out on the water twice. Thing is it is just so much fun to paddle around and see things I haven't fished much yet. Had no idea how peaceful it could be. Just wanted to say thanks and please keep it going.
glad to see you made it through the storms down your way. once again your diy ingenuity is over the top. patrick is one lucky guy. cant wait to see the finished kayak. taught lines my friend. hope all is well with you.
Thank you for all the DIY videos you make! I love how well you pay attention to detail as well as how well you use a description for making all your own custom fits. Very helpful and I plan to take your advice on making my own custom parts! Keep up the great work!
Great idea! I can also use this idea with the Scotty mounts to attach my trolling motor to the back of my Catch 120. Thanks Marty! I just did a video on my DIY bait bucket using your idea. I picked a perfect time to purchase a Pelican Catch 120.
Been watching your videos and learned a lot of little tricks. The way you burned the styro is perfect. Good job! I'm local was out on Ft. Desoto this morning. About to take on a trolling motor project on my Vibe SeaGhost 13. See ya on the water!
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Skyler Elian Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You have some great ‘hack’ ideas for your Yak. I really would like to give Kayak fishing a try , can’t see it happening any day soon though. Not to worry, I’ll just enjoy watching you. Thanks
Love watching the work you do I’m really thinking about getting one for my self I love fishing here in Oklahoma and have been really looking at a lot of kayaks and kayak videos can’t wait to get into my own
Marty are you sure you weren't MacGyver in a previous life? Your ingenuity never ceases to amaze my friend. Keep it up and don't worry about the long vids. I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say we love them.
Right you need to be sitting in the kayak on the water to get the right depth. After adjusted to the right depth and Without your weight in the kayak the pontoons maybe just above the water line. When you sit in it the pontoons will go down. If they are to deep then the pontoons will be holding all the weight of the kayak most of the time. Also suggestion about hatches in general. If the screws pull through the plastic on the hatch I suggest using pan head bolts with 1/2 NEOPRENE BONDED SEAL WASHERS to cover the entire screw hole for more surface area for the bolt head to grab.
I once made them for my canoe out of 2 liter soda bottles filled with polyurethane expanding insulating foam and my exoskeleton was aluminium round and square tubing, worked out nicely.
awesome trick with the heated wire, I will be doing that for sure my next project, beats my stabilizers I made out of crab pot floats...I think I will remake mine....Great Job
Great work Marty I love the catch 120 kayak been wanting one since you showed it to us the only thing I don't like is there is no place to mount a transducer where it is safe I don't like the amounts that hang over the side
I love all this that you do. I'll probably never get myself a Kayak as its just too big for me to carry round but love this! I was thinking: why not go PVC all the way? You can cut and glue PVC to make it watertight very easily. There are different diameters and you can even get it in sheet format to give the front end a slant so as to make it more hydrodynamic. Give it a try and let us know. Thanks for sharing man!
I have a project for you !!! First off , I like your work . Ok , you need to get into remote control cars ! Install motors on the two wheels that carry the cayack . You are going to have to make a third mount , wheel for the front . Good luck !!
hey Marty, I'd say it's time for another Q and A! I've been wondering how you navigate the canals, tides, and waterway on your rafts. I'm looking at moving to Florida and don't wanna get lost! As always thank you for your videos. -Jake
does it matter how square the Scotty mounts a attached to the kayak since there is so much that can be adjusted before glueing the PVC together? love your channel, ideas & video. keep them coming.
That melting tool was ingenious. You skillfully finessed the radius channels into the two styrofoam halves. Got me thinking that the melting tool itself if it had been a matching diameter, you "might" have been able to melt in single pass. in hindsight, would that have been easier or harder to control?
Marty, As I understand it, silicone can cause damage to the material used to make the hull of the kayak. I do know silicone sealer or lubricant can cause damage some plastic (HDP) to develop micro cracks around the margins were the silicone makes contacts with the plastic. Instead it was recommended to use a product called “Lexel” for sealing things that require sealing to HDP plastic. Unsure if you are interested in the Lexel however I thought I would forward the information to you and let you decide. I have a link to a YT channel where someone was using Lexel on a kayak equipment install. If you are interested in the link I would be happy to forward it to you. Regards, Jay…
Hey, Marty! Great video, but, when are you going to make the next "Quick Boat Update"? That's my favorite series on RUclips and i'm always excited when I see that pop up on my subscriptions list. I'm just wondering when you'll make the next one, keep up the great work!
I would have never thought of using great stuff as an adhesive. I was wondering what you were going to use. Will the Scotty mount be strong enough though?
Marty go to Lowes or Ace Hdw. and check out Well Nuts you do not have to put your hands inside of the yak to attach accessories, also water proof without glue, no mess, I hang my yak from the ceiling with anchor cleats, two screws in each cleat. Like all your ideas.
outrigger attachment points on kayak experience some pretty large force due to leveraging. The stainless steel washers helps to distribute the stress, may still be a good choice.
I loved the way you made your pontoons and especially the stems for the scotty mounts however I have a slight problem: After gluing everything up I found that the bolt that was holding the stem to the short piece of pvc had not tightened enough to prevent the pontoons from rotating out of position. Did you glue the short piece of pvc to the stem and if so what type of glue did you use?
Marty, why not just use crab floats instead of all that work with Styrofoam? It's a lot faster. I bought mine online from Austin Kayak for cheap. Still though you do great work. And they come in different colors.
love this channel!! I have a catch 120 and I am pretty new to the kayak game I have been wanting to put some pontoons on my catch but felt like it might be a little over kill. because the kayak is pretty stable already. so is this a little over kill or do you think it's needed for this kayak?
Hi Marty, I love your idea of attaching the pontoons with a Scotty mount. I want to do the same on my kayak, but I can't find the stem you used in the locking mount. I went to the Scotty website and couldn't find anything that matched the description of "Scotty Stem." Can you help me with this? Maybe it is called something else on the website?
I love your videos and i have a little cheepo kyack and it has a hole in it... my only resort is a paddleboard and it is very hard to fish on without and attachments! this kyack is probbeby 1.5k dollars and your giving it away!? anyways live the videos and am hoping for a ling fishing video to come out soon. have a nice day marty and good luck on the "living in a boat" dream! 👍🏼
Zoff...quick question for you or anyone on this board to throw out...I have Wilderness Systems Tarpon 100 Kayaks which have the tracks built in on the front and back. This deters mounting a Scotty mount like yours. Do you guys think a Scotty gear head track mount would hold up to pontoons, or would it rip out of the track due to the pressure of them? Anyone tried this? Thanks.
If I'm correct, the gear heads screw down to the tracks via a single bolt, similar to the way I attached the pvc to the mounts in this video. I think they would bear the weight of the pressure caused by the submerged pontoons, but I wonder if they would pivot under the lateral forces experienced while tracking, which would cause the pontoons to veer right and left instead of up and down like mine? I envision them jackknifing into the kayak, which would possibly cause tracking issues. Perhaps you could simply screw them to the tracks really tight to make that a non-issue? I think it's a cool idea though, Ryan.
should have used 4 inch light wall pvc and added a large swim noodle and round caps they have alot of boyancy and really rigid i used them on a line boat for dam fishing 300 yards away
Hello. Came across this looking for ideas to stabilize a 12’ narrow row boat. I’d like to think it would work. Would like your opinion, Thanks and you picked up another subscriber.

