Don't think anyone is too surprise by this, but I gotta say this easily had my favorite finisher in the series so far. Props to the people who both thought and animated that finisher.
Pac-man vs Pikachu huh? That's an interesting match up. I'm thinking this might be the closest match up we had in a while unless I'm forgetting some major feat the 2 have. I'm rooting for Pacboy, but Pikachu has done some crazy things especially in the anime. Oh, crap I forgot the dynamax form... yeah I think Pikachu is going to win. Then again Pac-man has a planet Pac-man form, so who knows.

Everyone who worked on this did an absolutely stellar job on it, easily my favorite episode of the series so far. The visual effects in the animation were all incredible, the music was great, and the analysis segments actually managed to be really, really funny. Super well done, can't wait for the next one!

I think you found a real good selection of two characters from the character selection and with them both battling each other it would be devastating.

Why did mewtwo not use his other mega evolution which would give him more durability when sephiroth got more physical/close
To all the literal children saying mewtwo beats him due to the manga stating he is as strong as both dialga and palkia smash bracket has rules against powerscaling even with this sephiroth was stated to be the strongest ff character in an interview and some of those characters give arceus and goku a giant beat down but since that is powerscaling and smash bracket uses feats only but yeah even in a match without rules sephiroth still wins I say this with mewtwo being one of my favorite Pokémon
Also supernova has a description stating it is an attack bringing devastation to every reality except for his own

This is one of the best episodes of the series thus far I have to say. The animation had some really nice choreography, sound effects, the sprites used where very detailed and pretty, there where some great moments like Mewtwo using the spoon and Sephirot slicing the metheor, and the ending was so brutal but a joy to watch (I would have prefered if it ended with supernova but I'm happy with what we got instead). Plus, the result was very convincing and did a great job explaining how and why Sephirot would win the battle. Props to you and the rest of the team

This episode was definitely worth the wait. From the analysis, to the godly animation and especially the music, it culminates into something special for me. Every episode so far has blown me away on the passion and care taken. I'm definitely looking forward future episodes. I wish everyone working on Smash Bracket the best of luck. Hopefully, more people can realize how amazing Smash Bracket is.

I'm not sure we can use Sephiroth tanking his own supernova for his durability. Cloud's team can damage him just fine with normal attacks, and i doubt every swing from Cloud or every strike from Tifa is stronger than a supernova. It seems much more like a "friendly fire : off" situation.
Sephiroth also blocked a full strike from Cloud that crushed the metal plate he was standing on. Don't know if that changes much, but I thought I'd say it here since it wasn't in the video.
What I'm most confused by is why Sephiroth is in Japanese but Mewtwo isn't 🤔

Seeing this makes me want to see someone make Sephiroth vs Sauron even more understanding more about his character.
sephiroth would win, no contest. sauron has supr human strength and the ability to turn into a wolf (kinda. seeing how he lost it canonically he might not have it.) sauron's power comes from the influence of others, if it was sephiroth v.s. the forces of sauron, (or better yet morgoth) sauron might have a chance otherwise it would be super one sided.

Both Sephiroth and Mewtwo are incredibly powerful but Sephiroth is just more powerful in every way. Worst part is, we haven't even seen his FULL strength. So basically there's no telling just how strong he really is.

The pure energy of these guys being matched together in Round 1, I'd have them pegged for the Top 4 at a guess, but I shall be cheering for despair throughout, this series is SO well done
Here's a thing about Mewtwo. He can actually use whatever attack his opponent is about to use with 150% power using Me first. Given the mind reading and ability to give himself the speed advantage if he doesn't already have it, he's free to just butcher heavy hitters with their own moves. There's also Disable. In most cases, this only makes a Pokemon forget a move for awhile. Movie Mewtwo disabled an entire arena of Pokemon into struggling, meaning he could probably restrict opponents into using basic attacks.
True! Don't forget his memory wiping thing, just using that he would destroy sephiroth from deleting his memory of what he learned that made him turn on everything
Sephiroth is immune to mind reading and he’s way more durable than Mewtwo, so Me First wouldn’t work. Even if Mewtwo managed to Me First Supernova (which is a big “if” given he’d have no way to predict it) Sephiroth would just tank it with minor damage and kill Mewtwo with his own.
@@Zorua3 Going back through this, and I realized they missed movie Mewtwo's hurricane feat where he used his telekinetic powers to whip up the ultimate storm with the intention of wiping life off the face of the planet with it. This was effortlessly done in a few seconds, subconsciously maintained throughout the movie, and then casually ended when he had a change of heart at the end of the film. How much force would that apply if he focused all that into crushing a human sized target? Also worth note is the precision of his psychic power. He built a highly advanced (and stylish) mad science lab from the ground up, and he doesn't even have properly opposable thumbs.
There's also still the whole deal with Mewtwo's version of disable being a mass moveset wiper, meaning things like healing, teleporting, and spellcasting would be off the table for Sephiroth. With that, it's just a quick wil-o-wisp to put him on a timer while nerfing his physical attack power. Also, IS Sephiroth immune to mind reading, or only mind control?
On the subject of Supernova, I don't see it as a threat to either of them since they can just teleport away so easily (assuming disable allows him to teleport). Though there is the option for Mewtwo to teleport/psychic him further into the sun. I wonder what would happen if Mewtwo used Sunny Day while the sun is exploding. I know I'm not an expert on Final Fantasy, and Supernova is very vague anyways, but isn't the Sephiroth that appears during that an illusion? I'm sure he'd still be capable of surviving it, due to being tankier than Cloud and his crew, but if he can tank that without damage, they shouldn't even be able to chip away at him.

@@Infinitevoid3008 Mewtwo already tried if you've seen the fight. Sephiroth got iced twice, plus lightning bolt wouldn't have any affect on him if you watch the video regarding Sephiroth's durability, he tanked an explosion of a sun.

I don't know if you counted this fact for the battle, but in the pokemon adventures manga mewtwo can switch between his mega forms at will during the middle of a fight. This gives Mewtwo great physical and Psychic power when fighting an opponent.

Okay I knew Sephiroth was gonna win because I knew he was OP but DAAAMN dude he didn't have to do Mewtwo like that! I mean it makes sense that seems like something he'd do but that was really brutal! Anyways this was a good episode and I'm pretty hyped for the next one. I'm guessing Pikachu wins but only because I don't know how strong Pac-Man is
Imo, it depends on the if they use Ghostly Adventures Pac Man or not, cause if so I have no idea how Pikachu would be able to deal with Pac Planet. If not, then I’d honestly be pretty close. Pac Man can dodge lightning, and has survived building level explosions, and can create shock waves and building level punches. Pikachu has filled an entire stadium with electricity before, and can buff his stats since he’d be at a disadvantage. Unlike Kirby or Sephiroth, Pac Man doesn’t really have any stats or tricks to nullify Pikachu’s traps, so despite Pac Man’s advantage in stats, it could very well be a close fight. (I have no idea if they’d kill off a third Pokémon in a row, but this is Smash Bracket we’re talking about so idk)

That wasn't even half of Sephiroth's power. He didn't even use heartless angel( which actually would of been a mercy kill) lol this was a mismatch.
From what I've seen, the winners have some of their abilities saved for later on in the bracket. Wouldn't be fun if you just shoved every feats and abilities very early in the smash bracket.

The fight was absolutely amazing but Mewtwo acted kind of stupid here. He could've guard swapped, power swapped and speed swapped to win but he probably thought he was superior to Sepiroth which was a huge mistake. Overall great job, whoever animated this deserves a raise!

Yeah makes sense. Pitting RPG characters against each other seems a bit easier than one RPG vs a different genre character. Mewtwo has so many had, but Sephiroth innately is immune to hax, because he’s a boss battle that you can’t cheese. I mean, they literally had to balance Mewtwo in comparison to other Pokémon. Imagine if you could catch Sephiroth in his final form and use him on your team. It wouldn’t be fair.
couldn't mewtwo have used knock off to remove sephiroth's sword? i mean, it is a held item. and without it, sephiroth's stats lower drastically and he loses access to several of his moves. not sure if it would have changed the outcome, but it would be pretty funny.