I've watched a good bit of your videos and I must say that you're a great engineer with all your projects great job and much respect
Thanks! I think yours is the best outrigger video on RUclips. Very good detail and ingenuity!
Your DIY prowess never ceases to amaze me. Love it!!!
Thank you for making these videos. The way that you transformed the Scotty mount is genius.
Great idea! I can also use this idea with the Scotty mounts to attach my trolling motor to the back of my Catch 120. Thanks Marty! I just did a video on my DIY bait bucket using your idea. I picked a perfect time to purchase a Pelican Catch 120.
Great videos mate. I'm just getting in to Kayak Fishing, and your builds & advice are awesome.
Looks like it is coming along nicely, can't wait for the fay you have it all done. Great video. Looking good.
Been watching your videos and learned a lot of little tricks. The way you burned the styro is perfect. Good job! I'm local was out on Ft. Desoto this morning. About to take on a trolling motor project on my Vibe SeaGhost 13. See ya on the water!
Just added a 10" rear hatch to mine also. First time I make a move before you. Ordered a 4" hatch for behind the seat too!
I hope Pelican is watching...that rear hatch you installed should be standard from the factory. Nice work!
I agree.
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Lochlan Dominik instablaster :)
@Skyler Elian Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm.

@Skyler Elian it worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you really help me out !
You are a very smart and creative man! Love your videos! can't wait to get a kayak of my own and test out some of your modifications!
Genius! Really simple yet it will work fabulous for the new owner.
Marty your a genius when it comes to kayak mounts
You have some great ‘hack’ ideas for your Yak. I really would like to give Kayak fishing a try , can’t see it happening any day soon though. Not to worry, I’ll just enjoy watching you. Thanks

Brilliant...just brilliant!! I'm making outriggers like those!! Thanks Zoff!!
Great way to get those on there. Can't wait to see them finished up. Great video.

this reminds me of the good old days and your poor man's kayak.
Very good DIY Marty. Thumbs up!
Love the scotty mount idea. Much cleaner install and easier to mount and unmount.
nice work ! marty. i always liked thous pontoons on old poor man kayak.
I once made them for my canoe out of 2 liter soda bottles filled with polyurethane expanding insulating foam and my exoskeleton was aluminium round and square tubing, worked out nicely.
You wouldn't happen to have pictures or a blog showing them?
It's coming along nicely! I'm not a pontoon fan, but yours I like....
awesome trick with the heated wire, I will be doing that for sure my next project, beats my stabilizers I made out of crab pot floats...I think I will remake mine....Great Job
excellent workmanship bud...bravo...
It's looking good, can't wait to see the next update.
great job, I am terrible with all that stuff but I can´t go out without my pontoons, feel much more safe
You continue to amaze me!
Great work Marty I love the catch 120 kayak been wanting one since you showed it to us the only thing I don't like is there is no place to mount a transducer where it is safe I don't like the amounts that hang over the side
just a tip, marine goo is a better sealant to use, especially since silicone adhesives react with the plastic, slowing eating it away
I love all this that you do. I'll probably never get myself a Kayak as its just too big for me to carry round but love this!

a very nice explanation of how to make the pontoons, I think I will do it your way on my kayak.thnks
looking great marty may have to make a support to go between the two
Great dude! you can use a plastic pipe and fill it with poliuretane foam also, cheap and fast
I have a project for you !!! First off , I like your work . Ok , you need to get into remote control cars ! Install motors on the two wheels that carry the cayack . You are going to have to make a third mount , wheel for the front . Good luck !!

love your channel, ideas & video. keep them coming.
There's plenty room to adjust, so square is not necessary.
Proly the best kayak modder ive seen
Nice work as usual. Loving the chipmunk voices. 😂

Great stuff, thanks for your time and making the vids and your insight. Man, you could do a voice over for Christopher Walken spot on..
Try using the grey colored Schedule 80 PVC Electrical conduit, 1" with flared ends....ultra durable, makes great tater guns too! Twice the strength.

I was wonder the same thing... not the base but the stem going into it. I love the idea of this though.
You are so handy! Marvelous work it is genius! You are the man!

I love your diy builds
Great job and great instructor
It would be an honor to get a response Marty, also, love your videos buddy!
Craft stores have this kind of material. You can buy a variety of sizes.
cant wait to see the finished product
love your channel.. thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!
Pretty awesome project and video

Pelican should send this kayak (after completion ) off to their Chinese factory for a limited edition run . Zoffinger / Palombo collaboration ?
Awesome job Marty!
Yes I agree living alone with knowone nagging about what you do is living the good life 😄 ! Great video
Well nuts could have been used for the Scotty mounts to avoid cutting into the kayak.
Marty, why not just use crab floats instead of all that work with Styrofoam? It's a lot faster. I bought mine online from Austin Kayak for cheap. Still though you do great work. And they come in different colors.
Looking good so far
Funny, i thought i was the only one to do a build in my living room ha ha ha.
Hey Marty. Great video. Potoons on a kayak is a creative idea. Do they make it tougher to paddle? Thankyou
Loving the vids keep it up + ur really good at fishing
10:47 that glue stuff actually looks delicious...
Hey Marty. Nice tutorial as usual.
love this channel!! I have a catch 120 and I am pretty new to the kayak game I have been wanting to put some pontoons on my catch but felt like it might be a little over kill. because the kayak is pretty stable already. so is this a little over kill or do you think it's needed for this kayak?

Awesome job mr Marty

smart man! very nice detailed video!
Did you ever install stucco cassing beads? Like window and door bands
Just the eps stuff.

I think I found a solution...the Scotty Side Slide Track Adaptor...check it out on Amazon or elsewhere.
should have used 4 inch light wall pvc and added a large swim noodle and round caps they have alot of boyancy and really rigid i used them on a line boat for dam fishing 300 yards away
when is the next video of the three day boat ride
Looking good.
good stuff man! I'm also doing a giveaway soon! been a fan for a while!
Hi I was wondering if how i could get a hold of some styrofoam you have gotten?
Thanks man.
I love your vids
Hello. Came across this looking for ideas to stabilize a 12’ narrow row boat. I’d like to think it would work. Would like your opinion, Thanks and you picked up another subscriber.
I'm 60 lb over my kayaks capacity how much foam you think I would need to bring it up to my capacity plus cargo thanks
Whats ur max capacity? Not going to gain much if you used 8 inch diameter styrofoam would take a couple feet to even gain a couple pounds
Where could I get the Scotty mount u took off the cup holder I don't wanna drop $34 on just that makes it expensive lol
Looking good!!!!
Dam I have to do that for my Yak..!
Saludos amigo desde Mexico good invención 🇮🇹😎👍
Where is the other boat ride videos?
Lovin it! Camping for more!
thats ,well done...good wishes.
OMG you are an engineer😍
